Talk about attitude! Yesterday (4/25) the sign in the case on the box said the frozen small-size softshell crabs were $2.50 ea. or $25/dozen. When we went to checkout, the clerk tried to charge us $55 for 12. When I pointed out the pricing on the sign, he said $55 was the new price. No "sorry" or "our mistake" or honoring the store sign. We have been coming here for as long as they've been open. This isn't the 1st time they have messed up their pricing and given us a bad attitude. Sorry to see the place going down like this. Shrimp salad! Mmmmmmm! The place smells like a fish market, as it should. The crabmeat is freshly picked. If they're out, they won't fill the ice bed with meat that has been purchased outside. Don't go on the first operating day of the week, because fresh stocks will be low. read more

The food is great! No complaints on the food we have received. The gentleman at the cashier on the fishing gear side of store is super nice and helpful. I give 2 stars cause every time we grab seafood + food the employees are not welcoming. They rush you with your order and are very short when talking to you. Overall, they give us the impression that they either hate their job or are having a bad day. Smile a little bit. Instead of "anything else?" x20.... maybe "any questions?" or "how's your day?" or "how can i help you?" Be kind and maybe I will enjoy shopping from J&W Seafood. read more

Great little seafood shop! Get your bait and tackle, some wine, a hostess gift and fresh fish for a gourmet dinner, all in this one little place! My first impression of a seafood store is how it smells. If I can smell the fish, I won't buy. J&W has never disappointed. Well, except when I want fish and they're closed. We stop quite often for fresh seafood. The shrimp salad is one of the best I've had, and the fish/seafood is always fresh. They'll offer to pack in Ice for you, too! Nice small selection of wine and gift-y items, as well as selection of additional ingredients, so you don't have to make a second stop at the grocery. read more

Not cheap, but great fresh fish. Mostly seafood, but some prepared foods (like crab dip) are available. We bought a piece of salmon and Spanish Mackerel. They were amazing and no "fishy" smell so you know it's fresh. Supplies available to fishermen as well. Great and friendly service. read more

The seafood market portion of the store is VERY OVERPRICED and not the freshest looking fish. 20$ for 1 lb of flounder?! buy it cooked at a restaurant cheaper. I've been to many seafood markets in VA and this place was double those prices. read more

I went in each of the past two Saturdays and the store was very crowded. It's a great business. Very few customers had masks on so both times I left. I went back early Tuesday morning and there were very few customers and shopped then. This is the only business in Deltaville that does not encourage masks. I'd like to know why. read more

Have lived in Deltaville part-time for 5 years now; when considering investing in this sweet river home, we were told by our future neighbors that J&W was a treasure - and they are right. Not much to look at outside (except the huge pile of oyster shells and the cool large boots for a pix!) and once inside, you'd think it's small. Don't be fooled. Packed with fresh seafood (fish and shellfish) and some delightful homemade sides, never a week goes by that we don't step into this gem. Mussels, shrimp, scallops, crabs, soft-shells, clams, flounder, rockfish, salmon, cod, so many others. Frozen items too (lobster, king crab, others). Try their homemade kale salad, their shrimp-baked stuffed potato, their smoked salmon, the Rivah Dip, crab balls, olives, slaws, and for real fun, the bad of crab claws! The family of the owner and all the staff are simply wonderful and really invested civic leaders. Rural quality at its finest! read more

Good selection of lots of stuff but way over priced and their 'fresh' raw shrimp was pink. Thats not 'fresh' shrimp like she tried to tell me. Fresh shrimp is not pink. Decent store just dont like be robbed at the cash register or lied to. Will return for bait when i have to. read more
