Was out driving around today looking for someone for the kids to play & randomly saw this park…read more.. Decided to pull in & give it a try... Its probably the best park I have seen/been to this summer... They had so many different little stations. They even have this Music area where there are drum like pedestals that when you bang on make music & big chime like things you can bang hammers off to make noise... it was super cool! There are several slides, plank like walking pedestals & monkey bars.. There is a sprinkler section... There are tons of Picnic tables under a covered roof to hide in the shade, you even have to walk over a bridge to get there... Kinda cool! Only downside, no close bathroom & its woodchips which I admit is great for when kids fall, but horrible for women in flip flops! Will defintely be coming back.

This little pond borders a cemetery, and has a paved walking path divides it, and connects South street to Essex street. On any given afternoon people are there fishing, walking their dogs, and hanging out. It's a quiet spot that's really pretty, and since it's so close to the park in town center, it's easy enough to build a walking route through it that'll help you get some exercise in the great outdoors!

Union Point is actually also called "South Field" because that was it's name since it was a Naval…read moreAirbase. It isn't named that now, but everyone still calls it that, even tho' it's been renamed. The reason it was renamed Union Point was due to different towns having partial parts of them inside it, but it's generally South Weymouth. For years, you could still walk around, and take your pets here. There were some incredibly awesome high end playgrounds of the highest quality, but they are all fenced off now. Now, there are a lot of new roads, bike trails, foot hiking trails, and the canal that snakes throughout neighborhoods like Greentree, Gaslight Village, and other areas also runs through South Field which then flows into Weymouth Great Pond reservoir which is where all of the running water comes from. This canal also has a wide open section that resembles a small reservoir lake where wild life likes to haunt. There are a lot of types of wildlife lurking everywhere: wild turkey flocks, orals, gold finches, Eastern Coyotes, foxes, wild geese, sparrows, hawks, kestrels, blue jays, cardinals, robins, ducks, herons, cranes, seagulls, feral cats, lots of rabbits, skunks, and moles. Probably lots more, but those are the most common ones I've seen. The best times of year to shoot photography are on sunny days in the spring (which are rare) because the sakura cherry blossoms are in bloom. But hurry, because the rain comes out of nowhere and knocks the petals down quickly. Summer is pretty good as well, but you will get a different look earlier in the summer than middle and end. The fall is also a fantastic time to shoot photos. It's usually pretty warm in the fall as well. Some people tell me they like sledding here in the winter. But, I never do that. I don't like the cold. Unfortunately, there used to be shaded picnic tables by Shea Field Memorial Grove, but some cold heartless demon chained them upside down after Hurricane Sandy, and then finally got rid of them. So, no picnics for you guys! Hmph! But, there's a dog park with portable restrooms now, and you can also go to the Aircraft Hanger now called "The Hang Out" and get drunk if you have cash. There's events here every weekend. You can also ride your bike, and the set from "Ghost Busters" is around here as well.

Lots of memorials to our service men and women. There is an off leash dog park next door. Actually 2 separate fences in areas. So I could put my littles in a separate area from The huge dogs occupying the neighboring area.

Possibly good for handicapped persons also…read more There's a wooded picnic area off to the side, however the picnic tables were turned over n chained up probably to survive Huricane Sandy in 2012 but were never unchained n set right again. A number of the trees are dead and have not been cut down nor replaced in years. It's a good place to relax, meditate, lay out a yoga mat in either sun or shade, and you can often see wild turkeys, wild Canadian geese, Hawks, rabbits, red foxes, and eastern coyotes. The park has several memorials, and you can also participate in adding adding or funding them also. Good spot for photography, drawing, sketching, painting landscape paintings, or flying kites as long as you stay away from the trees. Beware: I'm not sure, but you might also be able to rent it for private events. If you happen to be relaxing in the park on a Friday evening, during a concert or Food Truck Rodeo down the street, the traffic can back up and many unruly, rude teenagers and kids will shout, scream, and yell obscene harassing profanities at you from their cars just because you happen to be there.

There are climbing apparatus's for different ages and tons of swings. They also have a pirate ship, a car and a few other things for the kids to ride. We have gone here during covid but starts to get crowded around 9am. Most people who go here have been pretty good about wearing their masks who can I appreciate. The town does maintain it, as I often see someone emptying the trash.

But, there's a trail, and little carved sculptures, and furniture for giants. It gets REALLY HOT here in the summer, even on mild days, but in winter even on a mild day the wind stings you really bad. A REALLY great spot for photography, video art filming, and if you do cosplay this is a GREAT spot. Great for kids and pets also.
