Hands down, my favorite studio in town. I have yet to try an instructor that I don't like. Eric teaches amazing heated yoga classes, Amanda will kick your butt in ashtanga, and Molly and Amy will hand it to you in bar effect, where you do countless lunges and squats and pilates moves at the ballet bar. They offer an insane variety of yoga, pilates, special workshops, and advanced classes, and they have something for everyone in terms of scheduling. It's a little pricey at first glance for individual classes ($17, I believe), but if you follow them on Facebook, you can often find specials -- and there have also been a few Groupon deals. I also recommend arriving 10 minutes early to the bar effect classes and hot yoga classes, as they fill up quickly. read more

As a retired Naptown RollerGirl who's training for several 5k races this upcoming summer, I'm no stranger to the pains of getting into shape. Since I've retired from derby, I mostly just run and do strength training, but I haven't been sore from working out in a solid year or so. I thought my first Community Pilates class at Invoke was going to be a breeze, even though I've never really done Pilates before, but boy was I wrong. It was painful in the best way possible, and I absolutely fell in love with the studio. The staff and instructor were very welcoming and never did I feel silly or embarrassed when I just couldn't get my leg or arm to go as high as it was supposed to. The instructor welcomed me to her class and thanked me for coming. Not only did I get a good workout from Pilates, but I worked my abs as she was making me giggle throughout the hour long class. The studio is in walking distance from my apartment, and I can sign up and pay for any class I want to on their website. They even sent me an e-mail for a free class for my 25th birthday this past week, which made me love them even more. I will continue to keep going as long as my butt and abs can stand it. I just wish I had enough money to take a class every single day. read more

Stumbled across Invoke Yoga online while researching studios in Indy. I was travelling for work and wanted to catch a non-hot/power class. Invoke had just the class. When I emailed the studio for more info, the reply was friendly and quick. Check-in was also easy and friendly. I did register online ahead of time, then paid once I actually got to the studio. I had the great fortune of taking Ahna's Align & Flow class. She was a great instructor! While the class was large, she was hands-on and offered many great options for poses depending on your experience level. She also brought in a lot of traditional info (sanskrit terms, buddhist concepts, etc.) which I 'm a fan of. Highly recommend Ahna as an instructor and the studio as a whole. It can be scary walking into an unknown studio in a new city and everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful. read more

I've been practicing with Invoke via Zoom and it is phenomenal. There are many classes to choose from (various yoga classes, barre, and Pilates) and I'm seriously impressed with the instructors who consistently deliver thoughtful content, excellent cueing, and who consistently check the camera to engage and support those of us online. The price for unlimited LiveStream and On-Demand can't be beat, and the Invoke team is always there to help with questions about what options might work best for you. Of all the studios that offer Zoom classes, Invoke does it the best. I miss being able to practice in person, but I love that I can have access to such high quality instruction and selection from hundreds of miles away. Yesterday I was able to try the "Bar Effect" class at Invoke for free through a Yelp even and I was thoroughly impressed! I have danced for 10 years and have seen my share of dance and yoga studios and this was definitely the nicest one I have been to. Registration was simple and they had mats, weights and all that jazz there for us. I could definitely tell the instructor has had professional ballet training based on her technique. The class itself was great. We did a combination of exercise styles (Pilates, ballet bar and yoga) to keep things mixed up and interesting. The room was completely full which helped put on the pressure because if you quit early the half a dozen people would see you take an early break. The instructor did a great job of demonstrating multiple levels of each exercise so the regulars were still challenged and the newbies, like myself, could still test out our trembling-out-of-shape-muscles in exercises. She also had a good balance of challenging us without making me feel like I was at boot camp. Side note: This is a good exercise and meditation option for people with joint related injuries because the drills, if you will, strengthen muscles without heavy impact on your joints. read more

I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked Jillian's class at sunrise yoga and decided to check out the studio downtown and am so glad that I did! Every single class that I have been to has been taught by a teacher with a distinct personality and style, but all give clear instructions and are engaging and simply lovely. The teachers seamlessly teach and demo poses and sequencing while managing to provide adjustments around the room. My favorite class is the heated level 2/3 vinyasa class. It is HOT and makes you really feel like you're working hard in a way that feels so cleansing and good afterwards. By working hard I mean you are sweating literal buckets in 95F heat while moving through difficult sequences. I find Kara's classes to be the most challenging as she takes you through some boot-camp style sequences that really make your heart rate go up. Jillian's and Yvonne's classes are fun and peppy, Erin's classes are so satisfying and rewarding (and she has great taste in music... yes yes yes to Radiohead!). Honestly, every teacher whose class I have attended has been spot-on and enjoyable! I've also tried the Core HIIT class with Michael Hoess which had some good, high energy butt kicking, and Bailey Croke's Bar Effect class, which is a good mix of pilates/barre/yoga moves. The non-heated vinyasa classes are great for days when you are just pooped, still want to get in a good workout, but just aren't in the mood to get your ass kicked too hard. The sheer amount of sweat you lose really makes a difference! Make sure you hydrate during and after class! The studio is bright and spacious and the heated studio is newly renovated with some lovely features, like a fireplace in the front of the room. The surround sound is top notch in this studio as well. The other studio has wonderful natural lighting as it faces the street, but feels nice and private due to the frosted windows. There is a new student special online where you can get 2 weeks of unlimited classes for just $30 - take advantage of that and try out as many classes as you can! read more

Never have I had instructors that are just all over amazing in their style, voice, and helping with poses and I have had at Invoke. I've attended yoga classes in Chicago, New Orleans and at Invoke in Indy. I have to say that Invoke has been the best overall experience. When I made the decision to become a certified instructor, I chose Invoke due to my prior experiences as a student at Invoke. I'm set to graduate from the first Invoke Yoga Teacher Training class next week. Throughout the program, Amy, Eric, Ahna and the rest of the Invoke family were very welcoming and helpful. If you are thinking about certification, I highly recommend checking out the Invoke Yoga Teacher Training program. As a student, I always look forward to attending the diverse classes from heated yoga to challenging vinyasa. The yoga here is fantastic. I've never had a bad instructor or class. The yin yoga is ultimately relaxing and the vinyasa is a perfect flow. Classes feel welcome and unjudgemental. I only wish I could sign up for a package but the cost is a bit too high for me at the time. Still, they have a great deal on a newbie package (30 days for $39) and they hold multiple community classes every week for $10 each (normal class drop-in rates are $20). If you can afford it though, this is a great place. They hold over 100 classes a week of many varieties including heated classes (if that's your thing). read more

I really like Invoke Yoga. I have been to many of their classes (I've been there 22 times according to my account), and all of their instructors are friendly and helpful. I am not very flexible, so I appreciate all of the different modifications that they show in class. I had a car accident in June, and the studio was able to extend the length of my package because I was unable to do yoga for several months. I thought that was very helpful and above and beyond what I expected them to do. They have several different classes, and you can pick and choose which one to go to based on your schedule. This is helpful for me, as my schedule changes constantly! My only probably with Invoke is that I don't live downtown, so sometimes it takes a little extra motivation to drive there. However, once I get to the studio it is always worth it. read more

I'm new to the yoga/pilates craze and I can't think of a better place to learn the "downward dog" and "child's pose" than here. The space is cozy and intimate and nestled in the leafy St Joseph's area. They have a small lot but invariably I always have to park on the street, which isn't a huge deal. I've been to about a half-dozen sessions and these instructors have been consistently good. They help you out and don't make you feel like an idiot, even if you're as stiff as a board like myself. You can buy a package of about 10 lessons for about a hundred bucks, which I consider a pretty good deal considering what you're getting out of it: peace of mind, and not to mention killer abs. Thanks to these instructors, I'm addicted and even bought my own yoga mat. Give them a try and I guarantee you'll walk out a fan! read more

I did one session of Pilates - Ballet Bar workout. The session was great. The instructor provides techniques that are adaptable to your fitness level. The ballet bar portions not only helped you live out your inner Black Swan, but provided a great quad and calf workout. Furthermore, I suffer from back problems, and many of the floor exercises were similar to those given to me by my physical therapist. By the end of the session, my posture was improved and my lower back felt very relaxed and strong. The only issue I have with invoke is the price. A single session is $17. Though on your first visit, they do offer offer you a special of $30 for two weeks. If you are on a budget, as I am, Invoke is probably out of your price range. That being said there are lots of promotions so you may be able to get in at a much better price. read more

Wow wow wow. This place made me love yoga again. Love the variety of classes they offer at different levels, temperatures and time of day. I feel like I can always find a class that fits my schedule. The only negative I *had* was that I thought there wasn't a shower available. There is, it only took me four weeks to realize that. Haha. The instructors are very kind and helpful. They really make you feel comfortable practicing there, even if you're a little outside of your skill level. I feel like I learn something new each time. Maybe it's a small movement or maybe it's a breathing technique but each new thing builds upon the previous techniques which help you prepare for bigger more challenging movements. Very happy with my experience at Invoke! Being new to yoga I wasn't sure where to start. Invoke offers an Intro To Yoga workshop that was perfect for me... someone with no experience what so ever, ha! After completing the workshop I explored the different types of yoga classes offered because a 2 week unlimited class pass was included with the workshop. I've since found I prefer heated vinyasa yoga. My experience with Invoke's teachers and staff has always been professional and extremely helpful. They are well organized and the studio is clean. There's a free app you can download to check the schedule for classes and events that I use to sign up in advance. It's made my experience very easy. read more

I was in town visiting and found this studio on the internet. We were staying in the downtown area and it was easy to get to. So, the first day I walk into the studio thinking I would just try a few drop in classes while I was in town. When I explained this to the person working at the front desk, right away she suggested/ hooked me up with a multi class deal they had going on which saved me some coin! After class, someone named Amy who i think is the owner, suggested some fun things to check out while I was in town. I thought it was totally nice and I extremely appreciated it. The classes themselves were exceptional as well. I went to several vinyassa classes, and all the instructors were top notch. All of classes had a good flow and the instructors offered helpful adjustments on the postures. One class I got my sister to try; she hadn't done yoga before, and the instructor for that class gave her extra attention which i thought was really cool. First time trying out a Pilates reformer. This was a recommendation from a friend due to some back pain. Bailey was my instructor and she was great! I talked to her about my issues and she coached me through several basic moves on the reformer. Great for identifying some weaknesses and areas of improvement. Invoke provides such a welcoming and calming environment, and the instructors are knowledgeable and really care about guiding the participants through classes. As a beginner, I have felt very comfortable in this studio and loved the Intro to Yoga workshop to ease into my practice. I appreciate their efforts to keep their clients safe the past few months. I LOVE the Sunday evening Yin class, currently delivered online with Lucy. Invoke has truly embraced this change and by making classes available via Zoom, they are able to reach people all over and clients still get the benefits of a live instructor. While Invoke has done a great job at fostering a welcoming and safe space in studio, I have come to thoroughly enjoy being able to practice yoga in my own home with my comfy blankets and just listening to what my body needs, which is usually an EXTRA long shavasana :) Thank you Invoke for continuing to take care of your clients during quarantine. read more

My travels brought me to Indianapolis twice in 2019 and I have found Invoke to be one of my favorite yoga studios I have ever practiced at. When the COVID-19 pandemic started I discovered they offered online streaming classes and I've been taking classes from them almost everyday. I really enjoy this place! Such a peaceful and happy little studio. I have never consistently worked out... like ever! I have dabbled in yoga and pilates since my undergrad days, but I've never committed. I also personally hate the gym. I like this place because I can workout in a pretty environment and be challenged for the entire hour. Superficial at best! Every class has been such a challenge. Some instructors are better/more motivating than others, but all around I've really enjoyed my time at Invoke. I like switching up yoga with core sculpt, barre, and pilates. I really cannot stop talking about this place. I definitely wish it was a little more affordable though. read more

I tried just about every yoga studio in the city when I moved to Indy in search of a place that felt like home. I instantly knew Invoke was what I was looking for after my first class! This studio has it ALL. The variety of classes offered is amazing, truly making Invoke a one-stop shop for any studio class you might be interested in taking. Invoke is a great place and is like a family or group of friends. I have zero coordination and athletic ability and reformer Pilates is making a difference. I have private sessions with Maria Leek and she makes accommodations for some of my physical issues but also pushes me the right way to show me how much I can do. During this time of crisis, I have had several live video sessions with Maria via zoom, where she has adapted what I have done in the studio for at home. I've always wanted to try yoga. I've heard many great things about it and know passionate individuals that do it. Fair or not, I've always been reluctant to go into a studio for the first time and look like a fool in front of others. One of the silver linings for myself during this pandemic and being stuck at home having to work remotely full time was when I heard about Invoke's live-streaming zoom classes being offered. It peaked my interest and decided to try it for the first time. It was one of the best choices I could've made. I loved it. The teachers are great! They are very experienced and passionate about their practice. I also found it less scary for me starting out with the zoom classes because I was in my space where I felt safe to practice. The instructors never pressure you but encourage you continuously and now I'm really happy at my skill level and would feel comfortable to even go into a studio now. Additionally, my neck and back pain went away almost completely now and it's easier on my body then lifting weights and with the same results. I wouldn't have tried yoga if they didn't have the live-streaming or on demand options that Invoke offered. Invoke has done a fabulous job at transitioning themselves during this time. I highly recommend yoga to anyone and to try it with Invoke. If you're like me, try the zoom classes. They made the difference. read more

Since moving to Southern California my respect for Invoke has grown even more! I worked at Invoke for 8 years, 4 of which I taught pilates. No other studio I have ever set foot in compares. The yoga and pilates instructors are top notch and actually enjoy being there which is a testament to Amy the owner. Its' like HOT, HOT, HOT!! Ok so yes, that was a little cheesy, but seriously Yelpers, Hot yoga...ya tried it? Ya heard of it? No? GO DO IT! Talk about a seriously butt-busting work out not for the faint of heart! Little miss naive Yelper here thought she would attempt to do this work-out in long sleeves and with no hear tie, water, or towel. Folks let me be clear here. The room will get to 100 degrees. You will be doing intense yoga, and you will sweat...alot! But folks when you are finished, you will feel incredible! This was by far one of my favorite yoga session I have had yet. My muscles felt so loose and relaxed after-wards, I can totally see how a weekly session of this would turn you into an iron man! Now this was my first and (as of yet!!) only class a have taken at Invoke, but I am excited to hopefully try more! They offer a wide array of yoga classes that I have no doubt are just as exhilarating and relaxing in their lovely studio. Two thumbs up from this gal! read more

Invoke is definitely a yoga studio you are needing if you are living downtown. It's clean, beautiful with open windows where you can get that ray of sunshine. I have never taken a yoga class here but it's definitely on my list to do since I'm currently living and working downtown. Laziness has got the worst of me by not taking a class here. I found myself here for annual doga (doggies + yoga) and 100% of the proceeds go to FACE (local animal charity). Don't set out to be here to take a serious class. It's really 1 hour of fun for really you and your pup. It's really a fun class for all dogs of size. Of course you probably can't carry a big dog in one arm while trying to do a warrior pose or do yoga wheels with them but there are other alternative moves. Invoke really needs to make this a regular class, I would sign up everytime! This class is really once a year and fills up pretty quick. Although my bubs isn't into the class and feeling quite hostile with the other pups, she was quite relaxed most of the time and once we got home she was completely passed out. Yoga got here quite exhausted! I definitely need to sign up for the other classes! My yoga moves was feeling quite rusty during Doga!! read more

Being new in town, but not new to pilates...I'm looking for a pilates studio. I tried a drop in class at Invoke ($18) and was disappointed. The class was okay, but not once did the instructor walk around the class or move from her mat at the front of a large room to adjust anyone or see how people were doing. Also, the floor was uneven and the carpet was ratty and old. Not good for a mat class where there are some balance exercises. At the front desk, the person who checked me in was extremely unwelcoming. She knew that I was new to the studio, but didn't offer me any welcome...she didn't even say hi. When I was paying for my drop-in class, I asked about some cards at the front desk that said, "First class free." I asked, "Is the first class free?" The woman at the desk said, "Only if you have a referral." No apology or explanation. I see. I'm not in club, so I paid $18 for a class that was mediocre and inconsiderate treatment. Needless to say, not going back and I wouldn't recommend it. read more

I adore Invoke. I took my very first yoga class here and have attended various classes over the years. The staff is always friendly and helpful. It is such a peaceful and pleasant environment. They offer a wide variety of classes for varying levels. Recently, I attended one of the monthly Meditation/Pranayama class. It is a great class to learn about breathing and meditation. The class is free although there is a suggested $5 donation benefiting Growing Places Indy. This is definitely a win-win! I really enjoyed this class. Our instructor Laura is so honest, patient, and has such a soothing voice. The building is close to the stress, so at times traffic was a bit loud, but nothing too bad. If you don't have a mat or various materials, don't worry they have you covered. I plan to continue attending the meditation classes. They also offer yoga on Monument Circle for $15. This is high on my list of classes to try. If you are curious about yoga or are trying to debate between the numerous yoga studios to check out, do yourself a favor and add Invoke to your list. Always willing to make the class just a little extra special given the day and the attendees. I work next door and this makes workouts just a little bit easier as I'm not a morning person/nor an evening person when it comes to getting my butt in gear. I have been going to Invoke for almost two years now and it has been one of the better decisions I have made in my life. They variety of classes provided here allow you to mix up your work out or stick to a particular practice of your choosing. The instructors are all friendly, helpful and passionate about what they do. I was never a person that was able to get up early and work out, but because of my excitement I have for the classes I now do. It has been a great addition to my routine! This is a solid yoga studio. Pros: Tons of classes offered daily. For a busy professional or student, it's great to have so many options to choose from. You can reliably find a vinyasa class in the early morning, mid-day, early evening or late evening almost every day. Other pros include the quality of instruction - these classes are not a joke. I have been to many yoga studios all over the country and the classes at Invoke are consistently quality. You can expect a good workout, but never feel pressured to go beyond your limits.... I appreciate that the instructors are very clear about this at the beginning of each session. Cons: The hot yoga classes can be annoyingly overbooked. There appears to be no limit to how many people can sign up or show up for these classes - they consistently cram as many people in that room as physically possible. I get it, there are lots of people who want to practice and it is a noble goal to try and serve everyone, but it interferes with my experience if I feel like I might take out the person next to me while I'm doing sun salutations. If you do yoga for the stretching and lengthening aspects, this really might bother you. (Note: I have noticed that Invoke seems to recognize this problem - they have recently opened a new location farther north. I also notice that they are offering classes later than before; they now go until 9:30). Overall, I'd recommend. Give it a try! read more

This is a great place if you are a young, hip, pushy college student looking for free heat or ac but it is not very welcoming to busy professionals. It is not somewhere I would send my mother. The building is beautiful and the classroom I have been in was nice. Many of the instructors are better than ones I have had other places. They have a store but it isn't really a place I feel like I can look around. My biggest complaint is that they should limit class sizes to what fits in the room or get rid of the sign up function on the website since it is only used to take money away from students. Since they require you to sign up for the class on their website that led me to believe that they did limit class sizes and the class I signed up for had room for me. I was very disappointed when I had to leave because they didn't have enough room for everyone that showed up. The atmosphere was very unwelcoming as everyone just stared at the four of us in the doorway looking for room to put our mats down. No one made any effort to make space and were glued to the floor. Those of us who aren't outgoing shouldn't have to ask people to make space when they are already squeezed too close together. The owner/manager is more concerned about her reputation and making lots of money than the students who attend class at the studio. While some of the instructors are welcoming I never felt comfortable there the way I feel I should at a yoga studio. read more
