A decent sized nursery with friendly and helpful staff. I was very pleased to discover that Islington Nurseries is so close to my new place. I came in the other day with clippings from my infested jasmine plant. The staff were knowledgeable and were able to recommend insecticides for my plant (which is now doing a lot better - thanks for asking :) ) They have a couple of kittens that lounge around in the outdoor part of the nursery. Triple mix is terrible, ordered for my raised bed garden and it's mostly dirt...terrible.

The worst customer service I ever experienced. I went there early in the morning and everyone including the yard helpers were so rude. They started throwing the stuff in the truck without care and when I asked what's going on they said: if you don't like it do yourself. I'm very disappointed . I went to this location 6 times from April 2024 till today June 24th 2024. Every single time the service is just the absolute worst. The older lady who works the cash register is a very nasty, rude, bitter, unfriendly, curt and dismissive person. I finally lost it today on her after her very rude service once again. I told her she was rude, nasty and unfriendly. I returned the plants to some guy working outside. I refused to buy anything and walked out. If I could give 0 stars I would. I used to go to the old tilted location on Islington. Crappy even then. Their name brand top soil was full of gravel lol live and learn? Now at their "new" location overpriced for very poor quality merchandise. $20.00 more for certain larger items than anywhere else I've seen. Very grumpy cashier. I swore years ago I'd never go back, my bad, went back this year. They had more colours available of a Marguerite Daisy I wanted that my regular store didn't have. My neighbourhood variety store has way better quality products and several $ cheaper. And the owner is very nice, he treats me like a friend. Not like the hag that thought I was ripping her off for the dead plant I brought back to exchange for the dead one they sold me. I bought 15 of the same plant one was a dud lol! Buyer beware. I have no words to explain my experience with this company. I called on three separate occasions and spoke with a very nice man that told that they would be able to accommodate my requests. Unfortunately when the my delivery arrived it was not able to happened. I called immediately and was told I would be charged a fee for the delivery even though I hadn't received any services or product. All of that is understandable however when I went down to speak with the manager Mike at Evans ave he proceeded to berate me and call me a liar in front of other customers. It was mortifying, I was shaking. I've never had a man yell at me and embarrass me like that in my life never mind as a customer. It was so upsetting that I actually started recording the incident (unfortunately I didn't start recording until after he was full on yelling, but you'll get a taste of him in the video below) In closing, regardless of the services or products that they provide, the fact that anyone would speak to another human that was is completely in acceptable. I placed an order for sympathy flowers yesterday with Islington Nurseries, then I found out the recipients (my friends) were going to be leaving their condo by mid-morning today, so I called back and asked if they could possibly have them delivered before then and they were able to do it. Came in to check out if they had silica gel to preserve flowers. Asked the florist and she had no idea what it was. LOL I honestly couldn't believe it she was an older lady and you probably would of expected it but the lady who "ran" the spot knew what it was and she said they don't carry it. The lady in charge was busy helping out a customer which sucked because it seemed she knew the answers that we were looking for. Too bad there was really no one else except the cashier who wasn't any help at all, and kind of rude. Left the place smiling and laughing because it was hysterical how the employees weren't knowledgeable about the products. Found this store be very over priced and the older staff to look down on their customers. Wanted to get a nice bunch of flowers for a friend. The flowers l was offered look like they have been sitting in a buck for water for days. Then only to find them being rapped in brown paper. Received a very expensive Christmas arrangement last Saturday, with a dozen roses and candles and greenery. One week later, all the roses are dead and withered and it was watered as required. My children would be so dissatisfied and money doesn't come easy for them. read more

The driver of your truck left a trail of chaos and damage making a delivery on Friday July 24. When I spoke with him he took zero responsibility. He hit my neighbour's truck. He destroyed our garbage shed and damaged the tree our kid's treehouse is in. I've emailed photos of the truck and some of the other damage. You should be aware of the actions of your driver. He has terrible judgement and should be held accountable for his actions. His truck was far too large to navigate our laneway. I have called and emailed multiple times with no response. read more

Expect extremely poor quality bulk triple mix from this place. (Triple mix is supposed to be a rich loam comprised of topsoil, peat and manure for growing plants--the idea is you're paying for materials that enrich your soil to optimize growing conditions. From Islington Nurseries you can expect instead a mix of wood chips, stones and some soil--very poor for growing.) We're avid vegetable gardeners. Many years ago the Evans location used to carry very rich triple mix for delivery, but a few years ago I ordered triple mix for my father and was stunned to see a shipment of very poor quality mix that consisted largely of mulchy shredded wood chips mixed in with some soil and lots of stones--definitely not triple mix, and certainly not good for growing garden plants. (Wood mulch in soil changes the pH, can disrupt bacterial/fungal dominance which leads to plant decline, disrupts carbon/nitrogen levels which affect garden yield, and can cause numerous other undesirable effects.) I complained multiple times and didn't have any response from the local manager on Evans; I ended up complaining to the head office and finally asked to speak with the company owner, who told the manager to send a fresh new yard of triple mix to my father, which we appreciated. This year we thought we'd try them again, thinking maybe the previous bad batch was a one-off accident. So, my husband ordered triple mix and mulch for our garden. I came home to find once again that the triple mix was CHOCK FULL OF WOOD CHIPS, and also contained stones (and this not an accidental blending with the mulch they delivered--the triple mix was clearly a deliberate mix of mulch and soil). It's too late for me to do anything about it since my husband went ahead and topped our vegetable garden beds with this garbage. So in effect we paid to weaken the quality of our garden soil. (Incidentally, I'm not talking about the triple mix in bags--this is about their bulk mix delivered by the yard.) Never again! As people who have long been in the gardening business, they should know better than to sell such poor mix to their customers. read more

Bought a christmas tree and had it delivered. Thought is was an old tree as the needles are somewhat yellow. Tried to put as much water in it as I thought it only needed water. After a week the branches began to droop. Really disappointed as I had spent 90 bucks on that tree. read more

I bought 3 perennial ornamental grasses in June. When I got them home they were so pot bound with roots that I couldn't loosen the root mass at all. One died in early August and I took it back to exchange it for another and I was told that they don't guarantee their perennials. The other 2 grasses I bought are not looking good at this point but they are not dead yet so I didn't mention them to the employee because there seemed no point. But Seriously? Sheridan nursery guarantees their perennials for 2 years!!! This is the first time I have gone to islington nurseries and it will certainly be the last. They are obviously buying inferior plants ...or not looking after them presale and then they take no responsibility for this inferior product even though they are charging $15 for each of these grasses. read more

What a joke. I have recently been researching how to grow an indoor vegetable garden and have found many helpful resources online. So many, in fact, that I thought someone in an actual garden centre might know a bit about it and be able to help me out. Well not in this place! Not only did it take the woman on the floor twenty minutes to even acknowledge that I was present in her empty store, but she was incredibly rude and condescending. She didn't listen to what I was asking and led me to hydroponic equipment telling me that's what I need. After clarifying for the 4th time that I want to grow an INDOOR VEGETABLE GARDEN, she snickered and told me that no one can grow anything edible indoors, except for herbs. What a bad way of doing business. There are SO MANY options out there indoor vegetable gardeners, and there are SO MANY better ways of handling a topic you may not be comfortable with. I contacted the company to get an estimate for front yard landscaping in mid september. I was told that person in charge was on vacation and they would get back to me to schadule the appointment as soon as he returned. I agreed to wait it out. I was contacted and scheduled an ppintment for Oct.10. But a few days before the appointment I got the calll that something came up and they need to reschedule. I was understanding since it was the Thanksgiving weekend. Then we reschaduel for Oct.15 at 1Pm. At 1:35 I called to find out if I still should be expevting Tony . I was told he is on his way. An hour and 10 minutes after the scheduled appointment I got a call saying that he was stuck i traffic and they needed to reschedule for the second time. I was disappointd but I gave them my availibility for the comming sat and monday. I was told that they contact me to confirm after talking to Tony. I followed up today and to my surprise I was told that they are reffering me to another company because they are too busy to take the job. After a month waiting ,now without my consent they are sharing my info with other companies And yet they dont have the courtesy to inform me about it. what a scam read more
