John "Jack" Jouett was the Paul Revere of the South. A member of the Virginia militia, he rode 40 miles to Montecello on his horse Sallie to warn Thomas Jefferson of approaching British troops. After the war he migrated to Kentucky where he played a part in establishing Statehood and farmed the land. The original stone cabin from 1780 and the house he later built in 1797 still stand. Very interesting tour about a little known hero of the Revolutionary War whose efforts prevented the capture of Anerica's political leaders. read more
