One of my neighbors suggested Mr. Carroll and C&C Enterprises, as he had done some work on their backyard as well. Mr. Carroll was able to meet me onsite within 2 days of my initial call, and was able to supply a quote the same day. After interviewing several other grading companies, my wife and I moved forward with Mr. Carroll. His team was onsite within 2 weeks, showing up around 830am and finishing around 1pm. They worked hard to minimize the impact of their equipment on the rest of our yard, they were very courteous and polite, and picked up after themselves (something I have begun to discover is rare among some contractors). Most importantly the yard looked exactly like Mr. Carroll and I had discussed during the original site visit. They even brought some flex storm water tubing to extend our french drain system through the newly graded area (something I had planned to do myself as I am rather particular on how that is routed, and they did it exactly how I would have done it!). Mr. Carroll then followed up a week after the work was completed to ensure that no issues had popped up after his team had completed their work, and to see if I had any suggestions or complaints (I had neither)! I strongly recommend Mr. Carroll and C&C Enterprises for any grading work you need to have done! His team is professional, on-time, and clean-up after themselves. Mr. Carroll also has his cell phone number on his business card and does reply to text messages.

We hired Southern Solutions Landscaping and Grading to fix a major drainage problem in our front…read moreyard, and also to provide some simple landscape design and installation. We have no landscaping experience and were relying on our contractor to help us out, but we were not happy from the very first day. In our initial meeting, I asked for a specific color of mulch, and the contractor didn't express any concern. However, the owner remarked to my husband the day that it had been installed that it wasn't ideal for our situation, that he "hated it", and that it would float. Had he told me during our meeting, I would have been disappointed, but would have deferred to his experience and used a different material. They removed a tree, but left so many roots poking out of the ground that we couldn't mow the grass without first taking an axe to the area, we weren't given the plants we requested, and weren't given the option to choose alternatives, and they planted the ONE azalea plant that we received right in front of the neighborhood sign in our front yard that we had to move. Thankfully, it was easy to move since they didn't bury the root ball. The contractor did return to our house three times to apply "fixes" to the drainage issue, but none of them worked. We ended up consulting with another contractor and was quoted $2500 to fix the damage Southern Solutions caused to our yard. Southern Solutions offered to come back out for a 4th time, but we have no confidence that they can fix the problems they caused. We requested a refund in the amount that we were quoted in order to fix the problem, but Southern Solutions opted to have their lawyers get involved rather than do the right thing. So, rather than hire a lawyer, we will pay a new contractor to fix the bad mulch that is floating out of our yard, the ditch with a flat bottom that requires water to flow uphill to go under our driveway, and a drain that doesn't work because it clogs up with the said floating mulch.
