This is the second time I have experienced this problem with ROSM including previously in July with another doctor in the practice. Both times I was taken to an examining room in a timely manner and was left to wait in the room. After over 30 minutes, I left the room and spoke to one of the staff to ask if there was a problem. Both times I was told that the doctor was with another patient and would be in to see me in a while. My first complaint, therefore, is that it is not the patient's responsibility to determine why there is a delay. The doctor should instruct his/her staff to let the patient know that there is a delay and what are the patient's alternatives. Both times the staff person apologized for which I appreciate their apologies. An apology by a staff person, however, does not indicate that there will be any change in how waiting patients are informed of delays. On September 12, 2024, the staff person told me that the doctor was in a room with no clock, which is not an excuse but demonstrates poor planning by the doctor. Therefore, my second complaint is that the ROSM Washington, DC office is poorly managed and fails to properly plan appointment times for patients. I will not be returning to this practice for any reason.

I saw Dr. Hyman last summer following a full year of pain in my left shoulder. Without waiting for…read morethe results from the x-ray he ordered, he immediately referred me to a chiropractor. Reviewing the xray, the chiropractor told me that my neck had become a little straight ("only 1st degree") and I just needed alignment and exercise. Dr. Hyman agreed. Both were mystified by my lack of progress and continued pain. The chiropractor encouraged alternative medicine approaches, yet nobody thought to order more imaging. Figuring nothing else could be done, I shelled out money for a personal trainer who really helped me and gave me a lot of good advice. However, the specific neck and upper back pain simply would not abate. I sought a second opinion. Reading the same x-ray, the Dr. showed me my disc compression and the fact that my lower neck curves the wrong way. He ordered an MRI which showed that I have cervical spinal stenosis. I can try injections and traction before even thinking about surgery, but at least I know what I'm dealing with. Dr. Hayman did not fully evaluate me, relied on the chiropractor's advice, and therefore did not detect a very obvious problem.
