The main thing Lynn Valley Centre has going for it is how it packs a bunch of essential stores into…read morea very compact, rapid shopping experience. Usually I do my weekly shop at the Park & Tilford Save On closer to my house, but if I have library books to take back or I need to pick up wine/beer, the Lynn Valley mall is perfect. There's Kin's for your produce, Westlynn Bakery for bread, Westlynn Meats & Seafood for fresh fish & specialty meats, a health food store that stocks my fave shampoo, the liquor store (apparently now open until 9pm!), and also the smallest, most inconveniently sized Save On Foods in the world. Luckily, by the time I get to Save On, I've already bought most of what I need, so I don't have to spend too much time in there. Then it's just a quick walk over to the library and my errands are done.

I love Save On Foods, Kin's Market, Westlynn Bakery, and Westlynn Meats & Seafood. I haven't been around long enough to begin to understand why there is an old Safeway in operation across the parking lot. Zellers, Shoppers, and Winners come in handy if you need household goods or discount clothing. The Black Bear Pub and Oshin provide some decent dining options. However, I do prefer Lynn Valley Pet Foods & Supplies across the street over the Pet Habitat in Lynn Valley Centre.

It's been quite awhile since I felt the urge to review a supermarket but my lunch at this Save On…read moreFoods really stood out in my mind. Being a supermarket, it wasn't exactly a fancy meal. I had a greek salad which isn't anything extraordinary on its own. However, this Greek salad was somewhat unique in the way that it was packaged. It came in a cup and was labelled Greek Shaker Cup. There was a bit of space left at the top of the cup so that you could shake up the ingredients and in that way everything was nicely tossed and the flavor of the feta cheese was nicely distributed over the veggies. I was also quite impressed with the seating area that we found at this Save On Foods. Not every Save On Foods has a seating area for people to sit down and eat. This one not only had places for us to sit and eat but they were also equipped with outlets for people to plug in their phones for charging! Also, there was a little bucket of crayons for kids to do some colouring and a sign that said, "Battery low? Ask our service desk for a charger during your visit." So impressed with this Save On Foods! This place isn't really near any of the places we usually frequent when we're on the North Shore but I would still happily come back here for a simple meal again one day!

This is a nice place. Save on Foods are always clean. I would be careful when looking at prices…read morethough. The display price says $4.99 so I would automatically think it's a good deal from $5.99. I took two. I asked a store employee nearby if these are the fish that's $4.99 each. He said yes. Felt it was a good deal. When I was paying it was over $12 each. Asked customer service they said it's per 100 grams. I didn't take it as you can imagine my expectation is $4.99 then it's over $12, big difference. I don't know why stores insist on displaying prices as per gram. It's just misleading. And it's a waste of time. When I asked the employee before I took it, it was a chance to correct my mis-perception if you call it that. No it had to be when I'm paying before I discover it. You feel good thinking you have a good discount turns out it's not. Do they think you'll take it anyway? It's not a good experience!

As well as whenever I wanted to buy some snacks or particularly some Coca Cola or Barq's Root Beer in a very convenient spot. The employees here that I've bumped into over the years had usually been pretty friendly. The only thing I'd change is that they do a preemptive strike on the price by raising it dramatically, like up to $3 right now. Reason is because due to inflations, I'm sure that its almost next to impossible to find the items they wanted that they could sell for $1.50, which is as of February 2022, the price they're starting to sell some of their items for. So might as well get ahead of this thing, but also the other reason is because by raising the price up a bit, it also will allow them to provide a much more selections of items. Like better selections for canned food or other foods. Regardless, its pretty fun to walk around in there to find any potential treasure or good bargain (many items aren't, but still,.... Doesn't negate the notion that it's still fun to look around in.). If not, then just grab a cheap drink and not be thirsty afterwards regardless if you were shopping for hidden bargains here or not. Lol
