His skill as a gunsmith is such that I would not trust my stuff to anyone else. The quality of his builds and craftsmanship are worth every cent and the turnaround is reasonable. He is also an invaluable wealth of knowledge when it comes to anything regarding firearms and firearms repair. He is my go-to guy whenever I have a question or need a recommendation. If you ever need a purchase transferred I believe they are also FFL certified and can assist with purchase transfers. Full-service at its best. Additionally, he will Cerakote anything you need that can be Cerakoted. I needed custom paint on some Hella Sharptone horns to add to my Triumph Bonneville and LAC did excellent work. I felt that regular paint would be too delicate, so Phil and Co did a beautiful job with the color and application to get the horns to integrate with the colors on the moto. My girl feels a lot better knowing I trashed the puny stock horn in favor of these 90 dB dual blasts on the LA streets, and I feel a lot better knowing they integrate well with the color scheme and don't make my bike look like an amateur rat build. They are definitely a busy shop, but the reasons are clear: these guys live for their work and their customers know it, which is why I will keep coming back!

Daniel was a great instructor who made the class interesting and easy to follow. He gave excellent instruction and we felt safe when we went to the live shooting portion. He gave me a few tips and techniques that definitely helped as I continued to familiarize myself with my new pistols. When it was time to take my CCW course, I returned to Daniel and things went great as well. The class is twice the length, but he was still able to keep it entertaining and engaging. The only thing I'd change is when it comes to the mental health portion. He makes it known that he doesn't like the fact that he has to teach that portion because he's not a mental health expert. He's not a lawyer, but has no issue teaching the legal portions. He's not a health expert but brings someone in to discuss dressing wounds, tourniquets, etc. So it would be nice to have him embrace the importance of the mental health portion of the class. Outside of that, the class is great! If you're looking for a basic pistol course or getting your CCW, I highly recommend Daniel and First Step Shooting.

Bad experience from start to finish…read more We came in for a PPT and waited nearly an hour while the staff talked with someone who wasn't making a purchase. They weren't friendly or welcoming and seemed much more attentive to regulars or people they knew. They took the seller's ID right away, but only checked my information much later. They then denied the PPT because my California driver's license was missing a space in my last name, even though my passport card and FSC showed my correct legal name. They explicitly stated that the ATF does not allow this exact situation, but four other FFLs had no issue with the same documents and I could not find any ATF guidance supporting that claim. It felt like an excuse rather than a legitimate requirement. Had I been buying directly from them instead of bringing in a $10 PPT, I doubt this would have been handled the same way. I won't be returning.

And I was also going to the range enough to get frustrated at how I was stuck at my skill level and knew I needed training. With that, it's difficult to explain how much better, more confident, and comfortable I am with a firearm since I started training with Edmond (OJ). His expertise in the field is apparent immediately, and he has a resume that is hard to beat. But that's half of it. He's a great teacher who has the master-level talent of identifying your skill level, correcting mistakes, and patiently pushing you to a higher level than you thought was possible in yourself. And you can double everything I said about CCW training. If you have a CCW license, but you're uneasy about the concept of carrying it in public, I cannot express how important good training will be to you and how much OJ has helped me.

Worst experience at any gun store I've been to. Do not trust them with your gun…read more Their communication is horrible. Their records often inaccurate. The gun smith says one thing -- their shop sales person another -- their manager a third. I initially had them set to work on a Nighthawk custom 1911. Simple job adding an RMR optic. When I realized it would void the warranty, I went into the store and asked them to ship the gun to nighthawk. They confirmed no work had taken place and they would send it. 3 visits later + several phone calls and emails -- it took them 2.5 months to mail the gun. Eventually, with me having to handle it. 2.5 months. To ship something. Nothing unstandard. Each time I'd visit or call they'd say they had it under control. One of the times I called in, they informed me that they had finished cutting the optic into the guns slide. Which is exactly what I asked them not to do, since it would void the lifetime warranty. Luckily their computer system is so bad and their communication so inaccurate that it turned out they were wrong - they hadn't worked on the gun. and it still hadn't shipped. Then after waiting 2.5 months to send the gun - Nighthawk receives it, and notes that the gun wasn't shipped with my Trijicon RMR. Again -- now I'm waiting for the RMR to ship in. On april 24th the manager Will said he would send it. I confirmed and sent him an email. No response. Finally following up yet again, I see he put it in the mail a week after my request. Followed up again to get tracking. Avoid them at all costs. Total clowns. No apologies for their horrible service on the phone. Excuses and BS. Told me the original gun smith wasn't at the company anymore -- but that doesn't excuse the timeline, lack of communication, or bad service.
