That's the worst. Not here! The employees at this store know what they are talking about. They have hiked, skied, snowboarded, backpacked, camped, kayaked , canoed, you name it. Not only have they done it all, they are excited to help you find the right kind of gear to help you do it all. The store is very well stocked with everything you could need to explore your world. They have all the major brands as well as numerous local brands, as well. Plus, they have speakers and events to increase that sense of community. This has now officially become my go to spot for when I need any kind of outdoor gear.

The prices on line didn't match the store's; things "in stock" locally simply were not; the signage at the store was useless, and often wrong; Dunham's doesn't show fiber content for most of its stock, and offers no item numbers for cross-checking, on-line. It's not possible to report issues that involve both store and website on-line, so I reported what I could (into an awful, too-cryptic form), and then called the local store. Could I have an email, so that I could explain my issues more carefully -- so that they might be forwarded to the corporate office? Nope. There is no email available. And since all signage and such is handled by corporate, there's nothing to be done. As others have said, locally, Peoria's not far, has much better offerings, and generally has better service as well as better merchandise.

How have I never reviewed Scheels?…read more I am grateful to have this location. With two kiddos that are active in a lot of sports, Scheels has come to the rescue a time or two. (Specifically, when I realized my son didn't have an adequate batting helmet for baseball mere hours before his first game of the season. I was able to order online and pickup no problem. He is insanely proud of his golden helmet, might I add.) This location expanded during the pandemic and has a ton! Hunting, biking, fishing, skiing,... a robust Iowa Hawkeye apparel section... shoes, apparel-- you name it! Honestly, my favorite spot to shop Scheels is online. I got some amazing Fornia clothes on clearance. My blazer I got is legit one of my favorite things and I spent less than $10-- what a steal! I also got some great Mud Pie Christmas decor super cheap online. It's open daily, parking is a non-issue. Staff is always so friendly and knowledgable. As I mentioned above, don't forget to order online easily for pickup.
