    Insulation should be on blue PEX line

    I've used this company twice - first, to clear a blocked drain on short notice and they did fine. Months later, I found out that my house had polyvinyl butride supply lines, which tend to fail. Based on the first experience, I called J.T. out to get an estimate. The guy they sent recommended insulated PEX and quoted me $4000. I saved up and called back a few months later to get them to do a complete replacement. Here's where the problem started. The first guy is gone, and his quote was too low, by $2000. So I went and pulled the trigger anyway after not being able to get another plumber to even get me an estimate. They took a few days to get the job done, fine. Final price was over $7000, but only the first section of hose bib line was replaced, and much of the insulation was left on the ground without being wrapped around the PEX. Part of this was my fault for not checking the work out more thoroughly right after completion. Lessons to be learned 1) get multiple estimates 2) check work thoroughly and communicate dissatisfaction promptly (I called them to discuss and their office manager would always call back when I was not available) 3) be tenacious about getting satisfaction. I admittedly gave up too easily. I feel bad for the next contractor I hire because I'm going to uncomfortably involved in the process.

    Two holes in our ceiling, no repair made.

    Save yourself the headache. We spent $250 for this company to fix a leak in our ceiling (directly under the water heater they installed) and they cut two holes in our ceiling, never identified the source of the leak, and still haven't repaired the two holes they made originally. My husband and I have called to schedule a technician 5 times over the last two months and no one has shown up. I even spoke directly with the manager, Rachel, to ensure a technician would show up and they still didn't come out after Rachel called me that day to confirm my appointment. Don't waste your time like we did.

    Dry wall

    I needed a P trap replaced under my washing machine to my drain. J.T. plumbing showed up at my house after speaking with them on the phone, they quoted me for a $85 diagnostic fee. Then, they told me they needed another crew to come out to perform heavier service on my pipe. Each time they came, they charged a ridiculous amount for "service" when in reality, they broke my washing machine vent, didn't fix it, and proceeded to cut a 4x4 inch hole in my dry wall. This service alone costed me $900 just for them to tell me I needed the next level of help. The plumbers took advantage of me, and presented me with numerous payment options. Not once did they present me an invoice, and made me pay $1500 up front for a down payment for their $3000 to fix the p trap. As someone inexperienced in plumbing, these prices seemed very sketchy to me, and I had to call the owner for him to tell me exactly what I was paying for, since the plumbers would not provide that. He then went on to explain how each visit is very costly and timely to them, and sounded like he couldn't give two cares about his customers, and cared more about money than his finished product. The next day when the plumbers were supposed to finish the project, the owner called the plumbers and told them to cancel the project, they walked out and promised a refund for the zero work that they did via phone call with the owner. However, the owner never called back after three days of promise, and completely blew us off. After doing more research around NoCo, I found many honest plumbers who were willing to carry out the replacement for under $900, a FRACTION of what the down payment J.T. plumbing was offering. Needless to say, give your money to people who care about their product, not their egos. J.T. plumbing is extremely unethicavl.

Responses by email and text are quick and they answer the phone or call back promptly. Highly recommend for plumbing and water heater service! I started off having them do some plumbing work for me to correct issues identified during a water meter replacement. They did a great job so I quoted for some more work - a leaky toilet valve, replacing the main water shutoff gate valve that leaks by, and a spigot that cannot decide whether it leaks or no. They sent thorough quotes that gave me all the necessary information to gather comps (none of which were comparable in price or thoroughness). I decided to move forward with the water heater and leaky toilet valve (when it rains it pours; AC went out at the same time I needed this job) and Tim showed up right at 9. He was polite and respectful and got right to work. He brought the new water heater in on a dolly, appropriately strapped and used a part of the cardboard box to protect the unit from the ratchet strap. When he had to run out for a part, he let me know and went to get it. The water heater install and toilet valve replacement took around 3 hours. I did a goof and moved cash to the wrong bank account and didn't have my checking account funded on the day of service. I called and talked to Audrey while Tim was still on site and she said it was totally fine to write a check that would be ready to cash on Friday (it's a Wednesday currently). Customer service is top notch and a great example of why to keep using independently owned businesses when private equity and corporate options seem like an easier option. One consideration is that of the 4-5 times Front Range Water Heater employees have been at my house, none have covered their shoes. For service professionals entering a home in all weather conditions and going back and forth to the nasty crawl space, that's a level of respect to the homeowner that I hope for every time and rarely encounter these days. So I'm not docking them for it but I do hope they consider the practice.
