If you're reading this - you probably fit under one or more of the following: 1) You're considering becoming a diver, 2) You're a diver new to the area; 3) You need to find a local place to service or buy equipment. I think I can recommend them on all these points. I got qualified as a diver there in 2008. They've answered my questions, given me advice. The training has prepared me for events both expected and not, thus enabling me to have fun instead of fear. In short, they've literally kept me alive. They have instructors with varying personalities. I think it's safe to say that all of them have the skills to help you gain certification/improve. However, they all have different personalities. I'd recommend asking about that - perhaps even going as far as interviewing instructors to gauge compatibility. They've arranged purchases and travel, even when I wasn't buying from them. Some items can be bought cheaper through the internet, but we will always need a local shop to provide pool training, fill our tanks and such, so I frequent them to help keep them open. They organize group dive trips to exotic locations at a fair price. During the summer they get small groups to go to local quarries so you can both practice and gain friendships. I met my primary dive buddy in this manner (having a dive buddy allows you to dive more often!). They're not perfect, but they're all about encouraging/enabling you to get out and dive. Scuba diving is not something that's been on my bucket list forever, and if I'm being honest, not something I thought I would enjoy...but I do! A lot. I'm really thankful I got talked into taking the classes and getting PADI certified. I mean, what girl doesn't want to be a mermaid? The classes met once a week for 5 weeks. After the classroom studies and tests, it's time practice in a pool under the supervision of certified instructors for another 5 modules. The final open water dive certification is in Pelham, Alabama at Blue Water Park. They plan it as a weekend trip and it's a fun time as a group! The instructors have been diving almost my entire life, and one is a retired teacher, so she's very patient and will definitely give you one on one time if needed. I needed it and got it from both of them. The classes are $450 per person. If you're already certified, they sell diving equipment and give refresher courses.

We had classes at his shop, an easy to understand book study, and pool sessions that prepared me to be successful in the lake to complete my certification. Throughout the classes and instruction, Mike was very knowledgeable and patient. I loved learning how to be a safe diver. While I lived in Memphis I got my Advanced Open Water certification with Mike's instruction and I went on two cool dive trips with Mike and H20 divers. We went to Cozumel and Curacao ( for a week each trip.) I had a blast and felt very confident as a new diver. Staff has always been respectful and quick to offer assistance. Sales and transfers went without hitches. Staff has been especially helpful with gunsmithing projects. They always completed them quickly and satisfactorily. This week, they removed an existing AR barrel and installed a new one I provided in about an hour while I waited. Good communication happened during this as staff working on this had not previously done this with the particular arrangements (standard mil-spec.) on my AR/barrels. His willingness to listen to me prevented unnecessary and parts damaging steps he originally thought had to be done to complete this task. Took the AR to Jonesboro Shooting Sports Complex today. It functioned flawlessly, zeroed easily and delivered expected accuracy, hitting 10" steel @ 200 with red dot sight.

I'm very disappointed that although he acknowledged their sign and stated that there was an error on their part as far as taking this down earlier he failed to make it right after I wasted a substantial amount of time shopping for my very large family. I was publicly shamed by this store manager for asking to have his help and he physically removed the sign and yanked it away from me when I went to point out him what it says. I left our cart full of items and did not make a purchase.
