He also did some gutter work years ago on a previous lake house we owned in Fair Play, and we were pleased with that work, so this is the second engagement. I called and left a message. Nikky returned my call within an hour. He came out and looked the situation over the next day, and offered me a price per foot that was literally about 85% less than the last guy to come out. They set a date to do the work that was about a week out. They arrived exactly as scheduled and completed the work on time. They cleaned out my gutters and topped them with a nice leaf guard that my builder recommended. They cleaned up the gutter debris and left the place as they found it. I have some three story high gutters that they had to access from the roof, and they did so with no problems. Altogether they were prompt, courteous, a pleasure to work with, and they seem to be completely honest and trustworthy. My builder is quite strict concerning the people he recommends and he had Nikky Cheek do the gutters on his own home. He's done two houses for me. He saved me thousands on this last job. If I ever need work again, he will be the first guy I call.

This year he saved my house from burning down when I called him out to take a look when the damper was sticking. He discovered some damage that could have been deadly for us, saying we were extremely lucky that a fire hadn't started over the winter when I was using the stove daily. He worked with us to replace it and redo all of the surround. He went above and beyond to help us try to get the damage covered by insurance, writing two appeals letters. It has…read morebeen over two years since we first advised Andy that our logs were not working properly after he installed them on 12/16/23. Countless phone calls and text messages. We even sent a video showing our logs woild not stay lit more than 30 seconds. The last time someone from Touch of Fire came to inspect the logs was the week of 1/5/26. Jeremy confirmed the burner was not working correctly and needed to be replaced. Per usual, we had to call them for an update. On 1/12/26 Tamara said they would file a warranty claim. After 2 years of the logs not coming on properly? We were told warranty claims take 4-6 weeks. Yet another 4-6 weeks we were going to have to wait. After pleading with them to expedite the repairs, Tamara told us on the phone that she was making the executive decision to order a new burner instead of waiting 4-6 weeks on a warranty claim. That didn't happen. We were told that the burner would be in "next Tuesday on the truck". Last time we heard from anyone about the burner was a text from Tamara on 1/19 saying "Need to ask a question about the burner you have." Not a word since that date.Keep in mind this "ghosting" was happening just ice storm and heavy snow that came back to back. It would have been very helpful for us to have working gas logs as there were record breaking cold temperatures during this time. Ironically, Andy sent a TEXT, not a phone call, this morning! Only after seeing a review my husband left yesterday about this HORRIBLE experience. It finally took us realizing they ARE NOT going to do what they have been saying for over 2 years they would do. Then Andy wants to make excuses in his text this morning. Factory closing due to weather. For 2 years? Andy: "We never ignore customers." For 2 years? "Did our best to provide updates." We called/text them 29 times without anyone answering any of our calls and texts. Andy brought up "safety is extremely important to them." Safety isn't the reason for the delay. He also said "we remain willing to complete the repair as soon as the manufacturer parts are available." As stated, we have attempted to reach them countless times with no response. We have lost all trust in their company. We tried to be more than patient and understanding while making countless attempts for a response. The issues were never resolved. Now we are done. We will find someone else to repair what they would not. It should not have been this way. A little bit of professionalism and communication can go a long way. We don't want anyone else to experience this type of poor customer service.
