My husband and I used this company for our insurance need for a long time. A couple of years ago we made claims for fence damage. Apparently my husband was not advised that the last claim would lead to cancellation of our house insurance. We now have gone to a different company and we have to have Fair Plan which is going to increase our mortgage payment for years. Why use a company that does not work for you I ask. read more

Expected better. Was truly excited to work with them. However, I didnt give them 90 days before renewal, which i was not told on the onset i needed to do. The broker then had my info for almost a month but i did not end up going with them for Workers Comp (which i offered to BOR) and then the broker told me plainly, come back next year 90 days and to take care. We have been with Placer for roughly 30 years with business and property policies. In the last year I've had very simple requests which were either completely ignored or just not followed up by my account manager. We will be shopping out our policies for the first time ever once they expire. Everything we have asked for would literally require just a click of a button and sending some files over, so easily capable of being done remotely. Unfortunately, even the most simple requests have been ignored and phone calls not returned. I'm more sad and disappointed than I am mad this is happening. I needed a commercial business insurance binder to rent a building for my new online business. I got a few quotes that seemed really high, as in several hundred dollars per month for a 700 sq ft building. I understand that business insurance is more expensive than regular renters or homeowners but the quotes seemed very high. I continued to shop around and ended up asking a local successful business owner about insurance. He said he carries all of his policies (work comp, commercial, liability, business equipment, and online business insurance), through Placer Insurance. I met with agent, Kevin Hulsey from Placer Insurance and he was great. No pressure, no BS, no padding the fees, just a solid insurance policy that was custom made for me and my business. He walked me through the entire policy, fees, costs, and recommended that I increase certain areas of the policy while declining other areas. When we were finished I actually understood the policy and the coverage. Kevin even took me to lunch at Cafe Delicious Mex food down the street. If you want honest advice regarding complex insurance matters then go see Kevin Hulsey. I ended up with more coverage for myself and my business for about 40% less than the other insurance quotes. I received a letter from J. Hopper it stated that my home had been picked by National Insurance for a mitigation and If the work listed was not completed my policy would not be renewed. The work listed contained unclear and vague repairs listing items that were clearly not mine. It also had photographs that were clearly taken from my backyard without my knowledge. Most of these photos were not of my trees so I clearly have no control over their maintenance. I was told by J.H that I needed to take photos using caution tape to outline my property. I was also offered a new policy at double the amount I was previously paying. I received very little assistance from JH and was told that she cuts and paste these letters and the added work listed was from another client. I have been with this company for 7 years and never filed a claim a have had both my yard and few trees maintained professionally since I moved in. I received no assistance and felt like I was bothering JH. Beware of this agency they will take your money while they can but if the chips are down they laugh in your face and walk away. I suppose you could say this is the nature of the business but it is only like this because we as a whole accept this behavior lets stand together and look for another company. read more

Placer Insurance Professional Errors and Omissions Insurance-Buyer beware: We had E & O insurance through Placer and Tudor for 12 years (our mistake). This year we checked with another agent before the renewal and found better coverage for LESS THAN A THIRD of what Placer quoted us. I have the quote from Placer as well as the quote we accepted from our new insurance company as proof. As standard procedure for years Placer did not give us Renewal Quotes until a day or two before the policy renewed; thereby giving us no time in which to get other quotes. Oh, and this year was true to form as Placer gave us their quote in the late afternoon August 1, 2012; the policy renewed August 2, 2012. Even though we asked for additional quotes from Placer we were only given ONE quote from one company. Placer claimed they got other quotes "but they were all higher". We notice that our new agent got multiple quotes and sent ALL of them to us for review. Even the highest quote submitted from our new agent was only 1/3 the cost of Placer's Quote. Placer had the audacity to say in their email: "Most of our carriers have taken a rate increase. We are pleased to announce that Tudor stayed flat on your renewal, which is good news." The final Quote Placer gave us was over THREE TIMES MORE THAN OUR NEW AGENT FOR INFERIOR COVERAGE!! ($5402 vs. $1638). Oh, and our deductible is now only $1000 vs. the $5000 deductible Placer quoted. We also switched our Business Liability Insurance at substantial savings over Placer Insurance's higher rate. Peggy of Placer assured me she would email me all the quotes she got for us a month ago when I canceled the insurance......still waiting. read more
