The rooms are gigantic, even by US standards with plenty of storage space and even a real rubbish bin (not those ridiculous stainless steal miniature bins with the foot-opening-pedal-thingy). The only downer is the shower design. The shower head is a handheld shower and does not stay tilted downward which makes showering impossible. In other words, it's not really a shower and you have to set the handheld sprayer on the bath floor in-between shampooing and the rest. Breakfast is served on the main floor, just outside reception in an open and airy room. The hotel was fully booked during our stay and we went to breakfast at peak times and it was never packed which was nice. The selection was great and included items such as scrambled eggs (not made with cream which was great!), bacon (crispy bacon, not the crap they call bacon in the UK), bread, yogurts, meats, and cheeses. One note to make is that reception (who are wonderful, by the way), can load your keycard with your ski pass but they cannot load half-day passes. Galzigbahn station is just a few steps away from the backdoor of the hotel which makes carting your equipment back and forth a breeze. Another thing to note is that there is a stationary bike, treadmill, and sun bed in the basement of the hotel along with a massage room, steam room, and sauna. And yet another note to make is that they do sell a small selection of wines, beers, juices, and fizzy drinks throughout the day in their lounge. Check the menu on the coffee table for prices and order from reception. A big thank you to Emily at reception who kindly asked us if we had dinner reservations for Christmas Eve and then provided a list of restaurants who still had openings. Christmas Eve in Austria is highly celebrated and we are so thankful that Emily reminded us that we should make dinner reservations.

The rooms are small, it is a gasthaus not a mega-resort, but they were in good condition and kept nicely clean. The mattress was perfectly comfortable, and the rooms both had small TVs, as well as a small desk and chair. Breakfast was a typical european affair, with coffee, juice, tea, cold cuts, yogurt, etc. They also picked up a selection of breads and/or pastries each morning from the local bakery, which were all quite nice. Wifi worked just fine for me the whole time, but I never tested it with FaceTime or Netflix. For skiers: the boot room was substantial and right outside the front door for easy access. It seemed to have been recently updated, and the boot dryers worked like a charm. The free ski bus up to St Anton stops about a hundred feet down the road, and it seemed to be about the second stop on the route, because we never had trouble getting a seat. The ride up to St Anton was an easy 10-15 minutes, but when you come back at the end of the day, make sure you get on the #7 bus, not the #9. They both say 'Pettneu', but the #9 won't get you anywhere near Gastehaus Hartls! Definitely a great value for what you pay, and I'd happily stay again next time I'm skiing St Anton.

The Eggler family and all of their wonderful staff could not have treated us any better. Being in this lovely hotel by ourselves permitted us to better appreciate the romanticism of the hotel's alpine setting, the position of the hotel in relation to ski lift access, and having the local, St. Anton/Langen am Arlberg, and Arlberg Express bus stop right outside of the hotel was so convenient. The meals were fabulous, and the restaurant staff were pleasant and very accommodating to any of our wishes. The wellness center was a great relaxation facility to avail ourselves of after a day of skiing and/or hiking on the snowy trails. We so appreciate the Eggler family and staff of the Arlberghaus, and will certainly return.

This is a quiet gem in the Lower Engadine in Switzerland and offers the perfect balance of Swiss hospitality, convenience, location and surrounded by sheer beauty. As a three star hotel it offers comfortable, clean rooms furnished nicely and a superb dining room. Their chef shines at dinner with outstanding five course meals. The wine list is hand chosen by the hotel's owner and all are superb and are geared to enjoy with meals at reasonable prices. The hotel is very convenient to transportation and the ski lift which is 1 minute away. The south facing rooms have lovely balconies which face the mountains providing spectacular views.
