In the library I'm always surprised how quickly our stack of Xpresses (Asheville's free,…read more'alternative' newspaper) disappears after it's put out. And people aren't taking em just to line pet cages, either. In fact, a lot of people read the Xpress (though they ARE likely to end up in cages after they're read). It's a great place to find out about local and regional politics, especially around election time. There are interesting horoscopes, and movie reviews, and the 'news of the weird' is perfect for those times in line at the grocer, or waiting for your honey at the cafe. If your new to Asheville it can be a great resource, especially for music.

Mtn X has fallen out of favor with me because their headlines set me up for different expectations…read morethan what their articles actually deliver in content. And if I simply rate their articles alone, I feel like I'm not getting much informational value 75% of the time. Oh well. Plus I was thrown off by the big ads they started putting on inside front and first pages. That was a jolt, and a big turn-off.

This is my 3rd attempt to resolve a billing issue. The first two by phone. I was double charged on…read moreaugust 16th for 37.45. When I saw my cc statement in sept. I called the paper and was told they would use it for my sept statement or they would send a refund in 10 to 14 days. I chose the refund but called again a couple days later and decided to cancel my subscription as the new month charge was coming up (sept.).They said they would and I would get a couple more papers before it expired which I did. When I called again after no refund 3 weeks later, they tried to say that they would only give me partial credit which got me hot and then they finally agreed to give me full credit again.Instead I got a partial refund of 12.58 in oct. statement. I paid for august to sept. and canceled 2 DAYS AHEAD of sept. billing and am still owed 37.45-12.58=24.87. Please help or I will be filing with cc company
