Signed up to start my future and chose IOT after seeing them pop up on fb ad. It was the biggest waist of time and the building for the classes are sooo run down. One of the advisors in charge of attendance was incredibly judgmental to me personally. They are trying very hard to get people to attend and sign up because they need students money to stay open. I immediately told their financial aid department that I was unenrolling and to send ALL THE MONEY BACK to financial aid that they were receiving. So disappointed and really sad that the school did not care about my feelings when I asked for help. 10/10 DON'T RECOMMEND read more

I attended this location. Went for a class that has since been discontinued. I graduated, but they withheld the diploma over a small balance that I refused to pay, especially after being milked for over 13K in student loans. No jobs were available and I never received career services assistance or guidance. Pretty disappointing lesson learned for sure. Personally I would avoid this school. It will be the biggest waste of time and money. I would suggest attending a legitimate, reputable and fully accredited school. Do your research. read more

I graduated IOT back in the early 2000's from the HR program. Landed my first HR position while in school!! In that role I reported to the N. California Vice President, running 3 offices in in-home health care industry. At that time I wasn't even 21 years old, only had some temp office work experience and my HR certificate from IOT. IOT gave me the HR knowledge, skills and ability to land that first role. IOT set me up to be successful but I had to work hard to be where my career has lead me. I volunteered in offices and networked like a madwoman. I did not depend on career services because they are there to network, lead, guide & coach you NOT place you in a job!! You have to work it, nothing in life will be handed to you. You put all the time and effort into your education and to sit by and not work as hard to find a job in that career is all on you. I commuted to San Francisco everyday for that first HR job for ONLY $14/hr!! #justdoit #workhard #commute You make it what it is for you no matter what school you attend or job you are looking for. Worst decision I ever made coming to this school, I came for HVAC/R after 9 horrible months I finally finished. Robert is a good teacher but swan on the other hand doesn't know much about HVAC/R. I had been working in the field for 2 years when I started Institute of Technology so I had a clue of what you actually do in the field, they do not teach you anything useful and it will be extremely hard to get a job doing HVAC and if you do get one you'll only make $13-15 starting off which they tell you much more. I've had multiple companies tell me they won't hire people from Institute of Technology because of all the bad experiences from past students. I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to go to this school, they will act like they care until they get there money then your screwed. Tip of advice get rid of Swan and hire a real teacher! read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL! It is a joke! I am a single Mom and was desperate to find somewhere that I could get a fast education and get a better job so I could support my child. This is NOT the answer. Not only will you be in debt $10,000+ there are NO jobs in the medical assisting field. The reason for this is that they turn out 100's of people a year who want the same job you do. Keep in mind there are at least 6 schools like this in the area, all doing the same medical assisting program. All they want is your money. They are all a scam! If I could give anything less than 1 star, I would. This place sucks. I graduated nearly three years ago now, and nothing good has come of going to this school. The "career services" as they like to pretend to call them, barely helps anyone. There is hardly any communication between that department and the students. I contacted places long before they even heard those companies were hiring. You work twice as hard to get a piece of paper that companies wouldn't blow their nose with. Don't go here if you don't want to lose your money. It's not worth it and you'll end up in debt until you die, and even then you'll still be paying. If that's not enough reason not to, add the fact that I have yet to receive my Web and Graphic Design "diploma." There's no reason to bother working towards it if you aren't even going to get it. Impossible to be proud of a place that doesn't give EVERYONE the certificate/diploma. Side Note: Realize that you will be in debt after you graduate. You WILL owe this school a lot of money. I started at this school I went to culinary lasted 3 days and quit(personal reasons) second time did all my paperwork and decided to try again, figured out my finances with financial aid, spoke to a teacher there who was extremely motivating and encouraging her name was Ms. Megan anyway long story short she was helpful in me deciding to come back to do the professional medical assisting program. Best decision I could have made. And turned out she was my teacher. So i would definitely recommend this school especially for the PMA program. The worst choice I've ever made i took the computer networking course back in 2008 passed all my courses with a 97 percent only to find out that at the end of all my schooling they let me know the the A plus Net plus certificates weren't paid for by the school so after paying tuition every week and getting to the end of my course I couldn't pay the thousands of dollars to certify myself therefore couldn't get a job in the field due to no certification yet I've owed 12,000 in student loan debt since 2008 I've paid the loan down several times and the loan changes hands and goes back up to 12,000 a horrible school a horrible choice that I still regret til this day.. read more

I would not recommend this school to anyone I know !! I'm currently a student in the hvac program. It's said that were are supposed to get two hours of lab and two of hours of lecture. CAN I just SAY THAT, this college in Modesto no longer even OFFERS Medical office administration, so why are we still in 15k debt for a program they scraped because NO ONE COULD GET JOBS? I went to school here and graduated. Not one person I still keep in contact with from this school was able to get a job afterwards in that field. Schools like this rip people off, 16k for the pharmacy tech program that isn't even mandatory in the state of california. You can go to any junior college, get fafsa for free and do ANY of these programs. Oh lord lets talk about the teachers. so I came here years ago, about 2012, but to be honest, it was a huge mistake. my family made me go there and it was my fault I said ok but it was still bad. the instructors were ok and friendly, but a lot of the students were lazy, annoying or rude to each other. keep in mind, they were all older than I was, just turned 18 and most were over their 20's and 30's, and it was like being back in highschool. after I graduated it was nearly impossible to find a job, their career services didn't help at all and I'm left with a mountain of debt I can't pay. I was also never notified that I had to pay the school at ALL. Now It was sent to a debt collector who found it odd the school never contacted me about my debt to them. they also refused to give me the certificate until I completely paid off my debts, which is never gonna happen. I have over 20k in debt because I was never able to get a job in what I studied to pay for anything. I feel very cheated in all this, and they never seemed to care whenever I did try to get help from them so I gave up. find another place or do what I didn't and go to community college, it saves you a lot of grief. read more

I had a good experience at this school. It was all because of Ms. Megan or properly Ms. Goodeill. She made class fun and interesting and it truly felt like she loved and cared for our students. Some students need someone to be there and for them to feel like someone cares about them doing good. Every mod she made sure to pass out extra papers for our information to keep and showed us videos depending on the mod. She spent extra time and money going out her way to do birthdays and our mini graduations for the students leaving on their externs. My school experience was made because of her. I can definitely say that she is the best teacher I've ever had in all my years of being in school. The only thing I can say bad is just not feeling included as much as the rest of the school, somehow we were always forgotten to be told information or weren't able to go on field trips outside the class. As well we wouldn't always have the supplies we needed. These are the observations I have made through out my 9 months of attending this school. If we had the supplies and we're included more this school would've gotten 5 stars. If you come here make sure to get Ms. Megan as your teacher! read more

They proceeded to continuously call me all day asking me if I was going to come to class and wouldn't let me take time off to be with my daughter and forced me to drop out of the program . I took NST (network support technician) program. I think the program was great. First of all I would like to say this to start off my review, I went into this school with moderate self taught knowledge. I never really had formal training in school for a computer oriented field. I did however study electronics so I do know how to use a computer. I do not program or hack or anything like that. I learned most everything I know from playing online games and when my computer was running slow or not working, figuring out how to fix it. Also I went into this program with the idea that my family needs me to provide for them. When I first went to a college for electronics I did not have that mind set. I finished with a 2.0 average. this time I made my mind that I was going to compete for the best grades in the class and gain both my A+ and Net + while in still going to school. With my family and my goals in mind I was motivated to do all of my homework and to take extensive notes and do my best. I learned a lot from this school. My knowledge learned here opened up doors for me and my determined attitude helped me get through those doors. This is a school that you get what you put into it. Don't let any negative reviews try to teach you otherwise. It gives you what you put into it. Career services did good as well. I really liked the job board they have up on their student access site. It gets updated regularly and they pull jobs from your field and separate them out for you to look at. They also got my name out there and kept up to date with me. read more

Really bad choice of school. It's embarrassing being on the job and have to explain why I just spent 9 months in school and still don't know how to do a lot of basic things. I would literally have to leave school and go home to be able to focus on my school work because there were so many people not taking the class serious. The teacher couldn't say nothing because every time he did students got offended and made complaints. I talked to the teachers, program director, school president and none of them could make any changes to students being loud and disruptive in class. I ran my issues passed Laura and she was the only one that showed up to call people out for being disruptive but it only lasted so long before they were jumping around like kids again. For the amount of time and money spent I feel like I should have definitely learned a lot more then I did. I'd advise anyone looking at this school to look else where. This in-depth review is dated 6/15/2011. Modesto, CA Yesterday I decided to check out IOT. I've had previous experience with other tech schools. Their business model is great, when you walk out that door, you have a contract signed with them. Here's what happens: Walk in, talk to rep for about an hour. Asks you questions about dedication, inspiration...it's all really to pump you up. Then you get the tour of the campus, then you get to take an assessment test. When the staff is teaching you how to cheat on the test, that's when you realize it's all about getting you enrolled. After you take the test, you go to the financial aid staff, they give you an estimate, with the numbers fluffed of course. 17k for my schooling. You then sign a contract for a "reserved" seat. After that you talk to the dean of admissions, he's a real authoritative figure, a business practice common to subliminally force you to enroll. He tells you about commitment, why that program you're choosing is the best one. After that, and here's the beauty. They make you ring a bell. Really. Like in the movie "The Goods" they ring bells when they make a car sale. They made me ring a bell at the end of the process. When you walk in, you can't help but feel like this is the right school, which is a smart technique employed by the company, put all the money into the front entrance. Have the library next door and have the 20 different offices surrounding the lobby. Meanwhile, you have a decaying campus in the back. It's a sad state of events. To the normal eye it's a beautiful wonderful school, but using your critical thinking, this school is all about make SALES.17k is ALOT of money. They invest it all in the "FUTURE ENROLLEES" by making the lobby comfortable, hiring the reps, having 2 different lobby receptionists. They don't not invest in their "ENROLLED STUDENTS". The classes look horrible, the curriculum? It's degrading to a person that has some experience in the field. The campus is a mess. The rep told me sometimes they can't fit all the students so they have to share classrooms. I mean really. Put the money into the enrolled students, oh that's right, you can't because IOT wouldn't be making sales. When this company made me ring a bell, that's when I knew this is a rip off. When this company told me how to cheat to pass the test that's when I knew this is a rip off. When this company employees people to write positive reviews, this is when I knew it was a rip off. When I had to walk into someone elses office to take my desk. That's when I knew it was a rip off. When I realized the front lobby entrance is more extravagant than the campus itself. That's when I knew it was a rip off. When I was signing papers after passing only 12 questions on a test, and the incorrect answers weren't counted against you, that's when I knew this was a rip off. I feel sorry for the people that are hopeless because that is what this company feeds off of. Anyone with any due diligence can search this company and realize it's not a legitimate school that cares about you. On behalf of my own conscious I am sorry for whoever enrolled to this school. It's simply atrocious this is allowed. This is why I'm writing this review. I want the public to know what they are getting themselves into because I understand not everyone is capable of understanding that tech schools are private companies. They're plenty of wonderful tech schools out there. This simply isn't one of them. When I rang that bell, I was simply 17k. I'm not a number, I'm not a statistic, I'm a person. I left with a great attitude, I led them to believe I was attending. But at the end of the day, I knew this was wrong. I truly feel bad for anyone that has fallen victim to the practices of this business. Put that money where it belongs, to your students, make them happy and your company will prosper. The staff that i was working with to get started on my education was awesome! The best out of all the schools that i was looking into! But to my surprise when i went to contact them to set up enrolment they were all let go! And replaced with absolutely horrible uneducated people that had no idea what the school was about our even how to do their jobs! Needless to say i will not be attending this school! I took the NST Course (Network Support Technician). They did a great job selling me the course up in admissions. I mean c'mon, they are definitely a business model and like a business, they are there to make a profit off of clients (us). --You'll learn that in MOD1 "Professional Development!" All jokes aside, if you come to IOT and expect to glean nothing and go out into a crashed 2008-20?? job market with only blame for the school that tried to teach you something, then what do you expect exactly? As far as learning experience goes, I learned enough here from the books, homework, tests, and teachers (Big Dave, Jeff, Rick, and yes even Lance), to take it and apply it in nearly any IT setting. I immersed myself into IT because I knew I needed to provide for my family and for myself. It so happened that I went out and found a job at a small PC repair shop half way through my courses and by the time I graduated, I was managing another computer shop making more money than before I walked through their doors. I am now starting my own business. You may be saying "Well great for YOU," but all I am saying is that IOT is designed exactly for what it serves as: They provide up to date education, they work with you financially, they have accelerated modules to get you out into the workforce, they depend on you for business! Come to this school with a want to better yourself and with more than just excuses. You'll do fine... In fact you'll probably make it in life anyways, but businesses like when you have a fancy embossed piece of paper from IOT that says you know a little bit about something... The rest is you! If you think "Kaplan down the street" or somewhere else is going to fix you and make you walk into that $16-$160 per hour position, then you need more than schooling help... Get educated in a category that you find relevant and that you can sell yourself in, get your own job, do what you said you were going to do.
