Dom was knowledgeable, kind, and professional. He got the work done fast and took photos for us. Here's where things went wrong: In our consultation with Dom he told us our chimney needed to be relined and repointed. He quoted us $3,600 but told us if we paid cash it would be significantly less. Cash would bring the total down to $2,900. We're new home owners and have been spending quite a bit to fix the place up, so naturally we jumped at the lower price. We paid cash in full. Before Dom left he notified us that he didn't have time to repoint the chimney but he would come back over the weekend. He never came back. We called and texted him multiple times over the course of a month. He would set dates with us and then no show. Eventually we called the owner of Irish Sweeps Chimney and at first he promised to make it right. Then he said he couldn't do anything without proof money was exchanged. Dom didn't give us a receipt for the cash we gave him so it was our word against his. We have multiple texts and calls from him promising to come finish the job but it wasn't enough. I understand why the owner would side with his employee, but it's very disappointing that this happened in the first place. We paid him thousands and even tipped him. In retrospect was it a little stupid to not get a receipt? Yes, for sure. However based on the stellar reviews, Dom's charm, and his promise to come back, I didn't think much of it at the time. We put our trust into a company we thought was reputable and one awful employee took advantage of that. Don't let first impressions fool you-- save your money and hire someone that will actually do what you pay them to do.

A brief conversation turned into him loudly talking over me and not allowing me to speak. I told him when the siding had been done and when the windows were done, he immediately started telling me the reason it was leaking was due to the contractor who did the siding- they were the cause of that even though the siding was done six years ago and it's only leaked twice starting about four weeks ago. Then he said it was because of the immigrants- they were doing all of the wrong work. I told him that this particular job was not done by immigrants. our regular Handyman and his son did all of it. He also was telling me I wasn't qualified to tell whether someone was properly licensed in NY or not because I just had someone else give an estimate who showed me their license who had wanted to take the window out and then put it back in with new protection etc. At some point I said are you going to tell me what you think about the window and he said I already did it's $800-$1200 without really explaining what they were going to do. I don't recall him saying that in this crazy conversation before perhaps he did and I couldn't remember because it was mostly him berating me. Anyway, I said that's too expensive and goodbye. I do not recommend this company based on this. It's too bad because they do seem to have a lot of good reviews and I was considering to ask them about the other leak with the roof as well that hasn't happened again for a year. After three strike outs with three different people now I am ready to just go to Home Depot and ask them to tell me how to fix this myself.
