He even labeled everything so it's easy to turn things off without having to test every switch. I love that he genuinely cares about his customers. We don't have any smoke or carbon dioxide detectors in our home so he suggested that we get those in, offering many different options that you could tell that it's wasn't about making him money, he just believes that they are important to have. I had Justin out to give me a quote on installing an outlet to support an electric car charger. While he's probably a decent electrician and seemed very knowledgeable, he doesn't seem to have much of an appreciation for the practical. His website stresses that he adheres to code, and he's not kidding. He basically wanted to upgrade my entire electrical system to modern code even for a relatively small job. Is that ideal? Sure. Is it practical? Not often. Three other electricians quoted me around $400 to $600 for my job, and Justin's quote was around ten times that ($4000ish for upgrading my panel and $1500ish for the outlet install). The other three I talked to didn't feel that upgrading the panel made sense, and obviously their cost for the outlet install was far lower, too. On top of that, he wanted to charge me $79 for coming out to give me a quote. He insisted that his website, Yelp listing, and office staff would have informed me of this, but looking over both of the former yields no mention of this at all, and his staff didn't mention it on the phone or email. When I showed him his own website on my phone and asked him to point out the note about the trip fee, he apologized and said that his marketing guy must have taken that part down. What's more, the replies to my Yelp request came from "Justin" but apparently came from his staff instead. He had no idea of the conversation at all. So, in summary, I won't completely discourage anyone from calling IEandS, but definitely know that he's going to charge you just to give you a quote, and be sure to contact some other electricians to get some second opinions. read more
