I put one because that was my lowest option. I called 2 weeks ago to get an estimate on putting up a small section of fence and build 2 gates. They said someone would call to set up an appointment. I still haven't heard from them. Very surprised at the very poor customer service from a company this established in the area. Makes me wonder if they can't use a phone what kind of fence would they have built. I would be very wary. Definitely would not recommend. apparently my business wasn't important enough to even make a phone. read more

Love this place. Nothing pretty to look at, but the name says it all. From every type shape size color and configuration you can think of, Island Fence is a great place to get all of your decorative to security fencing you can think of. I have used them now several times, they have been professional, on time and always at a reasonable budget price. I live out in Sweet Home and they even trek all the way out there. Oh, and if you go into the office, don't be a big dope like me and look out for the cat inside, very friendly but if your not careful may inadvertantly launch him/her across the office....ooops! read more

Island Fence installed my gate many years ago. It has broken frequently, and they are so slow to respond that I usually manage to find someone else to fix it. Recently I've had a hard time finding anyone else. Island Fence has been telling me since September this year that they'll come and fix it. That's a long long time. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Ordered replacement slats for our fence thinking they only came in one color. They came in a different color and John was a complete asshole. He got super defensive and blamed me, the guy that doesn't work for a fence company, for the mistake. Why would I order white slats when our fence is grey???? I look at my fence EVERY day. He never asked for a color when I ordered them. When he refused be helpful in any way, shape, or form I told him we would never be doing business with them again and his response was "that's fine!". Do not do business with these folks. read more

We waited three months only to be very disappointed with this company. Was told they would call within a day or two with a quote. One week went by and we didn't received a call. So I phoned and spoke with a hispanic man who said the person who came out to look at our fence was out of the office till the following week. Was assured he'd get the message and return my call. Two weeks later, still no call. So I got in touch with them again, this time spoke with a women who seemed to understand my frustration and told me she would make sure he received the message and that I would be receiving a call soon. One month later nothing, and pretty upset to say the least! By now we had decided that we weren't going to use them and would look elsewhere. But I still needed to call one more time just to let them know how disappointed we were with this company. Interestingly enough when I called for the last time and told them how dissatisfied I was I was told by the person who answered the phone (who I believe was the actual young man who came out to look at the job) that they were just looking over are quote and getting ready to email it to us. HA! I call BS! Well, he did send me an email that day as promised (third time around) and we never responded back. This company has poor customer service and work ethics and I would never recommend them to anyone! P.S. We did find a fence company, "Lost Creek Fence" 541-729-3257, who does outstanding work and I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a quality job! Wanted to contract a "local" business to put up a fence and roll-gate recently. Called Corvallis Fence and Island Fence. Corvallis Fence didn't ever return my call, so we went with Island. Estimator came out promptly and gave us a quick estimate. Once we decided to pull the trigger, we paid our 50% deposit and they said they'd "get us on the schedule" as soon as they could. Weeks passed. Phone calls and e-mails took days to get a reply. When we did talk to them, they said that they were busy and that small residential jobs were getting pushed off because of large commercial jobs. After over two weeks of waiting with no idea as to when we might get our fence installed, they called one morning out of the blue and asked if they could send a crew over to install posts. Install guys were great -- I asked the head installer when I should expect a follow-up crew to hang the fence rails and boards and put up the roll-gate. He said the following Monday or Tuesday (it was a Friday). Monday came, no word on a follow-up crew. I contacted Island and they said that they "had to build the gate first", and they didn't know when they could get that done and send out a follow-up crew. I was disappointed -- and I let them know it. Not until Friday did they send out a crew to finish the job. In the end, the fence quality is fine, the laborers they send out to do the work are pleasant and helpful, but the coordination between the "head office" and the customer leave much to be desired -- especially if you're a simple residential customer. read more

I needed a fence put up quickly and Island Fence was able to accommodate. John was able to get me into their schedule without much delay. The result was a well-built fence, sturdy, great looking fence. They took extra care with one of the gates as it was an extra wide and needed more support. It was a perfect install. They completed the project in the time they quoted me, so now the dogs have their backyards again. read more

Very bad service!!! They promised to have my gate finished in 2 weeks and it's been a month and my gate is not ready. The salesperson (Raphael) shows no responsibility and doesn't even answer my calls/messages. I'll have to buy the gate somewhere else! I'm really upset! read more

Contacted Island fence wanting an estimate in June. Haven't heard from them since. They should let you know if they don't want the job. We just got our fences in by another company, and they did a great job. We don't recommend Island fence. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! My husband and I have a railing that was damaged by a fir limb and needs replacement. We called 2 weeks ago to get an estimate for our insurance company and were told that someone would be by in the next few days to give us a price. Since 2 weeks had already passed, my husband called today to see when we could expect someone to come. The person on the phone explained that they were 6 weeks out and would send someone out when they have time, but would not give him any dates of when this may or may not happen. Hoping to expedite the process, we drove to their location today with photos of the railing and measurements. The woman at the front desk told us that they were scheduled 6 weeks out and didn't know when someone would be available to come by. There was another employee sitting at a desk and said he could speak with us. We showed him the photos and he said that he could give us an estimate, but it would cost $50.00. This seems like extortion! Was he planning to pocket the money? We don't know, but we definitely will not be using this company, as it is clear that customer service is not their strong point. read more

We were surprised when company used staples to attach the slats to the frame of our fence. Did not know you could use staples. We did not even discover this until over a year had passed and I noticed one of the slats was loose. This was not a recent job. Just still disappointed especially when I found my cat trying to pry one of the 6 foot boards away from the fence and succeeding! Will always use nails or screws in future. read more

Just thought I should let you all know about my repeated experiences with this company. I have had several occasions to have either repair or an entire area fenced. I have shopped around and always come back to them. I can depend on them to do exactly to the inch what I request. Their fence lines are straight as are the posts. Never any wiggle and they are still functioning as designed years later. I don't have to stay and watch over them at all. The employees are friendly and respectful. They are a busy company so I try to plan on a brief wait to start a project. John can usually get me going within a couple to 3 weeks. read more

Island Fence is pulled a bait and switch con on me when i went to buy some fencing .... after quoting me a sale price on the lumber, a price that is on a flyer they handed me, they charged my contractor a much higher price when he went to get the materials. They very nicely told me over the phone that it was their error and they would make good by refunding the money to me, they stonewalled me for over two months, apparently hoping I'd go away. After repeated phone calls, and repeated admissions by their front office that I was due the refund, they eventually kissed me off with a letter saying I didn't qualify for the sale price because I 'was not part of the original transaction'. We worked with John in designing a custom made black powder coated arched arbor and arched swinging gate which incorporated an anchor. From the beginning John worked us through the project and connected us to Elias the welder/TRUE craftsman who asked for our input throughout the project. Even though we wanted it NOW we knew it would take time. Elias and Peter installed the arbor/gate with meticulous attention to detail. The outcome was OUTSTANDING!!! We heard about this company from a neighbor, and we had a very good experience. They installed a wood privacy fence with two gates, it looks great, is very straight and sturdy, and we've gotten many compliments. They were very reliable, gave us an idea in advance of when they could come out to do the estimate and the work and then followed up a day or two before to confirm. They arranged for the utility companies to come out and mark the site in advance to avoid digging into anything. The manager, John, was very helpful listening to what we were trying to accomplish and providing advice and ideas when he came to look at our site. I was a little worried the gate would be heavy to move, but they used a high quality metal frame and spring and it's perfect. We paid in the mid-to-high end, but I felt it was worth it to have someone reliable. My neighbor was home when the fence was going in and she noticed they were good workers - didn't take a lot of breaks, good attitude, etc. Very happy and will check with them again for our next fence project. They are busy so be prepared to wait if you contact them in the spring/summer -- we found this was the case with other reputable fence companies as well. read more
