The best cupcakes in the world. They don't have a huge choice. They add ones here and there during the year at seasonal times. I'm not a big fan of choc cake. So I tend to avoid those cupcakes. They also do mini cupcakes. They bake to order cupcakes and cakes for all occasions. Some of my fave cupcakes are white choc and raspberry,rhubarb and custard and honey bun. I first tried J Birds little cakes of joy when a box arrived to the office as a gift from a happy client, and the staff descended like starving scavengers, the entire box demolished to sounds of mmmmmm in mere seconds. That was a while ago, and when a friend reminded me of it the other day I was compelled to visit the actual shop under the pretence of getting the other half a treat. OK, I wanted a treat, but a good deed is still a good deed. The ladies were lovely and full of chat as I tried to decide what to go for, which considering we are just talking cupcakes not career choices, it was surprisingly difficult. I decided on 3 chocolate ones- a chocolate raspberry, a salted caramel chocolate and a raspberry chocolate. Don't ask me to choose my favourite, as they all were. Moist with a little surprising gooey centre on the caramel and raspberry ones they were flawless. The other half felt the same, leading me to believe that this is a little treat he wants me to repeat, so looks like J Bird will be getting a lot more of my pocket money in the future, not that I'm complaining... read more

I can never walk past this shop without looking in the window at the lovely array of cupcakes , lovely displays that makes your mouth water but I never actually went in to buy a cupcake but My friend brought me a raspberry glitter cupcake and a lemon frosting cupcake when she came round to my house, they came in a little box and looked cute, lovely light and fluffy moist golden sponge with that lovely homemade taste, and a lovely raspberry glitter frosting that tasted of vanilla raspberry lovely and creamy, all I can say is yum, the lemon cupcake was gorgeous too that lovely sponge and swirly lemon frosting hmmm, bit pricey but you get what you pay for. read more

What, yet more cupcakes I see! The scrumptious delights are becoming hard to avoid in Belfast these days and are the speciality of a new bakery/café on Bloomfield Avenue, Jbird Bakery. It's a cute little place done up in a girly way with pyramids of cupcakes in numerous flavours. I tried the cookies and cream variety, a quite unnecessary indulgence with a cappuccino but I couldn't fault either the cake or the coffee, only myself for being rather greedy. There are only a couple of tables here, very small light ones with metal curlicued legs, good perches at which to peruse the range of cupcakes that includes Madagascan Vanilla, Decadent Chocolate, Pink Lemonade and the good old Red Velvets to name just a few. They also produce full scale cakes and cupcake gift boxes, so another source to consider if you are ordering a cake for a special celebration. read more

I love this place. It would put you in mind of the sort of place that the leading lady would open in a rom-com. I mean this in a good way. The cupcakes are amazing, so much so we got them to cater at our wedding. You can see the cupcakes being made out the back and if you like sit in and eat a few while you decide which to take home.
