I wanted to like this vet. They are the closest to us. I had read the reviews which were mixed, but decided to try them. I called on a Friday afternoon for information on getting my cat bathed. I was told to bring him in anytime before 10 am. The cat was fully vaccinated. I didn't have the records handy, but they could call our old vet and verify. I get there Monday am and am told they really don't do cat baths. I needed to have their records and paperwork filled out. They have to do the baths in the dog area and they can't do a simple shave of a small mat on the cats back as it is " grooming". The girl at the desk wasn't rude, but unhelpful. It was completely different information than I got via phone. Bizarre. Apparently, the staff needs training. I am new to the area and will be looking for a different vet. We have four animals that they just lost as patients. Time and a 20 mile round trip in gas wasted. Dissatisfied. read more

I came here with my 1-year-old German Shepherd mix. He wasn't eating or drinking water, he was extremely lethargic, and was constantly vomiting to the point of nothing but bile and a mucus-type substance (not sure what it's called). About a minute away from the location he had started to squirt blood out of his rear. Once inside the staff told me I had to wait until 1:00 PM (it was around 12:00 PM) when the vet returned from their lunch. They made no effort to try and call the vet, nor make sure my dog was comfortable. While waiting he had squirted more blood, resulting in a total of 5 times (quite a lot of blood). The only response I received from the woman at the front desk was, "Keep him in once place. Every time he moves and does that somewhere else we have to sanitize a new spot." There was no one else in at the time I was there, and she held no regard for my dog. read more

I've never had a problem with Isbell Animal Clinic and I have used them since I was about 15 years old with my first dog! (That was around 1960!) They are very thorough with my pets and I figure that is why the place is always packed ! They are also very reasonable with their charges! Today, I bring my pets with me from Nashville when I visit Gadsden, and let the fine folks at Doc Isbell's give 'em a good once over! read more

Okay, I don't get the bad reviews. I've met the vet here and the staff as well and they have been nothing but nice and treated my fur babies very well. The price beats everyone else in this area. I'm big on checking reviews before I do anything. So the reviews made me hesitate to use them, but my income made me have to use them. Well I'm so glad I did! I've been very pleased and trust them with my three pets. Trust me my fur babies get better care than I do. I need a crown and my dogs getting her dental work first. lol read more

Have used Isbell for many years and have had a few of the people up front be rude, but I have shrugged it off because I didn't have a lot of money to go anywhere else and they were the most affordable. Today I called to get information about my sick dog and was treated so rudely! I just wanted information about things I could do and they hung up on me! I can now afford a better clinic and I'm done with this one! read more

my still sick dog was released to me after being admitted for 3 days without the "doc" talking to me in person or by phone. I took her to another vet the next day, returned to isbells to get all 4 of my dogs records, then after some typing (yes my wife recorded it all) she gives me the patient chart printout, which is not even the same as what I was given Friday. As I start reading this patient chart page there are notes **OWNER WANTS TO TAKE HOME DUE TO $$$$ and another saying dr. Garrett spoke to me about my dogs special needs. #1 "Dr. Garrett" and I have not spoken since 9/7 when she was admitted. Not even to go over our dogs bloodwork results. #2 why would I rush my dog to a 2nd vet not even 18 hours after picking her up if "$$$$" was the issue. so they falsified records. not to mention they misdiagnosised, isolated and starved my dog with only iv fluids for 48 hours. for "distemper" SHE HAD A INNER EAR INFECTION! AND POTENTIAL SPINE INJURY. They had to give her a "bath" before bringing her out to me, and still had paws and backside stained from poop. She had 3 or 4 places that were scabs but when I picked her up they were leaking puss and blood. I had to call and ask what it was and what to do for it because again only the rude receptionist had spoken to me. she is terrifies of her kennel now, upon returning to the clinic for my babies records (all4) the receptionist is so rude when I ask for my dogs collar that they lost?!? of course the "doctor" hasn't called me back, so I'll continue to make sure everyone knows exactly how this vet truly is. my dog suffered in their care and I can't get a answer out of anything as to why? read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. I took my puppy in on a Saturday morning because she had thrown up Friday night. They told me that she needed to be kept over the weekend to get fluids, and I reluctantly let her stay. The vet took my puppy home with her. I tried to get in touch with the vet over the weekend and couldn't. She had my number and I never got an update. I was the first one at the door Monday morning to pick her up. First off they could not find her because the vet had taken her home with her. Then the very rude ladies at the front desk told me she had not eaten since SATURDAY and that they wanted to keep her. I asked to speak to the vet and they got very rude with me and told me that she was busy. And they did not want to let me see her. So I told them I was taking her home "against medical advise". They brought my poor puppy out and she was absolutely TERRIFIED. Charged me $150 for absolutely nothing. They did not even give her an IV to get fluids in her. Once I got her home she ate like never before, she was STARVING. She has been so scared and sad all day long which makes me very angry to think how they treated her to make her this way. You get what you pay for and in this case you get less. I will absolutely never, ever take a single animal of mine back to them. read more

I took my bloodhound in to be neutered and when he came home he had a very different attitude not from the surgery but almost from the treatment her received. I had to take him back because his scrotum was swollen and feverish and they did emergency surgery and acted as though they did me a favor by not charging for someone else's mistake. read more

This place is terrible!! The office staff was very rude and unprofessional. The waiting area and waiting room was filthy! The vet tech who trimmed my dogs nails was very unfriendly and hurt my dog! The vet tech cut my dogs nails way to close which caused them to bleed. I complained about this, but was given no apology. I will never take my dog back here! read more

We have used Isbell Animal Clinic for many, many years. Dr. Isbell was wonderful. The new vet, not so much. I took my high-strung cat in for a respiratory problem, and was assigned to Dr. Warren. Yes, my cat is horrible at the vet, but shouldn't vets know how to handle animals? When my cat scratched Dr. Warren, he used the "GD" word and was very dramatic about getting scratched. I thought he was very unprofessional and rude. I will find someone else to get my business in the future. read more

After a botched surgery this clinic sent a dehydrated and dying cat home. When confronted about the cat no longer being in good health, the response was to give him "tlc." After calling the vet after hours voicing concerns, the vet stated that we were too high maintenance for his clinic and hung up. After the cat died, a review was left on their facebook page which has since been removed along with others similar to or with the same story. Please do not send your pets here if you value their well being. Not every pet that enters their doors is treated with the same care and its not worth the risk. read more
