Very well kept and organized campground! The lawns are green the spaces are a little tight but mostly level and gravel. They do have a tiny pool, we did not use it. My wife did laundry and said they were good machines. The only negative, there is a train depot very close and the trains run all night. Yes they honk them super loud horns too! A lot! The park was virtually empty. We arrived about an hour before checking in and the clerk gave me attitude because we were early letting me know. She was doing us a favor checking in. I have been coming to Ironhorse for many years and have always appreciated the warm hospitality and excellent service. Unfortunately, this year's experience was quite different. Upon arrival, the person who checked us in was unexpectedly curt and unfriendly, which was disappointing given the consistently welcoming environment we've experienced in the past. We were assigned a site that turned out to be too small for our rig, and although there were three larger, empty sites nearby that would have accommodated us, I was told -- quite bluntly -- that they were taken. Now, two days later, those sites are still unoccupied. It's disappointing to feel unwelcome at a place we've enjoyed so much over the years. Sadly, this experience has led us to consider finding a new park for our future visits. KOA Elko close by and less per night. read more

We were assigned site 80. The parking spot was unlevel requiring a lot of blocks to get it even close. The sewer hookup was up a hill making it totally unusable. To top it off, the wifi was old (2.4), intermittent and worthless. The lawn sprinklers woke us up at 2am hitting the RV not the grass leaving hard water spots on the windshield and side. Over 50% of the sites where occupied by long-term residents. I would NOT stay here again! read more

The sites are well maintained. Nice grass in between sites and a few other areas to walk your dog Very few items in the store. The pool is small and the Wi-Fi is horrible. Nice game room and TV lounge (which separate from the game room). IN their rules it says if your rude to employees you will be booted. What that means is the employees are aloud to be rude to you. Good thing that didn't happen cause I don't hold back. We needed some small branches trimmed but they wouldn't let the worker do it with our rig there cause they don't want to get sued if they scratch the side. I dis it myself. Better than my slide running They did give us a credit us back for being a veteran. It doesn't show on the website. Call to make your reservation and they will apply it. It's been a couple years, but back again and still just as friendly and clean as ever. Definitely would stop back again on another cross country trip. We've traveled cross country as well as within CA where we are owner/members of a S. Cal RV resort. This is not a resort, but I wouldn't expect it to be for the reasonable price. It is a wonderful stop over on the way through, or if you are in town, I'd say it's the best choice for a stay. We had a back in deluxe spot which seems more private with the grass behind us and the grass patches between units is just not something you find out this way anywhere else. The showers and restrooms are the best of any I've seen traveling over many state lines. Immaculate, fun, and even some toiletries available if you don't happen to have yours. We stayed here for the first night of our cross country trip. Check in was easy and they gave us a map with all of the info we needed. Our spot was right up front next to a few full time residents. There was sewer, water and 30/50 amp hook ups. The pad was flat and we didn't need any levelers. We had a nice grass area for the kids and dog to play and everything worked well. We checked out the mini pool and hot tub. Kids were happy with the pool but larger humans may want to go up to the hotel pool. The hot tub wasn't very hot either. We used the showers and they were clean and the water was hot. There was also a game room with pool, foosball and ping pong. Looks like a good place to hang out and play some games. A solid spot if you're looking for somewhere to hook up your trailer/RV. read more

The Iron Horse RV resort is very clean. A bit sparse on the lawn areas. Some shade trees which are nice. Checked out the pool. Hardly big enough for the amount of occupants. The dog park is a grassy enclosure with a couple of chairs in a gazebo. A clean game room. Play area for kids. Resort might be pushing it. A good reminder why we prefer campgrounds. read more

We stayed at Iron Horse RV Park in early August 2022. We were in pull-Thru site 29 with FHU. We arrived late and the office had our paperwork in the night registration area. The site was crushed granite with a concrete patio area and table. The site was not level. The hookups were convenient and modern. Cable TV was excellent. Site 29 is next to the worlds smallest pool and a hot tub. There is a nice rec room attached to the front office with a tv/ game tables/ reading area and pool table, ping pong table, air hockey table and foozball table. The laundry and showers are clean and nice. We would stay here again when in the area. read more

upon first glance, this RV park looks like it would be great. However, once we got into the park, it's been taken over by full timers. This, in and of itself, is not a bad thing. The bad thing is that they've not kept up the cleanliness around their RVs. One has an entire fridge outside their rig, several motorcycles--one that doesn't run--, and a full on residential recliner. It's amazing how much a little junk can change your perspective. In addition to that, there are so many off leash dogs that I was nervous to even play outside with my 2 year old. Rightfully so apparently. We were actually attacked by one of these off leash dogs. Plus, no one picks up their dog waste and there is an abundance of dog waste in the grass. The maintenance and groundskeepers just leave trash that is left behind so there is a plethora of garbage laying around. The pool that they boast on their website would fit maybe 3 adults. It's sad really to even call it a pool when there are kiddie pools larger and deeper than it. I cannot stress this enough--go to the KOA that's 200 yards up the road. Let me reiterate, do not stay here. read more

AWARENESS: Iron Horse RV Resort was an overnight stay while traveling to and from South Dakota. We stayed overnight in both June and July of 2022. NARRATIVE: Iron Horse RV Resort is an oasis in the desert. A very welcome sight after pulling a 5th wheel 400 miles. In our stay in June of 2022, we were fortunate to grouped in four pull through spots together. But on our return trip home in July of 2022, we were placed in three back-in spots, with the rear of our trailers backed up to a hillside (nice). Iron Horse has lots of trees. Lots of shade. Lots of grass and many activities to do both inside the club house and around the grounds. SCENE: Iron Horse RV Resort sits right off the I80 Freeway in the city of Elko, Nevada. Its about a 45 to hour drive from Wendover Nevada (gambling) and about an hour from the Utah border. And even though the campground is right off the freeway, the nights are quiet. Right outside the campground and down the road are several places to eat, shop and get gas (diesel). There are also a few casinos in the area. RECOMMENDATION(S): I wish our stays were more than two days because this campground is gem. read more

I have mixed feelings about Iron Horse. We've stayed here a few times, and the last two we've run into some snafus. On the plus side: the grounds are clean, there's showers and bathrooms, a game room, laundry room, a living room with TV, a small pool and a jacuzzi on site. However, the last two times we've been booted from our reserved sites. I understand there's a disclaimer that sites are not guaranteed, so why not just NOT assign them when making a reservation? This was inconvenient when our three parties were traveling together and we were banking on being together. We will probably still come here again because it always seems like it's a convenient one night stop on our road trips. We just won't have our heart set on a specific site. read more

Nice, clean. The Website says WiFi which was a necessity for us. We have poor cell service outside of large cities with metro by t mobile. So I booked on line well in advance. We drove a day to get here for a weekend event at the Elko County fairgrounds. We needed internet to research restaurants, grocery, routes around town, museums, etc. No WiFi. They called in their provider to fix. The tech was in all day Friday, then he gave up and left. I was told he will be back Monday. I leave Sunday. The heated out door pool is ten foot by about four... The indoor pool is a three quarter mile walk up a steep hill at a neighboring hotel.. unhooking rv to drive there seemed pointless. The three trash dumpsters were close enough to our site to hear the trash truck at Oh dark thirty Saturday early AM open each squeaky gate, wheel out each dumpster, lift, and bang dump them from my bed. Friday morning very early AM we awoke to "rain?" Which turned out to be an eight foot geyser from a broken sprinkler head next to us. Pet friendly. We enjoyed the train noises. read more

We had a reservation here for a one night stay as we are traveling home from a 5 week cross country trip. We paid $41 plus tax for site 10 which is a "premium" back in. We were hoping to level the trailer without unhitching but the site was not level enough for that. This is a nice place it's clean and appears to be well maintained, our neighbor in site 11 however didn't pick up after his dog when she went behind our site. The staff has mastered no contact checkin for those who have a reservation, I guess that's good when you're in the middle of a pandemic but it isn't very friendly. I think it's kind of pricy but there are not a lot of options in Elko. read more

We stayed one night on our way from Salt Lake to Reno. After a long day of driving, I look forward to a nice swim and soak in the hot tub. Yes, there is a "pool" and sort-of-warmish hot tub. The pool is so small that I mistook it for the hot tub. Max 3.5' deep, 9' long, and maybe 4' at the widest point. Seriously. See the photo. I was flabbergasted at the sign above the pool that stated maximum capacity of 35...... I don't think it's possible to get 35 people into the fenced space. The trains were noisy and frequent. The white-noise app on the cell phone was a saving grace. All said, there simply are not any better options in Elko. Check-in was easy, parking was easy. The park was clean, well-maintained, quiet, just perhaps not what I expect from an RV resort. If travel takes us again through Elko, we'd probably stay. Overall: meh. read more

They offer Wi-Fi but it doesn't work. Don't count on it. But a amplified antenna. They are expensive but run the park like a military establishment. Most of the girls in the office are nice and respectful but there is one that likes to act tuff and boss the tenants around. When the Wi-Fi went out, each employee said a different excuse why. Not worth the monthly fee. If you stay one night, it's ok. Not for long term stay. The park is full of flies and this one employee blames the tenant that he is a fly attractant. read more

We chose site 61 and was able to level while still connected. The place is super clean. Update: the only negative for site 61 is the all night rail yard activity right behind the fence. This is the best laid out RV park we've ever been to. The pull-thrus alternate so that your picnic table is not on top of your neighbor's sewer dump. The back-ins are staggered with plenty of room. Concrete patio with nice grass and big shade trees. Clean bathrooms with nice showers. read more

I never post reviews on here, but I have to given the fact that the lady working here was a miserable bitch. We had booked a spot months in advance to ensure we were next to our group. We did agree to a disclaimer that no spot is guaranteed but we figured we would get a courtesy call or something to try and work something out. Nope. We show up and surprised to have a spot completely on the opposite side of the park away from our group, and we went in asking what we can do about it (partial refund, maybe we can get somewhere a little closer, etc.) nope. She chose to be a complete bitch and said "yOu SiGNeD a DiScLaImEr that's how it is" (among other rude ass comments) when we just wanted her to work with us. Customer service is EVERYTHING in a successful business and we will not return to iron horse, and will deter as many people as possible. PS- their "pool" is 3ft6in and so is the jacuzzi. Wow - I definitely didn't expect to overnight in a place this nice. Most campgrounds off the freeway are adequate for an overnight stay. Not this one. I'd come back for a longer stay and mountain bike/hike Ruby mountain. Yeah, it's that nice! Check-in was a breeze and the sites are large with full hook-ups. Your rig sits on rocks; there's a concrete pad and picnic table at your site; and there's grass and trees at each site. The restrooms and pool house are very clean. There is a train that goes by occasionally, so be aware of that if you're a light sleeper. Surprisingly, the road noise is muffled and not disruptive. Put this campground on your list; and not just for one night. Elko is a nice town with all the amenities. read more

A wonderful RV park with all the amenities you would expect at an "RV resort". The spaces were laid out such that you never had the neighbor utility hookups near (or in sight of) your living spaces. Spots were inverted so the utilities were back to back and living areas were front to front with a large grassy area between units. Very dog-friendly, employees were very nice, and the park was very clean. I didn't use the bathrooms, pool, or sauna. Only 2 negatives for which I took off a star. 1) Spaces were large and flat (nicely engineered) but they were not level at all....way off. Some of the units had many blocks underneath to help with their normal levelers. My right rear was off the ground. This was odd since they took the time to lay the spaces out the way they did. 2) Train tracks VERY close to the park with trains going by throughout the night blowing their whistle loud and long as they pass by. Pick your space accordingly if and when you book otherwise you'll regret the choice. Overall a great park but beware the train and difficult leveling. I would still recommend this place and I will stay here again when I go back. We stayed in spot 36 (center pull-through spaces) for 6 days. read more

For a stopover this is a great spot. We got site 10 and had a large expanse of grass that we enjoyed a great deal. If you're a larger group and get site 9,10,11 you will have the grass completely to yourselves and room to play corn hole, etc... without intruding on your neighbors area. Good breeze with shade so makes the heat bearable. They could've used an actual pool here. Yes, you can take a shuttle to the Hilton but nobody wants to go to a motel in their bathing suit. They were keeping the "spool" on site cooler so that works but obviously if you have kiddos and it's summer you want a real resort style pool, especially camping at a modern facility such as this. It's very nice and extremely big RV friendly. Bathrooms huge and new, dvds to rent for $1, Albertsons grocery store just down the street. WiFi worked very poorly for us. I'd stay again. read more

We appreciate the lighted grass dog run and in walking distance to a great pet/equine/western wear find (IFA Store). Bit pricey, offers hot jacuzzi & amenities. This place was a one night stopover, but it was very clean, convenient, and quiet. Signing in was easy and the girls were very friendly. We loved our pull through spot with grass and concrete patio with picnic table. We had all utilities including sewer and water. The only thing that was disappointing was the size of the pool. It's more like a small sitting pool to cool off. You can use the indoor pool up at the Hilton but since we were only here one night we decided not to go. We had our service dog with us and no problems there. They gave several "dog " areas with poop bags. We would definitely stay here again. read more

Gone Down Hill.. I've been staying at this RV park for 3 years and every year it has declined. This year is hands down the worst. The lawns are Brown, the edges haven't seen a weed eater this year, theirs several water leaks all around my lot. Showers and Bathroom are hit and miss on cleanliness. The Wifi is super slow And the worst part is, I'm still paying full price and haven't been able to use the Hilton Gardens Hotel facilities like the Pool, hot tub, weight room, restaurant Etc. Because the are renaming and spending all their money on remodeling their Hotel. IMHO, this place wouldn't be bad for a night or two in the overnight lots. But I would definitely go somewhere cheaper for an extended stay. read more
