It is truly the teachers and coaches and other adults in the community that make Shipley so special. They truly know my kids--their strengths, their weaknesses, ways to motivate them, where to support them, and when to push them outside of their comfort zone... They also embrace and celebrate the many different ways children learn. The teachers are just fabulous--they are proactive and engaged in student life and they respond to each child's needs--at whatever point they are in their academic and social development. The curriculum is responsive to the needs of the students while the academic vision is always pushing the envelope. Shipley does not have one model of a "successful graduate" that they are teaching towards - rather the teachers strive to find each student's unique gifts and talents and then help them become the best versions of themselves, in a holistic way. My daughter had been struggling with math since 7/8th grade but always managed a C+/B+ on her…read morereport card. When she entered 9th grade her grade and self esteem plummeted to an all time low. We were at a loss. After all, since 7th grade we had spent so much money on expensive tutors and programs (Sullivan, Kumon etc). Nothing was sticking and we were desperate. As a last ditch effort we signed up for Cherry Hill Mathnasium. So we scheduled an evaluation and made our way over the bridge from Philadelphia. It was only a short 20 minute drive and the free parking more than made up for it. I mean, I live in Center City Philadelphia which means driving around for at least 20 minutes to snag a metered spot. Still, my only thought was "Please let this be worth it". Once there we met Nathan, Brian and the whole crew. They explained the program in detail. The hours were flexible, rates were reasonable and everyone was nice enough. So, we gave it a shot and I enrolled my daughter in group classes. As it urned out she was more comfortable with private lessons. We were hesitant to switch over at first because we had already paid for a month of group classes. Nathan (without us even asking) was very kind to give a credit for our unused balance so that Talia could start her private lessons immediately (fun fact: their private lessons are VERY affordable). I was more than pleased with my decision. The instruction is top notch. I could tell my daughter was getting instruction from true professionals who love their jobs, have mastered their craft and who never lose sight of their passion - to awaken and maximize every child's inner math genius - . When I started out on my MBA journey I really had no idea what I was in for. I always did well in…read morehigh school and college so when I borrowed a friends GMAT books I thought I would have an easy time preparing. I was wrong...really, really wrong. Its been years since I graduated from college, and as a marketing major, even longer since I took a math class. My first practice test showed me that studying by myself and at my own pace was not going to cut it. After a lot of research and comparing different programs I choose Manhattan GMAT because I needed a class setting and an instructor who could coach me through the process. I took a class winter of 2012 with Abby Berry and it made a world of difference for me. Abby's experience and knowledge was unbelievably helpful. Not only did we cover general math and verbal, but also test tips and tricks, techniques to study correctly, and what I felt like was the "insiders scoop" about the test. What I liked most about Abby's teaching style was that she explained concepts in a really clear and visual way that was easy to understand and remember. The tips and tricks she taught us helped me focus on test day and finish all the questions on time. My final test score was 100 points higher than my first practice test and I have Manhattan GMAT and Abby to thank for that. I'm now a student at Temple Fox School of Business!

The Live Class is worth it if it works with your schedule. Emily was engaging, even after a long work day. She would always challenge us to go a step further than what the textbook course material was offering us, which not only helped us learn more material, but encouraged us to feel confident that we were really mastering the test-taking skills necessary to perform well on the GMAT. Once I learned how the GMAT was structured, I knew I was limited in what I could learn on my own. I was really grateful to have Emily and a classroom setting to break the material down. Now that the class has ended, Emily is willing to continue our relationship via email for any outstanding questions we have. I also appreciated all that comes with Manhattan Prep when you sign up for a Live Class. I'll start with the online resource center: all of the Live Class learning sessions have been prerecorded by other Manhattan Prep instructors, and you can go back and re-watch these at any point, to reinforce what you learned in class. I found this to be invaluable. You also receive access to plenty of online forums, blogs, and other opportunities to learn from other instructors and MBA candidates about their process for application, the Dos and Don'ts, etc. At first I thought the price tag for this course was high, but once I realized everything that came with it, I would recommend this to anyone.

While they were enrolled for summer camp 2025, communication started in February on my end as my one child does have needs that require support. I provided IEPs, communications about him having and aide with him for part of the day and all of the tools necessary for them to be successful (allergy safe snacks, noise cancelling headphones, sensory toys, special books and projects, etc). On day 1 - I wish I had walked out and never went there again, but everyone is an expert with hindsight. At dropoffs week 1 the main teacher for summer camp, Miss Marissa, showed no interest in interacting with my child or listening on how to support my child with the most basics of needs. When I was giving her specific instructions on day 2 she stopped listening and did not even acknowledge my child to play with her own child. When I reported this to the owner, it was confirmed by another employee..... who was soon let go. During the short time (3.5 weeks) my kids attended camp the thing I received the most contact about was if items that the school wanted to provide foodwisw were safe because of food allergies; I packed snacks daily due to food allergies so there was absolutely no need for food to be provided by the school. There was never how can we support your child, it was always encouraging his aide to keep him at a separate table like an outcast and the wanting to know what time was I going to be there instead of making any effort to make NELC feel safe for him. I offered so many resources and insights and no effort on their end was made. My child's tutor also reached out to offer resources and training and NELC wanted me to pay for any additional support. The owner made it a point to tell me when she had to come in early or leave later because of my child. Several days at pickup there was a child stimming; Miss Marissa regularly told him to stop and find a book to read. Again, another sign I should've followed my gut and stopped sending my kids. Daycares in general have shifted and I was so hopeful for a new small business in a local town; instead we found a place that discriminates, antagonized a child with needs when they were told daily that the child needs to feel safe and actively recruits child with special needs to attend. The 2 teachers that bonded with my kiddo when he was where short term employees and left after interacting with my child and reporting all good things. I am sharing this as for a childcare center for your average child it may be fine, but for kiddos with ANY needs- steer clear as 5 months after pulling my child we are still navigating the trauma associated with NELC and how the owner Patty and Marissa treated him. He was there for 30 minutes 2 days a week without an aide and in that short time they completely ignored him when he needed help and didn't even attempt to support basic needs to keep my child safe. The last day my kids went I came home to finding out that there was a physical interaction between my kids that day that I never received any notification about. I immediately pulled my kids that night and was told I was responsible for several weeks of tuition and disbelief that I was pulling my kids. No mention of physical interaction between my kids or any issues that day; fast forward the following week when the state went out to investigate after they were no longer enrolled I received a incident report my child with severe food allergies ingested non-food a week prior.
