So, I would not normally review a bank but this experience went far and beyond. I am going to share some highlights.....
As a security feature, this bank wants to make sure that deposits in cash or larger withdrawal amounts are "justified". I understand being careful as I have indeed had my bank card number stolen and attempted fraudulent purchases. More than once, so I understand.
That being said, once it was made clear it was me, and I was in possession of my card, I then explained that I was shopping. I am requesting additional funds from my account. Should be enough information? Oh no. The teller had to speak to the manager [twice] and specifically asked me what I was shopping for?
What?
My best friend was with me and witnessed the whole conversation. Ummmm, what am I shopping for? This bank that I have been a member since 2017, is asking me personal questions that has no business being asked!!
Did I have the funds in my account? Yes.
Then WHY is anyone asking me what I am shopping for?
I remained calm throughout the exchange. My friend was understandably was becoming irritated.
I made the decision in that moment to change banks. After 9 years of being a customer, I am done.
This may or may not assist others. Unfortunately, it was not the only time I was asked WHY I wanted to withdraw more than my daily limit?
As long as I prove I have my card, it is no one's business why a 60 yr old woman wants to spend her money. read more
