My wife and I went for massages and had a horrible experience. Mine was a deep tissue but did not feel like a deep tissue massage. She would turn my head and hold it there for 20 seconds, which I did not feel like that did anything. I felt like I was getting a massage from someone who's never done a massage before. She reeked of smoke and it was dead silent in the room. My wife said that the lady that did her massage was rude to her and hardly massaged her. She told me it felt like the person was just waving there hands over her. We've gone here a few times but with this experience never again! read more

5 stars all around from the initial online booking to the visit itself. I was pleased with this being my first massage here. The experience from start to finish was awesome. They have the friendliest staff complimenting a clean and serene establishment, I have no complaints. I am not sure if they are affiliated in any way, but this location vs the St Pete location on 4th street is way cleaner and more updated. The room was cozy and the table had a heating option!! completely new tech to me, which was a great add on to my visit. The two ladies at the front desk were very accommodating and my massage therapist, Kashi, was the best therapist I've had so far at Essentials! Entering the room, we briefly spoke about the areas where I felt a lot of tension so he can focus on those first then move on to the rest of the full body massage. Got the 50-min deep tissue- (tho it's a bit more pricey than their relaxation massage, it's totally worth the extra $$.) I will definitely be returning and scheduling my next appointment soon. In my quest for a good massage I guess I'll just keep looking. I don't feel any better now Than I did before my booking. Brian's massage was just ok. But he was overly chatty. I laid there on the table, Slowly going batty. "What the heck", "there it is", And "that's what I'm talking about" Were his unnecessary comments That left me anxious to get out. He had me hold the blanket over my crotch, "To hold everything in". I laid there, now wondering, If I'd been showing some skin. How have I somehow neglected to write a review of my favorite relaxation spot until now?? Essentials of safety harbor is my go-to spot to unwind and get pampered without breaking the bank. They have a very soothing environment here, which is also clean and welcoming. Their prices are the best in town. They have daily specials including a 1 hour massage or facial for $29.95 or a combo of both for $55. You can't beat those prices and the staff are great too. Each take their time To consult with you on your needs and personalize the experience. It never feels rushed or hurried. I like the product line they use also for massages and facials. The staff are not pushy with sales or upgrades. Every time I leave here I feel like I'm on cloud 9. I always recommend them to others. This place was totally 100 percent worth it. I was out in Florida for a vacation and decided to treat myself to a massage. I booked with Nijah and he was great. With an infectious funny and positive attitude, I felt nice and relaxed throughout my massage. Pressure was good, and he got to all my problem areas. By far my best experience ever! I went today for an European facial with Lindsay. The price point was great,not too expensive. I got there early and I got taken back exactly at 11am as my appointment was scheduled.Lindsay has the gentle hands and asked me about my skin concerns and was more than polite to me. Won't accept their own gift cards! If you have a gift card from Essentials of Safety Harbor, are you having a difficult time getting to use it? Apparently the new owner has a location in Palm Harbor (The Harbors?) and I was told by Essentials that the card could be used there. But when I call there I'm told they will NOT honor it and to take it back to Essentials (now known as Island Massage). I've been pushed back and forth but neither is accepting the gift cards! What recourse is available for those stuck with these now useless prepaid cards? read more

I will say most of the appointments over the last 10 years have been a wonderful experience; however, the statement is so very true "It is not what you say but how you say it." I have been a client of the Essentials Safety Harbor, Palm Harbor, Largo and Westchase locations for years. At one time in my life I actually staffed the massage therapist positions at the Largo location so I am extremely educated on what requirements are needed and expected of a therapist. I am also aware that they are not paid hourly and their time is extremely valuable. In the 10 years of financially contributing to the growth of each facility, I have always been mindful of the employee's time. I have cancelled approximately 7 times in my 10 years being a customer all of which I have given ample time for the therapist to fill their schedule if needed. Today was no different than any other time. I know the hours of their operation as I have utilized this particular facility and referred several clients numerous times. It was minutes after 9am and I finally reached a live person to share that under the circumstances of COVID, I was not feeling well and feared exposing their staff to what could be COVID. I did not want to put anyone in danger. In a perfect world we would all like to be able to give a 24hr notice/3hour notice; however, I woke up feeling this way and it could not be prevented. The current manager was less than sympathetic and proceeded to school me on the therapists hourly time, how they are not paid hourly , that their time is money and basically I was not being considerate of that. She then began to make me aware of their 3 hour cancellation policy. Even if that is the case they open at 9am and that only allows 2 hours for notification. I did not feel bad yesterday. With a fever and slight headache I did not want to take any chances and thought I was doing the right thing. The morning manager then began to share that their is a cancellation fee. I was never aware of this as all my appointments have been made by phone and this was never mentioned in all the time that I have been a client. Probably because this was the first time that I was not in the 3 hour window. I told her that this was not fair to me. I have always made/rescheduled my appointments through a live staff member and have never run in to this problem. She made a comment that this has been happening quite a bit with COVID. So penalize the customer when it is illness related/due to others mistakes. As a regular client to all locations, this being the first offense if you will, I would think I would be allowed a one time pass. She then said that she would not charge me this time however was noting my file that I now have been told about their policy assuming I would take advantage of the staff and lie in the future. I am appalled at the way she spoke to me and the way this was handled. Her customer service and empathy was poor at best. Just because she spoke in a soft voice does not condone her tone and what she said to me. She was condescending, accusing and interrupted constantly. She said numerous times, "well if you let me speak I was trying to say." I did let her speak; however, she was being mean and just kept repeating the same thing over and over not truly listening to me/caring what my situation was. It is a shame as I have a huge outreach, network and over 30 years of presence in the Tampa Bay community and this will be shared with all. There are plenty of other locations, franchise and massage spa's that will appreciate our business. I feel sad for this franchise location as it brings customers and referrals from all over; however, it only takes one bad apple to spoil the whole bunch. Regards, T Pratt read more

I had a great experience with Sharon as my massage therapist. She had the most amazing hands and the perfect touch for me. She has a sweet calm personality and she put me right at ease. The place is really cozy and the prices are fantastic. You definitely get a great service here. Amber at the front desk is the sweetest and most helpful. She was warm and welcoming and made sure everything was perfect and that I left happy. I'm telling everyone I know about it. I really didn't care for massage envy or some other places I've been to. Essentials is one of the best values in the area. $35 for a relaxation 50 minute massage. Their facial and massage specials are my favorite deal. The facility is easy to book with and the staff is Hospital and friendly. I would definitely recommend their couples massage too because they offer it at a great rate too. read more

Bad, bad,bad customer service. The Safety Harbor location does not know how to do good business. The reason for my bad review is the fact that Eva messed up with my reservation by booking the double promo just for one person and not for two , as I had requested. It was for $75 facial and massage yesterday. My sister is visiting from up north and wanted to treat me to a simultaneous double promo the spa offers for these days. I made clear we were two people but upon arrival we were told they only had me booked at 5pm and they were unable to accommodate us both. They asked If we agreed to split one of the treatments and we said ok reluctantly but didn't want to spoil the fun we had so much expected. After the one facial and one massage, they charged us for each separately instead of validating the promo of $75, even when they were the ones who messed everything up. We said to the receptionist that we are not coming back to Essentials Safety Harbor ever for their horrible customer service. read more

I am a bargain hunter and couponer, but I also love being able to pamper myself. I am in love with the Essentials of Palm Harbor, and knowing that the same owner bought the Safety Harbor location gave us a great reason to check them out as well. First of all, the decor and ambiance is notch. The warm greating from staff, helpful text appointment reminders, and ease of booking are all major pluses. I am always pleased with the therapist I am paired with. They are friendly and ask great questions, and then allow me to relax and enjoy the treatment. I can book a facial and massage for the price of a single massage anywhere else, and it has made me a definite returning guest. read more

I'm giving this 3 stars out of five because I like the location and price. The front desk was professional and polished. Unfortunately the massage therapist I was assigned to this last visit was a disappointment. Apparently the last therapist that I had works at the Palm Harbor location. To be fair, I have contacted the establishment to express my displeasure - hopefully they will remedy my concerns. I went home not relaxed. I've had better massages from students in training. Recently booked a massage and accidentally went to the wrong location. Seemed okay because when I booked the night before there were times available all day accept for 1 pm. They were not willing to accommodate another time when we called about going to there Palm Harbor location on accident. Now I was told their water broke but they were keeping current appts... not sure why mine couldn't be moved up by 30 minutes or an hour as they already had everything set up for us. To be honest it seems like they really just wanted to leave work early today because a of a freak accident in the building. As a manager myself, there were about 10 different things running through my head on how the could have made this better but instead I was brushed off and was told they were closing early.
