On my third visit to Zhao something went wrong and when I left the lower part of my face was quite numb. This got worse. Zhao said she couldn't understand what had happened, and that nothing like this had happened before. The numbness moved to the left side of my face and left side of my mouth. It continues now, two months after the session that caused it. I have seen a neurologist, who said it might go away, or it might not. To anyone considering acupuncture, my advice would be to think hard about it--it can damage you. To anyone considering seeing Xingning Zhao, I would say, Don't.

Last year, my husband was hospitalized for severe mental confusion. Hospital neurologist was…read morecertain this was a symptom of tick-borne illness and placed him on antibiotics. He showed some improvement, but others on his care team disagreed about the cause of his symptoms, and he was discharged without further antibiotic care. Two weeks later, he had to be re-hospitalized because the confusion came back. When I asked for them to resume the antibiotic care, I was met with huge resistance, but our neurologist put us in touch with the Stram Center and told us to follow up there. From that point on, everything changed. I first spoke with Nadine, who listened carefully, expedited my appointment with Dr. Stram and guided me through the intake process. For the first time in a month, I felt heard, cared for and hopeful. We saw Dr. Stram in May 2025 and what can I say? He spent hours talking to us about my husband's health background and symptoms, and, after careful evaluation and testing, identified that my husband had contracted multiple tickborne infections. He developed a thoughtful, holistic care plan that was tailored to my husband's individual needs and included input and supervision from multiple, interdisciplinary clinicians. We travelled to Albany for 6 weeks of 5-day/week treatment. It wasn't easy and it was expensive (health insurance covered very little). But was it worth it? Absolutely! Dr. Stram, Nadine and the entire Stram Team (from the front desk to the nurses and technicians) were always approachable and present, answering our (many) questions with patience, respect, transparency and professionalism. My husband has recovered his mental functioning and his overall health has greatly improved. My gratitude for the Stram Center team is boundless and I'd recommend them without reservation to anyone who is seeking help with complex medical questions and has struggled with the mainstream medical system. Dr Paige was able to see me within 15 minutes of my call. I found him to be caring, knowledgeable and readily willing to assist. He spent a good 30-40 minutes with me on the evaluation, chropratic adjustment and discussing some follow up stretches/ exercises. He knew I was on vacation and wasn't necessarily going to be back anytime soon yet he treated me like a regular. His pricing was also very reasonable!
