An ideal workout for those of us who fear the mountains (and prefer to stay warm/dry/close to the ground). I signed up for a reformer Pilates class on Friday morning and was not disappointed. Although the equipment was a little different than what I am accustomed to at my regular studio in Denver, Spela's instructions made me feel right at home. Perhaps it was all of the tasty cocktails I enjoyed the night before or the temperature in the Pilates room downstairs, but I was a sweaty Betty by the end of the 50-minute class. Like, I needed to go back to the hotel and take a shower ASAP sweaty. But nothing I couldn't do while on vacation! Props to the detox tea I enjoyed in the cafe before class began. read more

I would have loved to purchase some studio merch., but they didn't have any, but Serese went out of her way to find me a tote bag. In Jackson Hole, I realized that skiing and Bikram Yoga go together like peanut butter and chocolate. That's because skiing messes up your body and Bikram Yoga fixes everything up. It's a great combination. That's where Inversion Yoga comes in for ski visitors like me. Inversion is a super-friendly studio that offers all kinds of yoga classes in the town of Jackson Hole. They are great with visitors but have a devoted following of their own. An Inversion is when it's warmer at the summit than the base. Get it? They do "hot" yoga, among other things. They don't do the pure "official" Bikram since they add in some of their own stuff, but the classes are close enough. For the Hot 60 class, our teacher was Nora Schwartz who was very good. read more

This was my go-to spot while on a DIY nature retreat in Jackson Hole! (I'm from New York!) I took kundalini with Sarah Kline, hot yin yang with Lindsay Dann and core flow with Heidi Christine. Each teacher was INCREDIBLE and has something very different to offer, with a very welcoming attitude for all levels. If you're new - definitely don't make the mistake I made and take advantage of the $40 for 3 classes offer! The studios are heated, but it's never too hot. Just perfect to take a shower after and feel renewed. Going to this studio while here made my trip complete. Inversion is a fully-equipped yoga studio with offerings including Vinyasa, Restorative, Barre, Kundalini, Ashtanga, and the traditional Hot 26-Posture Series (in 60, 75, and 90-minute versions.) I was pleasantly surprised at the convenience and availability of the 90-minute classes on their schedule. The facilities are pristine. It's clear that the cleaning staff takes pride in maintaining all of the studio's amenities including the showers, spacious locker rooms, and pleasant lobby space. Everything is well-stocked including the cloth hand-towels, mouthwash, and even shaving cream in the bathrooms (thank you!) Also available is a variety of retail clothing items and the typical offerings of beverages (waters, kombuchas, and coconut waters.) Inversion also features on-tap local small-batch kombuchas! (My favorite.) The front desk is always manned with a staff member who is welcoming and accommodating. The studio is conveniently located directly in the midst of many of the popular lodging options in the area. It was a two-minute walk from my hotel and takes less than ten minutes to walk here from the town square with all of the restaurants, cafés, juice bars, and gourmet market. There's nothing as heavenly as getting a full view of the snow-capped Teton Mountain Range through the window while in a backbending posture. And on Wednesday, a moose came right up to the studio for a quick visit right after class! I'm often reluctant to visit studios while on the road away from home because typically, I find that the rooms are not hot enough for my standards but here at Inversion, they have a sophisticated high-tech heating system and a well-insulated room which keeps the class adequately hot and humid yet never stifling. Over the course of my six-day visit, I took some exceptional classes from Sarah Kline and the studio owner, Louise Sanseau. It's clear that the teaching staff here has an extensive and comprehensive base of knowledge and experience in a wide variety of styles of yoga. The teachers are consistent and compassionate. After class, it was nice to be exposed to some of the chanting and spiritual components of yoga with which I'm unfamiliar. As well as many other styles, Inversion offers the untainted traditional 26-posture series the way that it was originally prescribed by Bikram without alterations. These days, this is sometimes hard to find. The classes are well-attended but never feel over-crowded. (They enforce a maximum capacity policy for the more popular class times.) The practice room is spacious and bright. Between class, the staff changes over the room with efficiency and respect for those choosing to enjoy a longer savasana. Never did I feel rushed or in the way. The studio is very client-centered. And there's nothing like being handed an essential oil-infused cold town after class! Seeing as how Jackson is a tourist town, I'm sure that the studio sees their fair share of transients like myself. Yet they have managed to foster a kind and welcoming community of consistent yogis who seem to carry the core philosophy and principles of the studio. During my brief stay here, I encountered countless smiles and met some truly fascinating individuals. Inversion Yoga is a place to find serenity and peace in a geographic location which is overflowing with beauty and spirit. read more

The space is beautiful, the instructors are phenomenal, and I love that there are so many classes to choose from each day and such a variety of classes. Any time I travel and go to another studio, it doesn't measure up to Inversion. After five days of beating up my body snowboarding, I was stuck in town for 2 days of travel nightmares and physical/ mental anguish at the airport. Took Heidi's Restorative class to try and get right. Usually don't like these as I feel like I just lay around but it was still fairly rigorous, built some heat and undid everything wrong with my body. Left feeling great. Some days its nice to have mellow restorative classes, and other days its nice to push myself physically in the more advanced classes. Meh is the word I would use to describe the studio. The drop-in rate was crazy expensive, and the instructor was annoying - she kept telling people in the class that they must have had injuries at one point or another...just a little offensive? Also, one of the other members of the class was sighing so loudly to the point that it should not have been tolerated. Probably my last visit. read more
