It can be busy on weekends though and hence less serene. If you have a dog, bring him! It's a dog friendly place but Fido must be leashed. There are other local dog parks if you want your dog to run free with his friends. This isn't that place. The view along the water is lovely and I've heard that you can go in the water as well as fish. There are about 6 miles or so of terrain to cover. Not a lot but just enough to work up a sweat and burn off some of the pandemic poundage we've gained. This park has been one in a rotation of outdoor spaces where my husband and I are spending free time as a way to get some fresh air and exercise. No permits, no fees! Just show up! Keep yourself moving. Eat less, walk more.

If you want to allow your dog off leash, Hingham will provide you with a permit. Its free to apply and they just need proof of vaccines and a homeowners' policy. It's a very quick process. I applied for mine and it was approved within 1 day. I just haven't picked it up yet. I don't plan on walking here off leash too much, but will let my dog off leash if its a quiet morning. Be careful when putting the address into your navigation, especially Waze users, as it took us to the totally wrong location at first. Once you arrive, however, parking is pretty straightforward. It costs $10/car. The staff at the hut where you pay for parking was super helpful in letting us know what route would best suit our time constraints. We were even given a map! The trails were pretty clear, some maybe weren't as clearly defined as they could've been. Note for hikers: this does feel like more a stroll in the park as opposed to a true hike. Some hidden paths did feel like one, however, so don't be afraid to venture off what seems to be the most defined routes. We loved the views of the Boston skyline, harbour, and Hull, MA. This place is definitely worth a visit. I'm looking forward to coming back in autumn to see some good foliage!

Since our only times here have been on probably the busiest day of the year, please take that into consideration with my review. The not so great: Parking is a bit tight, but not impossible if you got a bit of patience. There are no public restrooms, this year (2024) there didn't seem to be any bins for dog poop or trash, there is only one water station at the front. The good: With the exception of one family not checking their dog's resource guarding, every other dog we saw was so well behaved with responsible owners. Between the beach, the walking path, and the hill, there's so much opportunity to run out your pup! While we were a bit bummed that high tide took away the ability to walk the entirety of the peninsula on the beach, the water was clearer than it is during low tide, so we'd definitely recommend a high tide visit. After a little over an hour there, our German Shepherds were completely wiped out and even after the 40-minute ride home where they napped, they were still conked until dinner time.

Today my boyfriend and I decided to go for a walk and since the last time we passed by there were several Pokéstops and lures going on we thought we could make this a nice fun Friday evening adventure as we have been talking about coming here for some time now but just never made it. The turn into the bigger lot is pretty sharp on the right as you're headed north on Bridge St. There are also a few spots right up front but it's usually occupied, and so was today. We went all the way in and had to come back out because there was no place to park, except a couple of handicap spots. There is also a Yacht club on the far right of the park. The park isn't very big but it's very nicely done. The drought however, along with people walking on the grass, has really damaged the greens turning them tan and dried out. We parked in the side and sat and watched the sunset as I played PokémonGo until a spot opened up. We grabbed it and headed to the park for the walk and the play. It was really beautiful seeing so many people out. We walked alongside the bank of the water and it was low tide so saw the bottoms of the land. The houses across the way was nice too. There were a couple of trails you can walk over to just off the "Kibby's Property" sign but since ITT was getting dark we decided not to go in. And at nighfall, a truck came about starting rounding up the people and lead them out of the park because although it's open year round, it closes at dusk and it was beyond dusk at that point. Best park about this small park is that it had at least about 13 Pokéstops and the lures were going on all of them. Had a great time here and will definitely come back again soon!

This is a huge wooded space hundreds of acres large. Whitney and Thayer is a great place to come to walk, bike, horseback ride and you're welcome to bring your dog if you have one. Leash please. The property here spans both towns of Hingham and Cohasset and unlike some other Trustees properties, is free to all who enter. As an added bonus, you can readily access Turkey Hill from here and gain sight of the South Shore and Cohasset harbor. There are trail markers but it's wise to download a map and bring it with you. Bring water to drink for you and any animal companions you might have with you. As well, make sure you've got your bug spray applied. Ticks abound everywhere in these parts so you want to make sure you're as protected as can be. Having done all those things like a good boy or girl Scout, you'll be certain to enjoy a spectacular day in the outdoors admiring all manner of trees, bushes, flowers, birds and if you're lucky an occasional animal sighting. This is a beautiful tract of land in which to get some exercise and revel in the solitude and grandeur. Well worth a visit any time of year. Get your exercise on, and get out there!

After a short while on the trails you can see why the Wampanoag Indians called the area Cohasset or the "Long Rocky Place", at 600 acres it is three times the size of nearby World's End and unlike W.E. it's FREE! The trails are well maintained cart and footpaths suitable for walking, jogging, horseback, mountain biking, etc. Spliting the woods right down the middle was an old railroad track used by the USN to move munitions to the old ammo depot (now Wompatuck State Park) during WWII & the Cold War, it was recently converted to a bike path (crushed stone) for all to use. It's now possible to take the Greebush Commuter Rail Line down to the Cohasset Station and go directly across Rt 3A and jump on you bike for hours of bike riding in Whitney & (mainly) Wompatuck's 20 + miles of paved & dirt bike trails. After a day of fun cap it off with a ice cream cone at JJ's Dairy located about 500' south of Cohasset Station. Quiet. 600 acres. Ten miles of rustic trails. Dog friendly. Owned & operated by the Trustees of Reservations - consider a donation and becoming a trustee.

Hingham bathing beach is nestled in the heart of Hingham Center on the crows point side of the…read moreharbor. It is truly a breathtaking spot. During the summer there are lifeguards on duty from about 12 to 4 PM. The beach is very clean and well-kept. It's never too busy and there's always plenty of parking. Most people don't know about this place. It's actually open to the public. You do not need to be a Hingham resident to visit here. Not only that but it's actually free. Not only is the beach pristine and beautiful, the water idyllic blue and fresh and clean, but there is a green right next to the beach and it is vast and beautiful with lots of trees and picnic tables. There's lots of places to sit. There's also a snack bar with amazing food. It has lobster rolls and salads and amazing fries. This place is totally a gem. On the other side of the beach there is a beautiful knoll with lots of trees. I recommend this place for kids, for picnic Sundays, for families, anybody can come here. It is open and free to all. A wonderful place to be. Dogs are welcome here on the beach from Labor Day to memorial day. And then from Memorial Day to Labor Day they need to be on leash next to you and they're really not supposed to be on the beach when there are a lot of people around.

This was our first visit to Nantasket Beach in Hull, MA. Before our trip, we couldn't find an…read moreoption to prepay for parking, so we arrived just before noon on a Saturday, which, as we quickly learned, is already considered late for finding both public and private parking. We first drove around the public lots and watched a few lucky visitors grab spots as early arrivals were leaving. The public lot signs listed a $15 resident daily pass and a $40 non-resident daily pass through the Yodel app. The private lots charged $40 with both credit card and cash accepted. We were fortunate to get into an otherwise full private lot, and the teenagers working there were incredibly friendly and helpful. They kept things organized and had a great attitude, which made a stressful parking situation much easier. One advantage of the public lots is their proximity to the public restrooms and showers. If you park in one of the private lots farther down the beach, be prepared for a fairly long walk to the bathrooms, which may not be ideal for families with young children. The beach itself reminded us of Revere beach. Even at the end of July, the water was freezing, and it was quite windy on the day we visited. There are plenty of restaurants and takeout spots across the street, although we brought our own charcuterie board and didn't try any of them. The beach is great for long walks and beautiful sunset or sunrise photo shoots. Unfortunately, it's not ideal for swimming because the water stays too cold and shallow for a long distance from the shore. Overall, we enjoyed the beach, the people, and the atmosphere. However, for us, the drive wasn't worth it since we have beaches closer to home that we prefer. Still, if you're looking to explore a different beach on the South Shore, Nantasket Beach is a nice place to spend the day.

There was a food shack at the pavilion and we would get fried clams after swimming in the water with my boogie board. Then my mom would take me to the playground, and end the day with some mini golf, a carousel ride, and some ice cream. I came here yesterday for the first time in a while, and the renovations are very prevalent. Mini golf is gone, as well as the arcade and fascination. Many new restaurants, none of the ones I remember. Lots of new housing being built. Same sand, same ocean. I see a lot of hopeful developments that will energize this place, but I miss the nostalgia it had when I was a kid. We came here yesterday, May 17th, which has been the nicest day of the year so far. I didn't think it would be this crowded. Never in my almost 30 years of coming here have I seen the beach this crowded. Wow. We all had the same idea. And, it was free parking since it was before the "official" season. So it was a while of circling around and around for a spot. But then we found one. The sand is nice, no rocks. Water is warm. Good for families, or groups of friends, or solo beachgoers. Food nearby, not too many gift shops anymore, but hopefully more to come. A beachfront resort if you want a getaway. No more live music, I hope it comes back. Still have bathhouses to use, they look the same as when I was a kid. One of the best beaches in the South Shore.
