Nursing at Ivy Tech Lawrence is complete crap especially for Africans and African Americans. The instructors are joyful when black students fail and are sad when black students pass. They are not Nurses and they secretly do not wish black nursing students well. They are borderline evil. They do eight weeks per time and before you can even grasp what they are talking about, you are already in for exams. They care less about you and will be quick to tell you to consider studying something else as soon as they ensure you have failed. They are sadists and could care less about your future. If you are a person of color, avoid Lawrence campus. You can thank me later. read more

The nursing program for Indianapolis is based out of this campus! A few tips: *Student parking is in the rear of the building and is most easily accessed by 56th street, instead of 59th. You will avoid a lot of slow moving traffic!! *Nursing offices are located on the 2nd floor and they have their own reception area which helps if you need nursing info vs. general student info!! *computer access is free but it costs $ to print!! *if you are a general student this a great campus to go to vs. the downtown campus, a lot smaller classes and shorter wait times for things like financial aid, advisors, etc. read more

I have taken the test to get into a cyber security course. My math scores were negligible. Since January, I have awaited a call from anyone at the Lawrence campus to speak to counselor so that I can schedule a date in order to decide which course would be more apropos. Financial aid SUCKS! They are rude, & act as if its a problem that you ask them a question that requires them to do their job. I think the reason people go to Ivy Tech is because it's accredited vs harrison, medtech, brown mackie (the 18 month) schools. At the 18 moth schools their tuition is outrageous & usually you can't transfer to a four year school. Ivy Tech is actually pretty cheap. My suggestion is do as much research you can & start as early as you can before enrolling. Maybe even a semester ahead so that you don't have any hiccups. read more

Great location for east and north siders. Building is expansive yet easy to navigate. Friendly staff and faculty. Parking at the beginning of the semester is an issue. Area around the school has many eating and leisure opportunities. read more

Financial Aid and a few of the other services are OK. I'm mainly writing the review for the EMT class I took. The class had it's problems, with the material, testing, clinical rotations, and one instructor. the Bald instructor was the worst! The guy would routinely spend more time on his soap box talking about himself then he would covering material. What makes matters worse is he wouldn't teach the material if he didn't agree with it despite the fact that it was based on national and state standards. I think I learned the least from him. We had a few military guys in the program that were going into medicine and one who was going back into medicine after doing something else for a while. He used to be some kind of combat medic and worked in EMS outside the military after he got out. He knew his stuff. To make a long story short, the instructor I'm referring to started making comments about meds in the military and how things were done in the military ( he's never served a day in the military), the student tried telling him it wasn't true, the bald instructor completely took it personally and couldn't be wrong. A couple students I know have had a problem with him. That's a pretty crappy thing to negate a veteran's knowledge and experience just because you cant be wrong. The instructor is really passive-aggressive and I think he has an anger problem. Some of the students in the class said he was the worst instructor they've had at ivy tech, one of the military guys said he was the worst ems/bls instructors he's ever had anywhere. Towards the end of the class I heard the same instructor and another staff member talking about how dumb a couple of previous students were and even mentioned a few particulars about there academic performance while they were in the classroom and a few other students were there. This guy has all the makings of a bully!..what makes it worse is that Ivy tech knows about it. I wouldn't recommend the course until they fix the problems with the material, testing, clinical rotation scheduling, and can get rid of that particular instructor. The rest of the instructors were pretty good and so were the teaching assistants. read more
