I'VE NEVER HAD A WORSE MOVING EXPERIENCE than I did when we moved from WI to PA with Bekins. With…read morethe exception of the local agent at our departure in WI, Rene at JL Moving, LLC, The entire experience with Bekins was a nightmare. Our possessions were damaged, broken, disassembled, late and destroyed. At a time that was already stressful, our experience with them only compounded what we were dealing with at the time. When we finally had time to use their cumbersome online form to file a claim, we got a response from the company that stated that they received our property in its damaged condition. Now, if Bekins wants to decline liability based on our deductible, that's one thing. But to deny items in the claim because of the way they falsely assessed them is just plain wrong and insulting. It suggests that we have nothing better to do than to submit false information. As a customer who paid a considerable sum to hire Bekins for this move, we found that completely unacceptable. Additionally, they were provided with plenty of pictures to back up our claim. Allow me to share additional information on our moving experience with Bekins: Our last day of Agreed Delivery Date was 6/10/19 - we received them on 6/16, SIX days past the date and at considerable inconvenience to us. My husband works from home and needed to set up his office. In addition, we had help scheduled once our things got here and we had to extend a stay at the local location. Our belongings were transferred and retransferred in transit, we were told a trailer broke down. Because of this, all the protective packing was removed (the local agent in WI did a great job with that) and furniture was stacked on top of other furniture causing some of this damage. There is no doubt that the additional handling was very damaging to our boxes and loose items that couldn't be packed in boxes. Our shipment was combined with someone else's, so all of their things had to be taken off the truck and put in our garage before ours could be unloaded, causing a mix up in some things getting to the right place. Although we were reimbursed for the cost, we had to arrange transit for a bicycle tire to the other customer ourselves. Clearly not our job. The manner of how the boxes were stacked was pretty shocking. Heavy boxes were stacked on top of lighter boxes, crushing contents and destroying cartons to the point where they were split open. Since the delivery was so screwed up, the crew was called in at the last minute and were in such a hurry that we couldn't give them proper instructions on where to put things, check things for damage or see whether we had missing items as they were unloaded and carried in. It was so rushed that there was no way to be sure the condition of anything on that day. It was Father's Day and they all wanted to be with their families. The room was extremely limited on the trailer that finally arrived here. Because of that, many items that were intact when they left us were disassembled when they got here. The dining room table, our bikes, all of our patio furniture, shelving and more were in pieces. Since we didn't take them apart, we had no idea how to put them back together. The movers helped with some of that but left us with parts and pieces for some, which caused additional chaos on moving day. Even though they have agreed to repair the gouges in our dresser and the dings in our standing mirror, they claimed all the rest was like that when they got it. If you're looking for a mover, buyer beware when it comes to Bekins.
