When we say bespoke, we mean total control: cloth selected according to your requirements, a pattern hand cut to your dimensions and posture, construction by hand across multiple fittings, and an outcome that only a true bespoke practice can deliver.
History
Established in 1884.
J.H. Cutler has been making artisanal bespoke clothing in Sydney since 1884, making it Australia’s longest established bespoke tailor. More than 140 years of continuous operation, five generations of ownership, and the same conviction at its core: that true bespoke is a singular form of expression for both the client and the artisan.
In 2022, J.H. Cutler passed from John Cutler OAM to Sam Hazelton, the first owner outside the Cutler family in the house’s history. Sam was drawn to a craft that seemed a blend of method and mystery; and trained under John for twelve years, taking ownership on his retirement.

I spent the 12 years working alongside John Cutler, learning the practice of bespoke tailoring from one of its most accomplished living practitioners. In 2022, on his retirement at seventy-three, he passed the stewardship of J.H. Cutler to me.
