From the very beginning, while we had an idea of what we wanted, Alex helped us come to a good design/size requirement, providing suggestions and options along the way. Alex worked with his architect to complete multiple iterations of the drawings (making sure we were happy with what would be built), and also obtained the necessary permits for us. We were also able to use our own mason just for the concrete/foundation portion and there was absolutely no complications with bringing in this third party into the mix; Alex worked very well with him, making sure they were both on the same page and that all was in order for the build. As for the build, we are really satisfied with the results of the entire project, and especially with the way Alex coordinates/communicates and how he works along side his team. He was very upfront with scheduling himself and his team along with the other projects they were managing, but they were always there when they scheduled themselves to work on our house. It ended up Tachibana Painting came in at the best price, and when thinking back, we did use them in 2010 ish, when we repainted the house exterior for the first time. Also when we repainted our downstairs interior when we remodeled. James came within 2 days from when I sent a message on their website to do a quote. Had to have some window trims removed due to the carpenter bees burrowing into them, have some decorative roof beams replaced (dry rot), and a few areas patched. No problem - they have people that can do it all, in addition to the painting. Then within a day and a half of the visit, I got a written quote via email, along with the warranty if we choose to do the work with them. Had the weather cooperated, it probably would've taken about a week; from the initial power washing, to re-grouting the seams, the carpentry work, then priming and painting 2 coats. But Mililani being Mililani, it rained and the work dragged on a bit, but something the workers can't control. So overall, a good job and would definitely use them again!

After receiving three estimates we decided to hire Komori because their approach was professional and they gave us a fair price for a large job. I was also told that the HEPA equipment they used to capture dust when grinding the cement exceeded other companies and would leave very little dust in the air. This turned out to be very true and saved me a lot of time not having to clean surrounding windows, screens, furniture, etc. Komori's crew prepped our floor, repaired all the cracks and holes, then proceeded to apply numerous layers of primer, grout and sealer coats, grinding and cleaning after each coat. Their crew was very easy to work with, always smiling and always willing to accommodate our requests. They were meticulous in their attention to every detail during the many steps involved. This is not something easily found in today's economy where many contractors cut corners and complete their work as quickly as possible to make the most profit. Eric, you were great! The owners, Jason and Julia, came out and met with met to give me a quote. They got back to me a lot more quickly than some of the others, and it was a remarkably good price. I had quite a few quotes than theirs was about half the average of the rest -- $5K for the exterior of a 4BR house. I felt I couldn't go wrong at that price, even if the quality wasn't quite up to par, so I went with them. And what guarantee did I have that the higher priced guys would be better? Komori was as highly recommended as any of them. Their crew came out within a couple weeks and worked quickly. It was a large crew, with different people coming by to do different things. They didn't do as much scraping as I would have expected, but they did wash and pretreat everything. The finished product looked great, except for one spot. It was a cinder block wall portion of the car port that was flaking pretty bad before it was painted and wasn't scraped down. I called them and their son came out within a day and went over the whole area again. These guys were a pleasure to work with and delivered a remarkable product for the money. No complaints.
