I had a problem with my VW Jetta's engine immobilizer. Two trips to the dealership didn't fix the problem, so I reached out to Irmo Lock Company. Guy worked for several days on the car, and truly went above and beyond. I'm talking ordering circuit maps, talking with colleagues at other lock companies, and even coming in on a Sunday to work on it. He finally was able to disable the immobilizer and I haven't had any problems with starting the car since then, which I can NOT say was the case with the VW dealer. Guy charged me a reasonable fee for his service, especially given how much work and time it took to solve the problem. I actually offered to pay him more, knowing that it was a tough job, and he wouldn't let me. Irmo Lock Company is an honest business that does good work--unfortunately, that seems to be increasingly uncommon. Irmo is a strange place. There are times when it feels like a city, and that's nice. You get to shop at target. There are times when it feels like a small town where there are family-owned businesses who connect with their communities and go the extra mile to give excellent service. You get Irmo Lock Company. I stopped in their shop to bring in some deadbolts to get rekeyed before I installed them to match the doorknobs. The price was very reasonable. I paid for all three what I thought it would cost per lock. I'm serious. It's crazy not to get this done. I almost cannot believe more people don't do it if they aren't able to get matching sets when they purchase new locks. I think it's really that they just don't know. I sat in the shop for about 20 minutes while the service was done and call after call came in and they were zooming in and out to be there almost immediately. I couldn't believe it was that easy to get service from a locksmith. A woman came in needing her house rekeyed and they promised to stop by within an hour or two. I couldn't believe it. Such amazing service. Although I didn't do it this visit, they are able to make extra keys for higher end vehicles. My mother's spare key to her BMW was lost by a mechanic who promised but never replaced it. It's nice to know there's somewhere that it can be copied. We'll definitely do it in the future. read more

He would not make a key to my car for various reasons, even though my vehicle was at a shop in another city. He required documentation to prove I was the owner and when I provided that he said he needed something else. I would never recommend this company to anyone needing a locksmith or any other services. I have never been questioned as if I was trying to steal my OWN car. I have a transportation company here in the Columbia/Irmo area. Often times when purchasing a used vehicle for the fleet it only comes with one FOB or spare Key. I used to think it was too expensive to get a replacement, but after calling Irmo Lock I know better. I walk in, and within 5 minutes I have a new spare and key FOB and at a price that's much better than the dealerships. They have always been very helpful and friendly.
