Dr Young, 5 years ago referred us to their affiliate allergy center next door, and they said my daughter was allergic to everything, after a prick test. These people were NOT Board Certified from before 2018- until who know if they are now after their submitted my complaint to the Iowa Medical Review Board. Details below: I took my daughter here to see Dr. Etan Young for coughing symptoms. On the first visit, Dr. Etan Young did not use his stethoscope to listen to her chest or back, instead he listened to me narrate her history over the last few years (of her intermittently getting a cough that would not go away for a couple of weeks). He told me he did not need to listen to her chest because from what I had told him he was sure it was asthma and to continue using the ibuterol inhaler and recommended I get in with the allergy center. He said the allergy center was a separate entity managed through them. I set an appointment at the allergy center at that time which was ,"United Allergy", the same building and down the hall from where we were seen by Dr. Young. As suggested by Dr. Young, we made an appointment at that particular allergy center. They conducted a prick test and determined Emilie was allergic to everything (all grasses, trees, weeds, mold, dust mites, feathers, cock roaches ). They said we should start her on allergy shots right away. The first 2 round of shots were done in their office and after ensuring we could confidently administer the shots on our own, they instructed us to administer the shots to her at home and return for the new vials containing higher doses each month. Once we were made aware of my daughter's allergies, we made sure to do everything possible to make her less susceptible to coming in contact with these allergens as much as possible. (We purchased special pillowcase and mattress covers, paid for a deep cleaning on our home without harsh chemicals, had our entire homes ducts cleaned, removed all stuffed animals from her bed, bought chemical free products, and kept our daughter inside on high pollen days (there were many times she was not outside playing with friends because of her alleged expansive allergies. We were very fortunate that an encounter of the mother of one of Emilies classmates, Dr Young, 5 years ago referred us to their affiliate allergy center next door, and they said my daughter was allergic to everything, after a prick test. Saw Dr today, it went good nice and informative, waited to schedule surgery and had another appointment, they said the scheduler would call, never did, I left a voice mail twice, nothing they promised they would call back as I have another procedure scheduled, and needed o know today what I was supposed to do, I feel like I don't matter and may go elsewhere for this because if I have issues post op, will anyone call back. read more

I felt the need to come and balance out the one single ridiculous yelp review about our favorite ENT office. This is just a good lesson in how people usually only speak up to complain. Anyone reading this review and considering this office for either themselves or their children, please know that this is the most respected ENT clinic in the area. My son has very complex medical problems, so unfortunately we are very familiar with a laundry list of specialists. So trust me when I say I know my way around a good office and a bad office. I know the difference between a good provider and a bad provider. Dr Young takes care of our little boy and he takes care of pretty much every medically complex child in our area. In fact, I just recommended him to someone today, which is when I saw the shocking (yet solitary) 1 star review while going to copy and paste the phone number. I'm familiar with other people who work in this office as well. The people that work here really know their stuff and their hearing booth is state of the art. So happy to have a wonderful ENT clinic near us! read more

Usually I have great things to say about this practice. I'm more than a bit upset this time. I explained that our insurance was changing and my wife was out of work for a few weeks and asked for a payment plan for my first post op appt after sinus surgery. Of, course they said, "no." It's ok to charge my insurance and I $5k but to ask for a small bit of assistance to give us a few weeks to pay for a post op (which should be free because they never even bothered to check up on me after my surgery!). I like dr Simplot and his staff is super nice. But, when money becomes the only motivator and patient care ceases to exist, then it's time to start looking for another ENT...now that we will be insured again. Wow! Just wow! I took all three kids there plus myself. I'm sure I paid the surgeons' kids first college tuition for the first year. And, when you've been a great customer paying your bills and ask for something as small as a short payment plan due to temporary unemployment and they just act completely indifferent. Smh read more

I know when I've been duped. It doesn't feel good and it isn't fun. I went to the Iowa ENT Clinic to have some ear infections and ringing checked out; having never had these problems I thought it was strange. I saw the doctor (Heidi Close, a doctor I suppose) for a grand total of 60 seconds. She did only what my GP did, and then told me to buy ear plugs ($10). No joke, they billed me $1,200 for the 60 seconds with Heidi Close and the same hearing test you received when you were in middle school. I tried to ask every possible question I could think of, being that I was dumbfound as to why I was suddenly getting infections. Close answered them in the same way you get answered at the DMV. She effectively told me: you're fine. Of course that isn't what an ear infection feels like, it feels like a knife stabbing you in the head. But, the doctor said I was fine, so it must have all been in my head. Needless to say, I will never, ever, go back. read more

The first time I met Dr Simplot it was with my son's ear condition. He rebuild his eardrum and gave him back 80% hearing. Then he fixed another son's nose ( messed up from years of high school wrestling). The third meeting was for my grand daughter who had tonsils and adnoids removed. Now it is my turn. He is helping me with constant sinus trouble and allergies. I would rate the offices the highest because every person who works there has always been kind and very nice to all of us. They have answered questions and relieved anxieties even before the doctor came into the room to visit with us. Dr Simplot talked us through each surgery before he performed them and answered any questions we might have had. There have been no side effects from any of the surgeries. read more

i went to mayo in minn. for routine hearing test. lump found near ear. i was in shock when doc said face surgery. i went back to des moines and was able to get in with dr. simon wright on short notice. he recommended surgery. i studied his profile and he has a phd. has a professional manner, had a professional office/staff. and seems to be about 47 years old which i view as good age for surgeon......i see hes a distance runner so he takes care of himself. hes very confident and that energy comes across in a good way. i had surgery 5 days ago and his service seems very good. i would recommend. and im extremely picky. i usually go to mayo in minn. for service but in this case he convinced me he was best surgeon i could hope for.....i did have a personality conflict with his nurse as she thinks i was bothering the office too much with questions , etc. .......but she isnt the surgeon. so i overlook that. i checked out dr. wright and he is very respected in the des moines area. top notch read more
