Students get $5 discount off the posted nightly hotel rates at Reitz Union Hotel. The book store sells everything from a pin to an anchor. It was interesting to not see any books! This student union has so much to offer - great restaurants (Panda Express, Starbucks, Wendys, Subway, Pollo Tropical and Chick Oil A and more) and a great bookstore. They have a pool table, a bowling alley and a bike repair shop that is run by the student government! This is crazy. I had so much fun going through it and going through the bookstore with all of its UF clothing and paraphernalia! They have a welcome center and are incredibly friendly as well! They are ready to give you information whenever you need it! The architecture is stunning and the artwork here is beautiful! It is a 3 story facility, so come in and give them a whirl! read more

It's epically nicer now and offers many more food options and college resources compared to what was offered in the distant past. Wow! I would so want to come back here to do it all again...of course, if I were only 25 years younger. LOL. We certainly didn't have a Starbucks! And a Panda? I regret not spending more time here as a student. There are so many things to do here. You kind of forget you have homework priorities if you linger here too long. I really enjoyed the exhibit they currently have. My favorite pieces are the photo series with the girl who is sleeping among her things, which signify her surroundings (i.e., in the kitchen, she is sleeping on the floor with pots and pans and cooking stuff around her). I also enjoyed the short excerpts of literature displayed at the very front. When I went to school here, one of the pieces featured in this gallery was a painting of Dragonball characters and raw steak. ::shrug:: KamehameYUM? Lol Colonade - This is one of the most trafficked areas. I don't know if they still do the poster sales, but I remember buying a lot of cheap posters here. One of them was a Dali reproduction - The Hallucinogenic Toreador. Food court - My favorite restaurants were Subway and Wendy's and they didn't have the Starbucks yet. Probably why I found myself at the coffee vending machines on campus a lot. This area has expanded immensely since my days. So much more to eat! And so much more coffee to pull all-nighters. You all are so lucky! Restaurant outside near the colonade - When I was there, it was a Tex-Mex restaurant. I didn't really catch what it is now. Auditorium - where I went with roomie Diana to see a guy lecture about 80's music. I also saw a foreign movie here with my friend Johnny. It looks like they still feature lectures and movies here. Rion Ballroom - where I attended a Pinay concert and got their autograph and pics (you Cali people might know who I'm talking about). Also, where Devotion (another Cali R&B group) performed and a friend from ASU had asked me to model an outfit for a fashion segment for Asian Awareness month. Games - I vaguely remember a bowling alley where you couldn't smoke indoors, and it seems that they still have the DDR game like they did the last time I saw a glimpse of the Reitz many long years ago. I remember being able to buy glow stick jewelry from the gameroom back then, too. 2nd Floor - where the Hip Hop Collective used to breakdance every week (when they first started) and I'd go home sore for 2 days afterward. This was my first trip back to G'ville in over 30 years and what a change! I was looking for the bookstore to stock-up on new Gator gear. What I found was a new Reitz Union with a bookstore to rival many department stores. This was quite a surprise first with the parking garage, second with the bright, modern appearance and third with everything I was looking for. The Reitz was our place to go whenever we needed to meet with friends at UF. The student union has plenty of restaurants, a bookstore, a bike repair shop operated by student government, and even a bowling alley and pool table area. This was my second time here and this time I liked it even More, Thanks to my son's complete tour where we got to see it all. With a food court on the second floor and vendors like; subway, Starbucks, Wendy's, Panda Express, pollo tropical and more, the students will never go hungry. In this building you can find the MCDA, Ground Center for Leadership, Student Activities and Involvement offices. Also, there's the Grand Ballroom on the second floor and every Friday on a separate auditorium UF offers Gator Night, showing movies and more events at no cost. My office is located here in the Reitz Union so it's only right that I review the facility. The architecture is absolutely beautiful and the artwork displayed on the inside is even better. The Reitz Union is home to a multidisciplinary of different resources that do a great job of helping students. Student Activities & Involvement, Multicultural & Diversity Affairs, Sorority & Fraternity Involvment, Student Government and so much more are all great resources for students to use. Also, if you're looking to relax, the Reitz Union is a great place! They offer the Arts & Crafts Center, Bowling Alley, Game room and a multitude of lounge options. The Reitz Union housekeeping staff does a great job with keeping the facility pristine every single day. If you haven't seen the three story facility, you should come take a look and enjoy it's many resources for students. read more

The Reitz has just been renovated and it is absolutely stunning! It has been under construction for around 2 years and has finally been opened the beginning of this year. Every student has been to the Reitz because it's the central place for so many things. There is a game room with bowling and billiards (discounted rates for students with their Gator 1), a food court with fast food places like Wendy's, Pollo Tropical and Panda Express and a printing lab (where students can get up to 250 prints for free). Now, when you walk into the Reitz, you are blown away by a huge main area that has floating stairs and glass elevators where you can see everything. There are so many chairs and the one thing every UF student wants...OUTLETS!! I love that the Reitz has so much glass windows which allows natural sunlight to shine through! The Reitz also has a bus stop which pretty much all buses stop at before going to their destinations whether on or off campus. I also can't forget to mention the UF Bookstore that is located on the 1st floor where you can stock up on Gator gear or textbooks. If you're looking to stay on the campus itself, the Reitz has some hotel rooms on the top floors of the building, but be prepared to pay a heftier price than choosing an off campus hotel. A convenient part about the Reitz is having a Wells Fargo ATM and banking station there, so I can deposit items or make change pretty easily. Overall, the Reitz was pretty old when I started as a student but it is amazing now with so many new amenities. read more

The new renovations have made this place great. It's a new study spot for many, a new hangout spot for many. The expanded atrium is amazing along with the club rooms. It's great to have a room to call your own. Having been here at UF for the past 3 years Ive enjoyed the welcome change and improvements done. I occasionally study here from time to time and absolutely adore it. It's packed with people eating, socializing, dancing, etc. it's almost like the epicenter of student activity. This place is super nice and you can do so much here. Being that I work here, I do know a lot about the building. On the Ground Floor is where you where fine The University of Florida Welcome Center. Here you can come get information about applying to the University of Florida, as well as take a campus tour! If you did not register for a tour, you can get map for a walking tour. To register for tours visit, admissions.ufl.edu. On the second Floor you can get your Gator 1 Card. As well as get your free prints for being a student here at UF. Also, this is where you will find the first floor of the book store, where you can buy your books and get more information. The next floor has food and the other half of the book store. The books store part has tee shirts, jerseys, hats, laptops, and so much more. Food options are El Pollo Tropical, Panda Express, Wendy's, Papa Johns, Starbucks and Croutons. The next floor has the office of multicultural affairs, and the Center for leaderships and service. Finally you have the top floor that is home to the student government office. The student Gov office has one of the largest budgets on campus. Also on the third floor you can find the office of student legal services, where you can get legal advice or something notarized. The Retiz is also home to a hotel, where you can get a very cheap hotel. This is a great place to come to and it is in the center of Gator Nation! read more

Two levels of everything you can imagine for UF and preparing for school in general. They have the normal things you would expect: books for the classes they offer, office supplies, and gifts. What I did not expect, was an Apple section to test drive laptops! They have the store set up for guests that are not students as well. They offer a small book section that reminds me of Books - A Million that even has baby books and TVs so sit and relax. When you walk upstairs you will find all the apparel. The have sports, game, casual and dress clothes. I was amazed at the selection. I'll be there quite a bit so I'm sure they'll get more of my money! read more

You know, this place has a few things going for it that make it a win, and a few that are fail. You can see the original 1960s-ish bones here and there, but its been expanded and renovated enough that they have essentially ruined the original ambiance. Wins: Arredondo Room is pretty cool. Too bad some idiot painted the exposed concrete textured wall. Some interior designers should be beaten for their stupidity. The breezeway is a great student space - always busy with poster sales, groups tabling, and various protest whining. The lower level that overlooks nature. Fails: Epic food court that is waaayyyy to loud (seriously: Sound attenuation is just not that hard) Parking: Just not enough to do the job. Plus, a convoluted traffic path that is counterintuitive and forces one through the damned bookstore. read more

I'm a UCF student, so coming from our student union to this Waldorf Astoria of union was a bit of a culture shock. This union is less of a student facility and more of a pinnacle of information and resources for the UF campus. There is a welcome center with smiling faces ready to answer any questions and guide you, which is helpful to a college foreigner like me, who previously spent 30 minutes walking in circles because the campus is so large. There is a variety of food options available including a wing place, pollo tropical and starbucks. The UF bookstore is incredible- too bad everything is Gator themed (just kidding!). There is more than enough seating available on every floor, bathrooms and electrical outlets. There was probably way more available than what I'm listing, but it's such a large building, I really didn't explore it all. Kudos to UF for putting together such an awesome resource for their students and visitors. read more

Swell location to relax and chill with friends while at UF. The Rietz has several floors, but for the average Joe you just have to worry about the ground and 1st floor. The ground level has a couple of dining establishments like the Wingzone and Subway. It also includes a barber shop and arcade room. The 1st floor features more eateries like Starbucks, Crotons, Panda Express, Wendy's, and Pollo Tropical. Establishment operations hours needs to be confirm before venturing as they tend to be closed during certain times in the UF academic year. The bookstore is here, along with the computer lab, the student legal services office, the center for campus involvement and many more. The place is the hub of everything that goes on around campus. It is also one of the first places that many people go when they tour the campus. The bookstore has a wide variety of items that one can purchase. There is a little bit of everything. The places to eat here range in options but don't expect anything very healthy as they are fast food places. The computer lab that is up on the third floor is free for students to use and each student gets 250 free prints each semester! read more

Finding a clean place to eat or study at Reitz Union Hall has become a real challenge of late. UF campus as a whole is one of the dirtiest I've ever seen. I did undergrad work in the Northeast at Purchase , and later at Wash U in St. Louis. Both schools had full time cleaning crews keeping campus livable. For all the money UF rakes in and all the Gator Nation pride you'd think they could keep a decent looking campus. Dirty, grimy and unsanitary. Shame on you UF. read more

Very friendly staff and exceptional cleanliness with a lot of different food options. There is also a bowling ally, pool table, and table tennis. Check out the 2nd floor and visit the Multicultural and Diversity Affairs office. It is brand new and there is a lot of support for the students. I have spent the most time at the APIA (Asian Pacific Islander American Affairs) department and the director Krystie is fabulous. She devotes a great deal of time and effort to help students through struggle and guidance in everyday life. read more

UF's hotspot, the main area where a lot of events happen - Gatornights, movies etc. There are multi levels and parking is available as well (which probably needs a Decal). It's more like a maze as well, it is currently been renovated and I can't wait to go back when it is done. The bike shop here is terrible! I've gone there three times because I've had issues with my road bike. Most of the kids working here have no idea what the hell they're doing because they barely have experience fixing bikes. The last time I went because my chain was rusty and wanted to get it looked at. They made me pay $15 for a new chain, and as they were installing it, they "accidentally" ripped an inner hole in my tire. They guy didn't even apologize and tried to make me pay an extra $10 to buy a new tube. Things like this have happened multiple times. My friend went in before and tried to get a new seat installed and they tried to convince her that she needed new brakes for her bike... It's ridiculous how this is supposed to be a FREE bike repair store, yet they try to swindle you into purchasing as many extra things as possible. DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more
