I drove past two dive shops today thinking I'll wait to purchase my new gear local. I have waited all week thinking on my day off I would be all set. I checked store hours. I double checked before I left. I drive all the way to Weymouth from Nashua and I get to the dive shop at 10:30. As I pull up the place looks abandoned. Pit in my stomach I get out of my car and a poodle meets me at the locked door. The place was closed. Sign on door says. On a swimming trip. Amazing. Last time I pull into that parking lot.

The classes were taught very well- they were VERY thorough, and extremely reasonable. We've now been divers for a couple years, and every time we come in the shop, they are so friendly and helpful for anything we need! Once you've gone there, it's like you're family. Items are always always in stock. I think maybe ONCE they didn't have a certain bag in, and he ordered it right away for us. Prices are great- comparable to what you can find on ebay, and we would rather buy from them anyway because of the safety factor. We will definitely continue to go here- it's a great local shop that offers charters, advice, and continuing education. I think my husband would live there if he could!

We arrived at 6, as requested, to find an open, unlocked, unattended shop reeking of cigarette smoke. Turns out start time, due to pool availability, had changed but nobody bothered to inform me. Once Chris arrived, things improved. And we had a "successful" Intro to Scuba lesson. Scuba is freaky. It's just not natural to breathe underwater. And even with a tank, mask and mouthpiece, breathing under water does not come naturally. Hence my use of "". Chris totally gets that and invited us back to give it a second try, at no additional charge. Chris is a great instructor, he totally loves scuba and wants to pass his love of the sport on to others. He also offers a scuba certification program. Though if you have never dived before, I definitely recommend the intro to scuba. It is WAY different than snorkeling. We've yet to make a decision as to whether or not to give it another try. That breathing under water thing. Freaky.

My first dive with Jim and the Boston Scuba team and I could not be more impressed with the venue…read more(cool area of Boston) the professionalism (low key confidence and super organized) and the dive boat is roomy and made to handle the harbor (12 tons of stability). Jim has a great play list during the dives and knows the water cold (yeah 50 degree at 50 feet so bring all of your 7MM gear) and where the fun stuff is. Lots of stuff to see on the ride as well between CodZilla and the pleasure crafts in the harbor. Sipped a couple of cold ones at the East Coast Cider outside lounge afterward...all in all a great day!

We just happened to find ourselves in the same dive group (I am not a customer or a travel client of Mark or Mass Diving--not yet, anyway!), and yet Mark spent the week sharing his considerable knowledge base with me and with all of his fellow divers. Given how kind, fun, attentive and generous Mark was with random dive partners in his group, I can only imagine the level of service and care that his actual customers and clients would receive on one of his trips! I was completing this course, including the open water portion, all in December; I was eager to get certified in a New England winter, and Dave matched that energy. From the moment you meet Dave, his enthusiasm for SCUBA is palpable. Throughout long class days, Dave is cracking jokes, telling anecdotes and getting you excited about the skill you're about to have, all while answering a barrage of questions. In the water, he is professional, vigilant, and in his element. He exudes an air of calm and control, allowing you to confidently perform skills that would otherwise be terrifying or disorienting- like removing your goggles or respirator in 45 degree water. Beyond that, the staff is equally as knowledgeable and the community they foster is incredibly warm and welcoming. Even on my open water dives where I thought it was just going to be myself and Dave, I ended up meeting more people who tagged along just because they wanted to dive. I'd be hard pressed to find a more inviting community that is excited to pass the knowledge along to others. They do a great job ensuring the fills you have requested are accurate, timely, and at a fair price. The staff is always pleasant to deal with, nice to be appreciated when you're spending your hard-earned money. They also teach under the NAUI banner which in my opinion is one of the top certification agencies for instructors to operate under.
