The event center is a convenient location and is used for a variety of events through the year. Today we attended the home and garden show. Events usually have paid parking options but it's definitely worth cruising around to see if you can find street parking. My review is a bit different. I'm reviewing the parking lot that is shared between Iowa Events Center and Wells Fargo Arena. Last month, I attended my first Iowa Wild game. I was looking for a place to park and saw a huge parking lot across from Wells Fargo Arena. I circled around and entered this parking lot. I had the nicest woman attending the lot. It was $10 to park. She accepted both credit cards and cash. I used a credit card and all went well. She was great to chat with, hoping that the Wild would win. Me, too! I wished her a great evening and went to find a place to park. There was plenty of parking. I got here perhaps an hour before the game started. It's likely the closest parking lot to the arena. The walk took no time and it was enjoyable on a warm October evening that felt like summer. My rental car was safe here for the next three to four hours. It was easy leaving the parking lot. No complains. The rate was decent to park here for a sporting event. I had a wonderful experience and would park here again for future Wild games. (444) read more

We had a work event here over the course of 2 days, lots of great useful space. Very spacious and apparently well kept facility. The staff was friendly, helpful and efficient. Hopefully I'll get back for another event someday. read more

I've been here for the Des Moines marathon packet pick-up several times. It seems like a good building with a solid structure. But really, it's easy to get to. There is street parking available. The bathrooms are clean. easy to get in and out. read more

Yeeehaw! Got to put a giddy up in my step and check out wells Fargo PBR rodeo. When we arrived we went to the south doors to the box office. The security at the entrance was good. They are quick and have a good system to get you through the lines fast. Once inside we found our seats. They were pretty good for viewing wise. We soon discovered though there was less leg room than being on an airplane. We struggled a little, but then someone sat in front of us and when they moved it bounced off our knees. It was almost painful. I think that's what brought my rating down. Otherwise there are drinks and treats ad's fun for all. The rodeo put on a good show and I am glad I got to go. It amazes me how one evening the flow of the arena could be covered in dirt and the next be set up for ice hockey. read more

We came here for the home and garden show. The show itself seemed expensive at $14, just to look at companies showcasing their services and items for sale. The events center is a nice building with so many options for events. From smaller rooms to ballrooms and the huge main Hall where the show was at. read more

I have really enjoyed almost every event at the Iowa Events Center. From Roller Derby to concerts to the Beer & Wine Expo. It's all great, and a great venue. The place is generally very clean and well kept. The staff are generally polite and seem to be happy and social. It's easy to pick up your tickets at will call as well as get into the event using said ticket. It's a great place to meet like minded people with similar interests as well. And the recent Wine & Beer Expo was fantastic. A lot of options and variety. I already posted my pictures from the event. Everyone I'm aware of that went had a great time and definitely wants to return to the next event. And I'm looking forward to many more events here to come, as well as Yelp events which are almost always my favorite :) read more

Well the Iowa Events Center is top notch! I have been here a handful of times and actually performed at the Half Time of an Energy Game once.. So I have been up/down and all around this venue! Including the behind the scenes a bit! I got 2nd row seats for Bob Dylan, but I have also sat up in the nose bleeds for Fleetwood Mac. The seats are comfortable, the sight lines are great! The venue is super modern and clean. The bathrooms are nice! The score board/projection screens are big and bold, and most importantly the sound in the venue is actually really, really good! The venue is very handicapped accessible and the staff has always been super nice. Naturally the prices of concessions and beer prices are a little pricey but that comes with the territory! I'm super excited that we have it here, and will continue to support it as they get the biggest shows in Des Moines! read more

Good staff, nice arena, expensive alcohol. I mean what more can you ask for ! :). If you are short maybe go for side arena seating low to the floor as possible. Floor seating is not tiered so may have trouble seeing. read more

Attended the Home and garden show for the first time and this was actually my first time at the Iowa Events Center and I must say I am impressed! The venue is huge! However there was plenty of signage letting us know where things were. There were plenty of concessions stands if you got hungry and chairs or tables to take a break! It was really easy to walk from a near by parking garage through the skywalk right into the Events Center without stepping foot in the cold!! Which that is another huge perk. Tons of parking nearby from their main lot to garages nearby! A shoutout to DMPD for taking care of traffic and keeping it moving! I will definitely be back to attend another event!!! read more

We have enjoyed coming here for many years and many types of events. This time we were here for the Des Moines Wizard World Comic Con. It was myself and my daughter. This was our second year attending. We've had great fun both years as we've also known some of the artist that attend as well as just enjoy everything that is going on. There isn't much that I'd change about this place. Like everywhere else you go to these kind of venues, the prices for everything is pretty high including food, drink and parking. All in all, this has been a great addition to Des Moines and I look forward to going to many more events here! read more

Had an absolutely positively wonderful time, seen all the monster trucks vouch for points, and my nephew even got an autogragh from Grave Digger himself!!! I got to see a guy blow up scared the begeezes out of me, and seen a woman blow out of a cannon!!!! WooHoo!! Gotta say, its loud, there proud to go boundless and tear em' up fun!! I love how Monster Jam goes all out to keep the crowd goin!!! YEEEEEHA!!! My fav is Grave Digger too! But Scooby Doo took the cake when she landed on her side!!! read more

Been here for a few events and most recently for a concert in the old vets auditorium. We came on a Sunday night for Lana Del Rey. It was a bit confusing as no one knew which door would be the best to enter from, once inside thought there were plenty of signs to tell us where to go. After we found where the line actually was we had to go a ways back to find the end. The lines moved pretty slow and we found out once we got closer it was because there was another line coming from the other direction! Once we got through the first doors both lines combined into a cluster and it was even more chaotic. Luckily the security moved quickly and it didnt take long to get upstairs and into the venue. We had some time before the show started so decided to get some drinks, which took FOREVER. They had seceral "bars" with only a few select drinks but something was causing the lines to move at a drastically slow pace. When we finally got inside the crowd was almost to the door making it hard for shorter people like us to see but luckily we found a couple of seats on the side bleachers and were able to stand throughout the show and ended up with a pretty great view. I would definitely see another show here but maybe figure out a better route to get in and a faster line for drinks! read more

Attended the Thomas Rhett "Very Hot Summer" tour last weekend and had a great experience overall! The event center hosted a "pre-concert" tailgate party which was nice, however was wishing they had had more food truck options. Once in the event center we were assisted with finding our seats. We then went looking for our cold beverages which were outrageously priced as always. Overall great show, great venue, just pricey food and beverages! Keep bringing the great shoes!! read more

I think it's not too late for my review. (I just now noticed that it's been sitting in my draft) Wow! I lived in Des Moines for more than 4 years and the Iowa Event Center has been blessing us with a lot of good events in such a small city in Iowa. The most recent event that I went to was the Wizard World Con. This place is huge and didn't know how big the place is. It's a plus that this place is a walking distance from our work since when there are events, it will be tricky to find a spot to park so might as well park somewhere else. So we were able to park in our office. We came in before lunch time which was a bad timing since you'll get hungry and would end up buying expensive food. Like expensive corn dog, nachos and $2 small water. Good thing we stop by somewhere for breakfast and since I have kids with me, as a mom, I would always snacks in my bag just so that I won't be pressured to buy something. It was a weekend event that's why there was a lot of people but this is Iowa, people are not going to crowd you and be rude in any way. Now we're living here in NorCal, I get jealous every time I hear there's a Con going on in Des Moines. Lol! Especially for the past couple of years they held WWE here too which I think is pretty awesome. There has never been an incident when there's an event happening here so it's safe to bring the kids over here and just have fun. I would love to come back here if there's a good event coming up that will worth for us to fly out here. read more

What a facility! This place is huge, well appointed, clean, and well maintained. We attended the Home and Garden Show and wandered through spacious exhibits for hours and still did not manage to make it through the entire building. And then we found out there is a second level! Wow! They even have a Starbucks, which , I say, with all the energy expended walking around, the caffeine boost is a bonus!!! The downside is that the parking kind of sucks. Much of the parking is shared with the Wells Fargo Arena and other businesses, so it can be quite a process to find a spot within decent walking distance. That goes for the Handicapped parking, as well, which is a sad situation, and can be prohibitive to some individuals ability to attend events. Had will call tickets for the general admission area of the fall out boy concert. The will call office was open at 10am that morning, much earlier than venue's offices generally open. Getting our tickets only took a few minutes, though the staff didn't seem entirely prepared. Where to wait to enter and the way the venue handled their opening was a little confusing, we weren't really told much and staff didn't seem to entirely know either, which could have caused issues for us had we not more or less guessed correctly where to wait. Getting into the general admission area was smooth, just showed them our ticket and they gave us a bracelet to allow us entry. Concessions were expensive like any venue, I believe I paid $5 for a pretzel and $3 for a cup of water, which they did refill for me. Overall a nice arena, you can tell it's definitely better equipped for sports events though. read more

I cannot believe how they can change ticket prices so much that the people who bought early in a certain price range get screwed and can't even upgrade to better seating for the value if what they paid for. I paid 69.50 in 300 section and now you can purchase for $19.50 in the same section. Absolutely ridiculous and unfair! read more

Full service venue for sports, entertainment, etc. Large enough for mid/big events but seating arranged to keep views great. Street parking can be a challenge for large events, but ramps and lots are available. Plenty of concessions inside. Near Court Avenue and East Village entertainment/dining areas. read more

Nice event center in Des Moines. There are events going on here year round and ticket prices are usually pretty reasonable. I found the staff working the ticketing both very friendly and the stadium nice and clean. Concessions variety isn't terrible, but I have seen better. I would definitely recommend checking out a show or event at the arena. read more

Private lot available if you do not mind paying for parking, $7. A short walk and a skywalk is available from downtown locations. Entry on north or south side of the arena. Very large and spacious inside. They do wand you and search your bags upon entry. Staff are wearing bright pink coats if you need help with something. Make your way to your seats and check out the vendors along the way. Standard food available which is nothing to write home about. I would recommend eating before your come. The restaurant isn't very good either and is super over priced. Seating in the arena is good. Pretty comfortable. Bathrooms are nice and usually pretty clean. Escalator and elevators available for those who need them. It is a pretty typical arena but the prices they charge for the food and drinks is definitely gouging us. read more

Couldn't check in to the Wells Fargo arena, but I believe these two are connected if I am not mistaken. Went with our pup to see the Iowa wild game. If you come from a city with a hockey team playing in the NHL, this is like the baby arena version of your city's arena. They offer the typical hockey game food- pizza, hot dogs, popcorn, beers, etc. One complaint I have is that the guy at the door at the north end of the building kept telling us and other dog owners to go to the south end of the building to pick up our tickets and then come back to the north end to come in. When we got to the south end, the guys working at the south end told us we would have to go to the north end to get our tickets. It would have been nice if they were all on the same page for where dog owners can pick up their tickets instead of making us go back and forth. In addition, they couldn't find our tickets so we had to wait for that too. Overall they just seemed to be disorganized here. I had an okay experience but it could have been better. read more
