As you can tell from the picture below, my fiancée and I had a great time at Painting with a Twist. I wanted to surprise her with a fun date night with something she would enjoy. Turns out I enjoy it too! Painting with a Twist gave us the option to choose what we wanted to paint and we chose abstract forest. The instructor was great. She walked around the room to see if we needed help and gave us breaks if needed. I never knew how much fun this experience was, but after participating, I will definitely be back. My artwork didn't turn out exactly like what it was supposed to, but it didn't matter because I so much fun painting it. Painting with a Twist also allows you to bring in alcohol beverages if that's your style.

Super cute for a date! Painting while tipsy is super fun and the instructors are very patient and help you so your painting doesn't look horrible! I have yet to do a couples painting but they look super cool I can't wait to try it

We had a lot of fun painting and playing around with the props. Would recommend it to anyone who wants a date out to do something fun. Great staff as well!!!

You can bring wine!!! But on a serious note if you are looking for a unique place to go for a date night, out with friends or you just like to let your inner picasso out alone PAINTING WITH A TWIST should be on the top of your list. Erin and all the staff are friendly helpful and ready to host a good time, you can also bring wine and snacks! I contacted Erin with a idea I had for a engagement proposal and she went above and beyond making it possible. It was a blast and will be a place we will never be able to forget. So we hope to see you on our next date night to paint many more memories. Did I mention you can bring wine?

What a great time we had! Mom and I had been planning a trip to Do Art for years. Finally we made…read moreit and we had a great time. This is a great place for artists at any level. My mom is a whiz at drawing and painting and I'm below a novice. Two year olds draw better than I do. There was a lot of pre-made ceramics to choose from; which was a lot of fun to browse through before settling on the right piece. The staff were really helpful. They explained different techniques - 3 coats of paint will give you a more solid color, don't paint light over dark - to help us get started. Our table was well grounded, not wobbly. This is important when you are painting delicate fine lines on your piece. The paint brushes were well used which could make it hard to paint the more delicate things. Lots of paint colors and ceramic pieces to choose from. The pricewas $9 lab fee that includes the cost of paint, firing, brushes, pencils and other goodies. Then you purchase ceramic you are painting. Prices for ceramic pieces cover a wide range. My small candy dish with lid cost $11.50 and mom's vase/paint brush holder was $10. But we had unlimited use of the studio and paints. We had our own table. 5 stars for the studio, very clean and people friendly. 5 stars for variety and price. 4 stars for staff. The more mature staff were always available and walking the floor to make sure everybody was helped and having a good time. At the staff change a younger group of staff came in. While friendly it was a bit harder to figure out who was staff and who wasn't when we checked out. I ended up approaching a nice college aged woman to ask her if she worked there. Her purse was on one of the tables and she was totally engrossed in painting a piece. She did work there and we were able to check out. Our pieces will be ready in a week. 3 stars for not having a better system for tracking ready to pick up items, items that have been fired and ready to go home. No labeling system. Just walk in and say I'm picking up a tea cup and the staff says is this it and you say yea or nay. They might have a pefrect system but I did worry about not getting my mom's vase returned. We will see on Friday. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I had a great time hanging out with my mom and watching her work her amazing artistic magic on that vase.

I love Do Art. I have been coming here since I was a little girl in elementary school (I am now in…read moremy third year of college). The old place was really cool because in the summer they had camps where you could make all your pieces and work on the potters wheels. It was a really good outlet for all of my creative energy, and it still is. I came here tonight with one of my girlfriends, and we had a really nice time just being mellow and painting. The ceramics to choose from was a bit lacking-they did not have what I was looking for, but I settled for a medium size box and a large square serving platter. Unlike their old place, they have a ton of paints and I didn't have to fight with people to get the color I wanted (this actually used to be a huge pain because you'd have to go around to every table to see who had the bottle of paint you were looking for), but now they have three bottles of every color available which is great. The studio is clean and I definitely give them props for their music choice- all the songs reminded me of my middle school days listening to Simple Plan and Bowling for Soup; it was almost nostalgic. The only complaint I really have is that the staff is not very friendly. When I first walked in, an older lady sitting at a table peered at me over her glasses and asked what I needed. My friend walked in after me and had a similar experience. That old lady needs to go or change her attitude. The other woman who came in later was super nice, however. All in all, it was a fun experience and I will be back. I hope next time that there will be more choices of ceramics to pick from!

I did the splatter room here and had such a great time. The staff were super friendly and…read moreexplained the whole process really well, which made it easy to just relax and have fun. The space was clean and organized, and I appreciated that they had everything ready to go when I arrived. They give you protective gear (which you definitely need!) and you "gear up" before walking in by wearing a mesh suit, hair net and cover your shoes too but you can take them off and just slide on their "socks" they give you . Once you're in there, it's just a blast--literally throwing paint on the canvas, the walls, and maybe a little on yourself too. It's messy in the best way, and weirdly therapeutic. You can also use their Alexa to play music of your choice and make it a fun vibe and have your own mini party. I really liked that you get to take home your canvas afterward, it's such a cool keepsake. You wait 24 hours to come back and once it is fully dry you can take it home. It's not something I'd do all the time, but for a creative, out-of-the-box experience, it's totally worth it. Highly recommend if you're looking for something playful and a little different to do in Gainesville. I love that they have so many options such as acrylic projects, string projects, painted glasses and other DYI experiences. You can set an appointment and come in at your reserved a lot. I'll 100% be coming back and already want to try one of their other DIY experiences!

My wife and I had a wonderful time doing the splatter room! Highly recommend this place.read more

This would be a great activity for adults and recommended for common sense smart people. The four us had our own station complete with glass, tools, and torch. This was a first time glass class for all of us. After the common safety recommendations, Justin did an amazing job showing us basic techniques (suitable for our novice level). He helped us shape our designs when asked. This was a very hands-on, creative playing experience! Recommendations: -Wear work clothes and sneakers (it gets hot!). -Bring a drink and empty your tank (bathroom on site). You'll be at our station standing for quite some time. -Come with an idea of what you want to make. -Have an open mind and as Justin says, let your adult self go. Just play. -Be ready for a satisfying and simultaneously aggravating process. -Bring your sense of humor! -Your glass creations will take at least 24 hours to cool down in the kiln. Be ready to pick them up a few days later. Thank you, Justin! We'll definitely be back!
