Was hoping to find a great local bike shop to work with. As a test, I Ordered a freewheel hub for my bike. Msrp for said freewheel hub is around 60-70 bucks if I ordered online. I understand bike shop politics so I was fine paying $90+. In the end, i was charged 120 with installation fees! With the money I gave them, I could've I bought my tools, chain whip grease, watcher a few YouTube videos And completes this on my own! read more

Wow, bad bad bad. I brought one flat bike tire in to be replaced. I Told the guy (TJ), that even though it was a white wall, any tire would do, the cheaper the better. He told me it would be $40 and would be ready in the morning. I drove over the next afternoon, the tire was not ready and the guy, (TJ) was an ass about it. Rude, and dismissive. Told us he couldn't get to it. That it would be done by 6pm. Came back the next day, around 1pm, (wanted to play it safe), and was greeted by a sign on the door informing me "Back in 10 minutes". I waited thirty minutes and left. (Prior experience leads me to believe it was TJ). The next day i arrived early, a different worker helped me. Nice guy. Couldn't find my repaired tire. But he did find my flat tire. Not yet fixed. What the F***? He was apologetic, and gave me my tire back. I yelped for help and was directed to Western Bike Shop, less than a mile away on 41. This is a real bike shop (not a purely rental shop like island bikes) loaded with high quality bikes. My tire was done in three hours for $34. Bypass this place. read more

Great local shop in a convenient location. Good stock of accessories, tires and parts. We needed a new rear tire and tube on my wife's bike. In and out in a few minutes with better than original tire. Very happy to find this great shop close by with a friendly, efficient owner/operator. read more

I brought my aluminum rim tire in for a spoke repair. The price of the spoke was quoted as $2.00 and the labor $5.00 and change. Waited all day for it to be ready got the call at 4:30 so I drove down to pick it up. Asked for the total and was told it was 24.86. I asked why??? Well when you break a spoke it ruins the rim. Blah, blah, blah. I broke the spoke removing the bike from a vehicle. I did not ride with a broken spoke and it spun perfectly before I brought it in. In my opinion a big rip off. Will never go back!!! read more

Had the worst service ever today. They've worked on my same bike for flat tires twice and had no problem. Today I went in and asked the guy to fix my flats and he said there's no possible way then after just left me there and walked to the back. Seemed like just laziness considering they've had no problem doing it before. Disappointed considering I've even sent people into the shop telling them how good it was. read more

Not a fan. The mechanic didn't want to touch my two vintage bikes.... not even to change a tube! That would have been fine if he was at least friendly about it, but he was belittling on my preference of bike. He seemed a bike snob and I will not be back. read more

I bought two bikes from TJ here this year. One for my wife, which she loves, and a trike for myself. After falling off my two wheeler and getting a femoral neck fracture, I opted for a Sun Atlas three wheel bike. I love this thing as I whiz around my park. Bringing platters, cooler, fishing gear or other things in the huge wire basket around the park is so nice. I fish a lot in our lake on the south side and can carry the fishing pole in its holder. I get lots of comments on it. TJ is in the Foxboro/Publics plaza on 41 is very helpful and knows the bike business well. read more

I've been a few times. Only once was a mistake made and they corrected it and even did a bit extra for the troubles, the moment I got there! Best bike shop in town IMHO. Accessories are at a much better price than the competition too! (Don't bother with walmart or targets crap, get the real deal here, it's worth the bit of extra money! This is a broke college kid saying this!!) Anytime I don't have the tools or knowledge to complete a repair myself, I will be taking my bike (my only mode of transportation right now) to the Island Bike Shop! To me, the quality of the service and the customer service is key. I've been to other shops in town, and none provided the level of customer service that the Island Bike shop did! (I wrote another review for the worst shop I've been to in town, complete 180, but i'll keep this about Island!) read more

My husband and I are renting a Home in Naples. The owner purchased two bikes for us which were assembled by our realtor's husband. He did a great job, as it looked very complicated. However, our portable pump could not inflate the tires properly, and the chain was loose and skipping. We strapped the bikes on our car roof and took them to Island Bike shop. The friendly young man behind the counter asked us to leave our bikes there, as one would need a tune up and the other bike needed a look over. Service was prompt, as we got the call that they were ready within a few hours. When we returned, we were shocked when he told us there was no charge!!! For either bike!!! That would never happen where we come from. We expected to pay for a few hours service charge. I would def visit this shop again for service or rental. Hands down, the best deal in Naples !!!! On a side note, Loved the cute dog behind the counter. read more

Think twice before having your bike repaired or serviced at Island Bike Shop. Large sign above the counter lists the prices for service, but don't believe it. The sign noted "Tube and tire $7.00", but charged $10.00 per tire. When I pointed out the price to the person on duty he stretched out his neck and glance over the counter to confirm my allegation, shrugged his shoulders and said the price is $10. However, after paying the bill he simply sat down, opened a book and began reading it until I asked for my bike. I never received a thank you or a receipt and when I got the bike home I noticed the chain was detached from the derailleur, the seat was raised 10" above normal height and the brake cable was detached on one side of the tire. Come on... is this suppose to be a bike shop? I don't expect this place will remain in business much longer considering their shoddy repairs and even shoddier customer service. read more

We bought a Townie bike from them 1 year ago and needed a tube. The bike was working fine when we dropped it off but the gears were all messed up when we got it home. When we took it back the repair guy was rude, didn't care that we are in our 70's and it is not easy for us to put the bike in our car and return to the shop. We thought they should have checked it out after putting in the tube. How difficult would it be to turn the pedals and see if the gears are ok? He did an adjustment (2 minutes). My husband did ride it in the parking lot and it seemed to be ok but on a longer ride 2nd gear is again slipping (it was perfect before we took it in for the tube). We must now take it in for the third time. Obviously not back to Island Bike. Two weeks ago we took an extra bike we have for our grandchildren in for a tire. Promised it would be done the next day, no phone call to advise it wouldn't be ready so we drove there and it wasn't ready. No apology. They don't seem to care about their customers. I am not looking for extraordinary service just common courtesy and respect. We will not go back. read more

Stay away from this bike shop, try one of the other local bike shops instead. On 8Apr14, I called looking for bottom bracket bearings for my CH-46. It uses ¼" 11-ball retainer ring. The bike tech assured me they had them but told me to bring my old ones along. I had checked at another shop and they told me they only had 9-ball but in multiple sizes, a different shop told me they had the 11-ball. Island bike was on my way to my friends garage where I would service my bike. When I got to Island Bike and ask the Bike Tech for a pair of ¼" 11-ball retainer rings, he asks me for the old ones, but they are in the bike. Turns out he doesn't have any 11-ball rings, he wanted to sell me 9-ball rings that would have the same diameter. They might work in an emergency but they're not the same. Based on his response wouldn't trust them to do any service work, they'll likely use any part that might fit and most people wouldn't know. I recommend staying away for them. read more
