CHIPSA saved my LIFE! And the people who work at CHIPSA are…read moreTHE NICEST, most kind & patient group I have ever met... anywhere. The collaborative care each patient receives --with contributing expertise from multiple physicians with different credentials & expertise-- is unrivaled.

My wife was dealing with Stage 4 Thyroid cancer. She had radiation treatment which was pretty…read moreeffective for year or so. The cancer started to come back and she was set to start chemo (in the USA) at Kaiser. She heard about CHIPSA and wanted to try it. They don't guarantee a cure. When she told me about the program, I figured worse case, her condition would stay the same. That was not the case at all. Her Kaiser doctors (in the USA) said the cancer was coming back but pretty slowly. When she got back from her 3 week treatment the cancer had suddenly picked up speed. To make things worse, she started to lose a lot of hair, which was very traumatizing for her. The CHIPSA treatment included a "weak" chemo with supposedly no side effects (the CHIPSA doctors said hair loss would not be an issue for sure). Her hair loss started a few days after returning home. The so called "weak" chemo was strong enough to cause massive hair loss but completely ineffective against the cancer itself. On top of that, she developed 2 serious bacterial infections, one in her lungs then one in her intestines. Both infections were difficult and time consuming to treat and both were very hard on her. She said there were issues with her chest IV Port, it kept coming loose. Some of her treatments included circulating her blood thru some kind of machine. Plenty of opportunities to pick invasive bacteria which is probably how she got infected. She had to delay the start of her chemo till both infections had been resolved (which took 4 weeks) by which time it was basically way too late for the Kaiser chemo. She passed away 5 weeks later. If I could go back in time I would have stopped her from going to CHIPSA. It was a huge mistake. The trip wasted precious time and caused her harm. I'm sick of people exploiting the fears of cancer patients for financial gain. They know cancer patients are desperate and they prey on them. They typically promote a few miracle cures largely based on anecdotal "evidence". So basically we paid $35,000 only to have my wife return in worse shape than when she went down there in addition to the time wasted. She had a small window of opportunity for the Kaiser chemo to maybe help and that window was squandered because of the CHIPSA visit (and its harmful after effects). My advice is, stay clear of CHIPSA and don't trust people peddling miracle cures. Use the time saved to do something actually beneficial for yourself or your loved ones. Don't make this mistake like we did. I lost my beautiful wife as a result.

10 out of 10. Location Name: Hospital Guadalajara - He was recommended to me by family members…read moresince they've gone to him for years. They love him bc US medical system overall takes their time in testing, mis-diagnosing due to not paying attention enough, etc. I needed medical attention and medical results ASAP so I took their recommendation and went to him. The hospital he is in is super clean and I was laughing bc one observation was that no matter where you go within the hospital it smells so nice. It's not the usual sterile smell you smell in a hospital, it's a relaxing scent. Mind you, if you come here, it's an all-day event. This hospital and Dr are very detailed and will want to get to the root of your problem that same day, so blood work, scanning of some sort and even surgery can happen that day, depending on what is diagnosed. They don't mess around in finding and fixing so brace yourself with the same mindset when going in. . If they can't fix same-day, they'll get you to the right direction to do that. - Dr. Virgen was so personable and positive and definitely in the details. He made a person like me who hates going anywhere medical, at ease and calm. He listens and is incredibly knowledgeable. He takes time to thoroughly go over the results of each test. Mind you, they do tests that while it's targeting the direct need, they also detect other things going on in your body. What I love is that he doesn't just give the issues but he educates you on the item and goes through a precise resolution plan for each. You walk out at the end of the day knowing the pain points, if there's anything else you need to be aware of, your treatments plan and your meds. Things to know for non-fluent Spanish speakers: This is in Mexico but even a person like me, who can speak day-to-day common Spanish but doesn't know how to speak medical terms in Spanish, most staff know at least some English, some fluent and can switch whatever machinery to English instructions if CT Scans, etc. Dr. Virgen is not fluent in English but did very well in his English and I spoke what I knew in Spanish. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you don't know at least some Spanish only bc if that's the case, there may be a struggle only bc all forms are in Spanish and not everyone that works there knows English so if they ask questions or you have any, there may be gaps in communication. I highly recommend here and Dr Virgen. It's nice to know that some of his family members work here too. I know I'll be back here on a regular basis

Within the three months I had a pet scan in San Diego and there was no cancer activity. I had another pet scan ordered by my oncologist in California 3 months later to confirm and no cancer activity. I thank God he put that hospital in my path. It's been almost 2 years I feel great and full of gratitude. I know I have to do my part to stay healthy and this hospital also educates how to eat well, to reduce stress, to rest, etc... The Dr was amazing, Food was great as well and all the people employed there were very kind and compassionate.

The MD had horrible bedside manner. They make you wait outside locked fence for 15 minutes I'm sure they CAN cure cancer in 3 weeks, but so does ITC with incredibly friendly people. I could not bring myself to consider Oasis of Hope. I am now an outpatient at ITC and the people are even friendlier than ever. ITC has many more modalities of treatment for whatever that's worth. I say JUST MAINLINE THAT B17! And may big Parma and FTC go straight to hell where they came from.
