Also, like most Asians, I was raised in an environment that didn't believe in therapy. However, I went to see Dan for several months in 2013. He was recommended to me by a close coworker. I was very unhappy with my firm job and was suffering from depression and severe anxiety. I wanted to find a natural way to deal with my depression and anxiety and after gentle nudging from my husband, I finally made an appointment with Dan. Dan was warm, kind, and caring. I felt safe to share all my regrets and fears. He was so patient and never judgmental. Plus, it was nice to talk to someone who I didn't feel like I was burdening with my issues since he was being paid to listen. He gave me practical advice/"homework" on how to manage my work-induced anxiety. He gently challenged the false "truths" I kept ruminating on but let me come to the realization myself that many of these "truths" were created by my fears. He was immediately available during emergencies and I could tell that he truly cared about me as his patient/client. He was extremely instrumental in helping me confront my past and gain the courage to take major steps in order live the life that I wanted. I know that sounds cliche but it's true. I am so so thankful for Dan. That's Dan. Always refreshingly honest and seeking what's best for his clients. I remember that on our last appointment, he said that although he enjoyed speaking with me, he didn't think I needed to see him anymore. I highly recommend Dan whether it's for treatment of depression and/or anxiety or career counseling. My sessions with him changed my life and I continue to use the lessons I learned in those sessions every day.

Jean is the first therapist I've worked with that I feel like I've actually made progress on…read morethings, as opposed to just talking about them. Jean is also a great listener and offers a refreshingly holistic balance of psychotherapy and practical advice from her own experience. I've gotten actionable insights and takeaways from working with her so it's almost like having a coach and a therapist at once (bonus.) I've also had realizations about where counter-productive patterns are coming from which has been helpful in noticing when they come up and choosing a better way to react to something that might have triggered a negative feeling in the past. I've been able to make real progress on things I bring up with her in a very short time too. The realizations and insights I've had have helped me be freed up to accomplish things I've been stuck on and just go do them - with velocity and more peace of mind. Jean has also helped with stress and anxiety and relationships, especially with my husband. Our communication has been significantly better since we started working with her (both individually). My husband also said he noticed I've been more grounded and better at setting clear boundaries and communicating them - this is something I've noticed for myself too and I've definitely gotten from working with Jean. The Jersey City location is an actual hidden gem. It's smack in the middle of downtown JC, but the entrance is super discreet. It's warm and homey inside with comfy furniture and plenty of privacy. Lukin Center has managed a seamless transition to virtual therapy through COVID, but I'm looking forward to getting back downtown when it's safe to do so :)

However, I knew from the moment I left my first appointment that everything would be ok - Rosemary provided me with a sense of comfort I didn't get anywhere else. She gave me the strength to take steps I never thought I could, and worked with me when I was hesitant to jump. In a way, Rosemary held my hand through the entire process. Checking in with me between visits, celebrating my successes, and not judging me when I failed. She is patient, caring, supportive, and someone I very much look up to and trust. I am proud to say that because of her I am living my absolute best life. That's not to say people never have bad days, however she has taught me valuable lessons on coping with anxiety and since then I no longer need any medications. If I could give her 1000 stars I would, as this woman has changed my life in ways I never thought possible. I met Rosemary, January 2017 and it was the best decision I have ever made…read more I wasn't happy, even thou I had a great husband, healthy 2 year old boy and a successful career. It wasn't just " not being happy", I had lost my confidence and my self worth. In the last 5 years a had lost my mom of a massive heart attack, my husband survived an intense brain surgery, a miscarriage and on my second cycle of anti depressants. You can add post partum depression as well. A lot for anyone to handle and to much of a burden to put on someone else's shoulder. I had gained weight that I had lost before my pregnancy and was on track of obesity, again. Something I had been battling since my teenage years. My emotions were all over the place. I felt guilt and shame over my blessed life. My poor husband and friends couldn't even support me because I wasn't approachable and my leadership skills at work were suffering. Rosemary was the person that opened my mind to the reality that my "thoughts " were just that. Passing thoughts. She introduced cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness and meditation. She is very emotionally intelligent and within just a few sessions she made me realized that my low self esteem was the root of my rattling thoughts and disease to please. I was committed to our sessions and followed her suggestions and read her recommendations. I am proud to say that Rosemary has supported me thru this journey of Loving Myself. I am Living my Best Life. My emotions are balanced and I know how to have Compassion for myself on the days that they might not be. Needless to say, I've recently been through so many personal issues lately that even the most staunch opponent of therapy would have told me to go see someone. The therapist I picked also had to take our insurance & be the right personality type for me. Ann is awesome. In fact, she actually works with creative people which was a plus for me (that mindset is something you either get or you don't). She will offer you guidance and insight without being condescending or judgmental. The vibe is extremely relaxed and open. I have definitely felt like she understood and empathized with my situation. I would recommend her to any of my creative peers or someone who's simply looking for a non-judgmental but truthful therapist who won't impose religious dogma on you.
