The only downside is the limited office hours (8 AM to 2:30 PM on weekdays), which can be tricky if you work standard hours. I also asked if the information on their weight ticket would be sufficient to satisfy the DMV requirements for vehicle weight. After receiving the "no problem" reply, I made the half hour drive over to their Lindenhurst facility to get the car weighed. I drove onto their scale, paid the requested ten-dollar fee, and received the weight ticket. This print-out contained the indicated weight, with no information linking the weight to either the vehicle or the driver (i.e., VIN number, license, vehicle type, etc.) In addition, the printer used for this was apparently in need of a new ink cartridge, as the weight reading was barely visible. When I presented the Gershow print-out to the DMV, it was immediately rejected. When I related to them the response from Gershow that their document was all that was needed, they replied "Gershow should know better." In the end, although the indicated weight on the form was 18 lb less than what I had presented to DMV as vehicle weight, my claim was rejected, and my trip to this recycling facility was a waste of time.
