This company is devious and in my mind criminal! I intend to fully prosecute them. Do NOT use them. I had an auction back in July and here we are 2 months later & they have NOT yet paid me! Understand that these guys collect the money the day of the auction. They sold my valuables including, Lalique, silver & fine jewelry. The money they made on my auction was significant. Whenever I follow up with them, I try contacting their various numbers and find that that either their phones have been disconnected or are not accepting messages. One main line accepts messages however not once has anybody ever called me back. They Have recently moved to a new undisclosed area and the only way to contact them is through email. Scott Grasso the president emailed me once that I will get paid but that has not yet happened and he nor his wife who is onsite at the auction collecting the money will speak with me. The sales representative, Eric Sanudo who I trusted and seemed professional disconnected his cell phone and there's no way to contact them. When you go on to their website you can see that they are still conducting auctions. These poor people have no idea that their not going to get paid. When you sell someone's personal possessions and then keep all the money that's called STEALING!!!!! Warning, stay away from J. Sugarman! read more

Buying, from my experience, has been easy. I have no problems just logging on to the website and finding the blurbs & links to proxibid. I'm not endorsing proxibid, but that just how it was when I won some film industry's assets from some producer's show that had gotten canceled. Another horrible experience with Sugarman Auctiin on 03/02/2021. I showed him the receipt in my phone and he tried to touch my phone. I asked him to not touch my phone. He got pissed off and hostile. Apparently he is not organized. I picked up for a friend of mine and was reminded why I don't deal with Sugarman auctions. Horrible rude service and a petty old man that is borderline psycho and unorganized as hell. I stopped going there years ago because the bad service and always late to start the auction. We have been going to Jay Sugarman auctions for many years. They are honest and fair and recommend them to everyone.

I recently has the opportunity to use proxibid to buy items from this auction. I won a total of 6 items. I have a copy of the tape and one of the items I won they decided to pull after It was confirmed that I won. this seems fraudulent so I requested a call to explain why this happened and apparently we as customers are not important enough. As they have not called me back. So I then filed a complaint with state of Florida and come to find out this company has had several issues with the state just look up the board meeting.. J.sugarman was the worst experience i've ever had i don't recommend anyone trying to sell something using J.Sugarman corp. Like many of us, in need of help, depending on some of these different auction corporations, J.Sugarmans was my one of biggest regrets. Very unprofessional. I was better off not auctioning of my materials and supplies than hiring Jay sugarman auction. They completely embarrassed me. They were late, rude and completely unprofessional. Clients that came to bid were ignored and when they asked questions where basically told F*ck you in so many words and a lot left my store before the auction began. Please stay away from this company if you value your property. They took my stuff and forgot to advertise it. Then they sold part of it 5 weeks later for a fraction of its value and tried to charge me storage and labor for the rest while they were clearly in breech of contract by not selling it. As soon as the auction is over they won't answer the phone and make you wait at least 15 days for a paltry check. Dealing with them has been a nightmare and I now have the Better Business Bureau and the Florida Board of Auctioneers involved. Looks like being a long drawn out affair and my hopes of reparation are minimal. Don't hand over any property to them. read more

Here's the sour then the sweet: Sugarman has made a lot of enemies. His company is extremely unorganized. You often don't get the actual item you won. It has happened to me dozens of times. Yet I still return. Why you may ask? Because no matter how terribly run their company is, no matter how unethical they are, it's still an awesome way to get a deal. There are are many people who make a lot of money reselling things purchased at their auctions. Liquidation auctions usually go for pennies on the dollar. After you buy something make sure you pick it up immediately or it might go missing or be damaged. Try not to bid online because they will take advantage of you, go in person. Be nice to the woman at the front desk. All the girls are great and just doing their job. read more

Where should I start, I feel like I was dealing with a used car dealer in the 90's, where they told you what ever you wanted to hear. They told me they would have the entire place cleaned up after the liquidation, that didn't happened had to rent a 20 yard dumpster to throw away all that was unsold. They told me to not sell any of my big equipment because they would get more money then if I sold myself, they had no clue of what equipment was worth, If I would have known I would have put reserves on all my big equipment. They only people that showed up were mostly yard sale hunters just a few qualified buyers that were in my trade. I was told verbally from the owner monies would be available within 10 days as we were shaking hands to get the deal done. When I called to find out the availability of the funds on the tenth day, I was told that it would be 15 working days as it was stated in the contract, when asked the owner about what he had promised, I couldn't get an answer back. Finally got the funds on 13th working day. The auction started 30 minutes late and the auctioneer left halfway thru taking a lot of momentum with him, the relief auctioneer was less than energetic, and it really started to tank, bundling items to go faster. Overall I feel cheated, taken advantaged of, and would not recommend to my worst enemy. read more

They are absolute SCAM artists. We were in need of help with sales revenues and heard about Jay Sugarman auctions. They were given over $300,000 worth of merchandise and we were paid less than $9,000 TOTAL!! They never explained the process, generated their own inventory #'s w/out reference to ours, this left a mess trying figure things out. The communication was horrible and lies were told about when payment was finally sent. Please, do yourself a favor and research prior to doing any business with J Sugarman auctions. They are CROOKS! Protect yourself and avoid the frustration and dissapointment we experienced. read more

Multiple issues in second time bidding through this auction. SHIP/HANDLING - My two items that could fit into a shoebox and weigh about a half-pound, initially were charged $25 for shipping and handling. It was reduced, however the items still haven't arrived nearly TWO WEEKS after paying. Why pay double what Priority Mail costs, to have an item delivered much later than 2-3 days? I was reminded about "handling", which evidently means you pay double for them to handle your items for a week before putting them in a box and being lost. LACK OF INVOICE - I received an email, not from a J Sugarman account, asking for $25 shipping. I asked for a detailed invoice but received only more requests to pay for shipping. LACK OF COMMUNICATION - Multiple emails asking for tracking number were not responded to. As far as communication that did occur, I spoke with three different people who each needed to have entire situation explained to them and NONE of them could provide a tracking number. Conversations have happened with people in Florida and Ohio, which is evident with the miscommunication and also underscores how Bush became president in 2001. In summation, it seems this organization believes it's reasonable to charge the seller a fee, the buyer a fee and make money off "shipping and handling" that delays your package. I'd advise any bidders to pay only with credit card, so the charges can be disputed when you realize items aren't arriving. read more

Jay sugarman auctions are "buyer beware". If you have any suspicions about the item, or working condition, make sure you are allowed to test, in full, before purchase. Auctions are generally, "as is", you need to understand that, but jay sugerman is not a reputable auction house and will sell damaged or non-functional goods with deception in mind. read more

I don't understand the negative review. I went to their auctions almost weekly and got great buys, especially since there was no reserve. You cannot beat their going out of business sales. I furnished three apartments after the Hurricanes with everything from sinks and lighting fixtures to furniture and accessories, all high end for pennies on the dollar. It gets tiring, but go prepared to spend most of the day and wear comfortable shoes. read more

FYI: This last review from Tim E. is a joke! This guy is full of BS. I been to many, many, many Sugarman auctions and it is customary for them to start 30 minutes later then advertised. I know for a fact, there is always someone their representing the company. They are giving the stragglers time to get to the auction.. This person doesn't have a clue as to want it takes to setup an auction. Yes they sometime have issues but, they are few and far between. Took two. truck loads of items from our home, we never got a list of what was taken out we did not did sign any papers that's not the way he does business. Many items lost or broken those accounted for were sold way below reasonable asking price. Sold marble to night table tops was told. Only left one star because it wouldn't let me leave zero. Poor business practices. Wan a trading card and paid same day invoice was received. No response for 2 weeks. Emailed again but no answer for five days. Finally received another invoice for shipping which was higher that the cost of the merchandise. Shipping costs were outrageous. Very very poor customer service. Never buy from these people again. Check other sites and they all have bad reviews for this company. read more
