After a very messy water leak in our home while we were away for Thanksgiving with family out of…read morestate, our insurance company asked who we would like to do the repair work. Because of previous, good experience with them, we quickly responded that we would use H2 Renovations. Once the dry out work was done (including cutting portions of sheetrock out in 3 rooms to enhance drying and removal of wet insulation), carpenters Matthew and Jonathan showed up early one morning. They replaced and floated the sheetrock, reinstalled baseboards and shoe molding, replaced a bathroom door in less than two days. Painter Misa jumped right in to head up the painting effort (repainting the 3 affected rooms along with an adjoining hallway) with the help of Jesus, Junior, and Jose and a couple of other painters I didn't get the names of. Due to multiple coats and a few scheduling issues, the painting took about 9 days of work to complete, but we were thrilled to get all the repairs done in a little over a month. The office staff was attentive to our requests, and Bart kept in touch with us throughout the effort, maintaining a friendly, accommodating and very efficient oversight. Everyone involved was focused, efficient, and notably courteous while being very sensitive to our needs. Daulton and his crew are lovely people and have been great to work with when they show up…read more However, this job has had many hiccups. The plumbers that Daulton subcontracted to do the gas line decided to try to carry my oven instead of using a dolly, and they dropped it and dented/scratched my brand new hardwood floors. Daulton promised he would make it right. However, there really isn't anything to be done about the damage because it would require sanding and refinishing, a process I do not want to do a second time. I personally had to call the subcontracted plumbers to come install the oven vent hood multiple times. Then I began receiving bills from them because Daulton did not pay them timely. Daulton requested that we put more money down on the project in addition to our initial payment since the project was nearing its end. I provided the requested payment in good faith that he would finish the project swiftly. They picked up the check, and then stopped showing up. After reaching out multiple times, Daulton said he could send someone out in 3 to 4 weeks. James comes by for all of 5 minutes to look at the walls that need wallpapering. He says he hasn't done wallpaper in a long time and he doesn't know what a centimeter is, which is what the wallpaper measurement is in. Then he leaves and said he would be back tomorrow. I express my concerns to Daulton. He never shows back up the next day. I reach out to Daulton and he said James is supposed to call him. He still never shows up. I tell Daulton, I don't want wallpaper anymore. I just need the shelves installed and the trim put up. I honestly would just hire someone else to finish, but Daulton has the custom materials I provided him to make the shelves. Daulton once promised that this project would be done before Easter and it is sitting unfinished in September. I am incredibly disappointed because I really do think Daulton and his Family are great people. However, my job stopped being prioritied the second I provided additional payment.

Hargrove Roofing replaced my roof, but during the project a roofing nail punctured an HVAC…read morerefrigerant line in my attic. What should have been a straightforward customer-service issue ultimately turned into a lengthy legal dispute. My primary concern was not the roof installation itself, but how the risk was communicated and how the situation was handled after the damage occurred. The sales representative reviewed the proposal and project details but did not review the Terms and Conditions with me or discuss the provision stating that roofing nails may penetrate the roof decking and enter the attic. Had that specific risk been clearly discussed, I would have asked additional questions about the location of attic utilities before work began. Hargrove made a settlement offer before filing suit and maintained that position throughout the dispute. My subsequent settlement proposals were rejected, and the matter ultimately resolved on terms very close to Hargrove's original demand. As a result, a problem that began with a damaged HVAC line developed into months of litigation, attorney fees, court costs, and settlement discussions. I paid to repair the HVAC damage and then spent almost a year dealing with a dispute that ultimately consumed far more time, stress, and money than the original problem ever should have. Looking back, I believe a reasonable compromise at the outset would have been a better outcome for everyone involved. One thing I found particularly ironic was a sign displayed in Hargrove's office that read, "COMMUNICATE, COMMUNICATE, COMMUNICATE." In my experience, that message did not match what occurred. The specific risk that roofing nails could damage attic utilities was never clearly communicated before work began, and the lack of meaningful communication contributed significantly to the dispute that followed. The case has now been formally resolved and the judgment satisfied. In my view, the central issue was never the roof itself. It was the failure to clearly communicate a known risk before work began and the inability of the parties to reach a practical resolution after the damage occurred. Prospective customers should carefully read every page of the contract, including the Terms and Conditions, and ask specific questions about the risk of damage to HVAC lines, plumbing, electrical wiring, or other utilities located near the roof decking before signing. I wish I had done so. Based on my experience, I would not use Hargrove Roofing again.
