Recently became a parent at GNS via the Cambridge Preschool Program (CPP)…read more I had many reasons to be nervous about my kiddo starting preschool - pretty big aversion to playing with other children, having essentially no daycare/nanny experience, loud "no school!" when the idea was brought up periodically in attempts to make it less foreign, being a picky eater, etc. True story - when we did a classroom visit, where families can come and see the school, be in the classrooms, and meet the teachers, my kiddo said "why do I like school?" 5 minutes into it and the rest is history (currently in the making). The thought "oh, I can leave my kiddo here" came to me pretty unexpectedly and clearly during that visit, and I legit got pretty emotional. The other reviews ring true. I volunteered for one of their holiday events a couple weeks ago and almost moved all my earthly possessions into a broom closet. I like the building that much. The unrealized 'yupster' in me likes the entire neighborhood, actually. The Black girl in me can't get with anything gentrified. I still cringe when I order at Starbucks. Hell, is it even gentrification? Boston's so old, we could probably just call it natural change. Anyway, they offer language classes and a discount for members that teach French. They also take on volunteers and interns for all who are interested. It's a nice environment and they have an amazing library. C'est tout.

My two younger kids have attended for the past year and we couldn't be happier. The teachers are loving and attentive and my kids are fluent in Spanish even though we don't speak Spanish at home. Teacher turnover is much better than at other daycares - my kids have had the same teachers many years in a row here, and they seem to be good at retaining and promoting staff. The staff are very cautious about covid protocols so we feel very safe. My kids love it here and love the teachers. Highly recommend!

It was perfect since it was a short walk from the Porter Square T Stop or if you prefer bus (we lived near Lechmere), close to many bus stops.
