Of particular note is their practice of picking the hirer up to take delivery of the hire car and then running you home after you have no further need for the car. The 3 cars I have hired from them have all been spotlessly clean, ready-to-go and fully reliable. Their depots are easily accessible and car-parking is easy. Their prices are reasonable and very good value for money Just imagine: NO LOOKING FOR THEIR DEPOT!! They come to find you!! Brilliant or what!!

They agreed to pick me up at my mom's house (25 mins away) and drive me to Rochdale to pick up the car. That very morning my sister's schedule changed and she could take my mom to the hospital and I did not need the car. I tried to call Enterprise to let them know but they had set off early and were already at my mom's house. I told them I didn't need the car and offered to pay them for the trouble of driving so far to pick me up but they were totally understanding. They told me they hoped my mom would get well soon and not to worry. Very classy. Great customer service. Though I did not rent a car this time wouldn't hesitate to use Enterprise next time I need a rental.

Those issues should have been picked up if the van would have had an mot or thorough inspection and checks before going on sale. When we contacted Clive about the issue, he refused to pay the repair costs, as he insisted that the van was ok when he sold it to us and we caused the damage in the time we drove the van. Our garage was shocked of the state the van was sold to us and confirmed that is was not possible to cause the damage in just a few days. During the following week and lots of contact forth and back with Clive he was very aggressive and rude. He threatened us and tried to silence us, sending blackmail messages and threatening us with court action, trying to make us cover some of the costs. After taking legal advise to reassure us, we stood our ground and returned the vehicle without additional costs to us for a full refund. Clive knew that there was an issue with the van before he sold it to us as we never received the log book, so no second owner could be recorded. However, the experience and stress caused by Clive has put us off from buying from small private dealers. Please be aware when purchasing from Clive Ashcroft car sales and make sure you have the car checked or ask for all check certificates and pre mot reports, which he refused to send to us. He may have had a sucessful car sales career but is not a trustworthy seller with our experience.

I had read some iffy reviews so I was a bit cautious but now I'm so happy I went with them. I had no problems at all. They sorted a hire car when mine was in the garage and took care of the repairs etc. I didn't have to pay anything either which was a relief. Would definitely use them again but hopefully I wont have any more accidents lol

However few months later we get letters from Thrifty/Scot Group Ltd, regarding payment of ADMINISTRATION CHARGES for that fine, which turned out to be even more expensive than the fine itself. They've even THREATENED us by saying they would get their lawyers involved. I soon realized that the internet is full of these exact complains, wherein these administration charges have been deducted off customer's cards without their notice and without any formal proceedings. Luckily in my case since my card got misplaced a few weeks later and was replaced they were unable to do so. They are not much far off from a Cash collecting and arm twisting loan shark company, so be warned.
