So I braved the humongous opening crowd, joined in the crazy circus of a free joy ride from Yaletown to Richmond, whew.. what a trip! Best idea ever! *sarcasm* Hopping onto the Roundhouse station, the train cruises underground until False Creek, and rises up ground level at the Olympic Village Station. It continues deep through more tunnels, until the train emerges elevated, with vast views atop the Fraser River. The line splits up at the Bridgeport Station until the last station at Brighouse, and a spur line to the airport. Yaletown to Aberdeen in 20 minutes, with the large crowd but without transfers. Each station was bright, airy, and well designed. The train itself is spotless clean (for now!), AC equipped, with ample space and walkway for larger crowds and luggage. Bonus snaps for having underground cellphone and 3G coverage too! (okay, in most of the trip minus the deepest darkest tunnel portion.) One star knocked off due to minimal or no security cameras in each station, with no future plans of installation I've heard. Must say that I prefer the original name, RAV Line (Richmond-Airport-Vancouver), as it has a catchier coolness tone to it, and more apt if I may say so. 'Canada Line' seems too big a name covering only the Metro Vancouver region. Most likely another Olympics related marketing change? Despite controversies surrounding the Canada Line, I think it is a great and long time coming addition to Vancouver. Despite some opening hiccups like wait time remaining, I can only think of worse alternatives to get to YVR. Meanwhile, will wait to see how the new rapid service settles in, or how it develop its own character as NY subways, SF Bart, or HK MTR. Lest we soon have to watch our bags or be manhandled, for now, RAV rocks!

Amazingly, clean, safe and efficient. This is a crowning jewel in Vancouver, left from the 2010 Olympics. Wider then the original Expo line and Millennium lines. Lots of room for the luggage on the way to YVR. The train also has one stop that is at River Rock casino, so if you have time...

Great way to get downtown from the airport. Clean and not very busy though I suspect it'll get busier once that outlet mall opens up.

It's a scam to get unsuspecting tourists who don't know better to pay more than they need to for the Canada Line.

Really busy SkyTrain station at the intersection of Commercial and E Broadway…read more Even though they've done quite a few improvements over the years including the addition of a 3rd platform, this thing still gets seriously packed during rush hour, when the hordes all pile in trying to get into or out of downtown. I still get confused here and there trying deal with the Expo line. Be sure to follow the signage. One peculiar thing I've noticed is that people will zip through the train (in one side and out the other side) to skip to an adjacent platform. Haven't figured out what they're trying to do just yet. Guess I shouldn't really be complaining. Busy is good.

Finally had a chance to see what they are planning to implement moving forward on the new fare 'gate' system, and I will hold judgement till they are fully implemented, as I see a log jam that will be happening during peak hours. This station is a corridor, as it has an intersecting station (Commercial) where the Millenium line comes in. Also in the busy weekday mornings people line up on Broadway to catch the B-Line to UBC. The amount of people that come through here is (for Vancouver standards) a lot! This area was definitely a lot darker back in the day, with people begging for money around the station, and the normal small drug deal around the corner, with the addition of the Millenium line brought some new businesses that cleaned up this place. The station does look it's age on the old Broadway side but it's an important station for Transit. During the peak hours just remember your lining up, whether it's for the next train, or the next bus, just remember to try to be couteous to others, and let others off first before you go charging up onto your transit option!
