I mostly come here in the day to watch the football (On huge screens, they also have 3D aswell now) and eat a meal, though I sometimes come in on a night out and I can't honestly say it's ever caused me any grief. The walkabout member card system is amazing - everything becomes 20% (ish) cheaper and it pays for itself after a few visits. Obviously it's a chain so don't expect high class - but it does the job really well, definitely recommend it !

It's really large and spacious which I like and dedicates itself hugely to broadcasting sports on giant screens as well as multiple smaller TVs. Customer Service: This is probably where Walkabout gets 1 star off. The customer service really isn't the best. Admittedly, it's not like they're rude, but a tad bit unprofessional. A guy who served me was clearly tired, most likely hungover, and not friendly or enthusiastic at all. If you order food, employees are a bit overeager to clear your plates for some strange reason. I had a huge bowl of chips still untouched and was asked if I wanted it cleared... wtf? Food: Reaaaally realllly good. It may be just a sports bar rather than a proper restaurant, but don't underestimate the food. I had Aussie-Style Steak Pie (comes with mashed potatoes, mushy peas, gravy) and it was one of the best meat pies I've ever had. I even started craving another one a few hours after finishing it. The bowl of chips was really great as well - covered with cheese and served with a side of dipping sauce of your choice. I chose Garlic Mayonnaise and it went fantastic and delicious with the chips! (Also great with the mashed potatoes in the Aussie-Style Steak Pie meal). --- Overall, I'm a fan of Walkabout and would come here again. It's definitely a top-rate sports bar that has televisions everywhere, decently priced drinks and food, and deliciousss meat pies!

They show such a variety of games that if you team is playing then there is a good chance they are showing it. On a Saturday they will have many games on in an afternoon - when I last went they had four football games on, a rugby game and we also got Sky Sports News put on in another room. There's a good range of lagers but limited amount of ale which is a shame but only a small downside for many other pluses. There is a function room which is available for free and has its own separate bar and toilets. It's upstairs at the back so it feels nice and private. The place is a bit of a tardis and has lots of separate spaces so you can enjoy your friend's company without feeling part of one big group. On a Monday they do "toss the boss", flip a coin and if you win you only pay half price for your drink. It has certainly kept me in there longer than I planned in the past. They're also pretty flexible, I've been in with my kids when it's been quiet and we've had the top room to ourselves while watching the football - they even let us bring in our own food as they only offer crisps and nuts. Nice flexible guys running a great bar. Keep up the good work!

The reason I say this is that they have tons of cheap booze offers, some more quirky than others (Mondays, for instance, are 'Toss the Boss' when you can win a free round, thankfully via a toss of a coin). I only usually go here on Sundays, mainly because it's quite an agreeable place (certainly better than a chain sports bar), the booze is cheap (£2.50 for a pint of Heineken and 2-4-1 cocktails), and you can usually arrive just as the biggest of matches (Chelsea Vs Liverpool this weekend) is kicking off and still get a seat. This is partly because they have so many flatscreens TVs (four I believe) in a couple of different areas (main bar, cosy sofa back bit and upstairs mezzanine). One of the better places for a Sunday session though I've never been on an evening.

They've done the entire place up and it's got the huge benefit of having a totally separate pool room in it. I can't think of anywhere I've been to recently which has a totally separate area and it's nice to not be bumping into people and things as you're trying to play pool. This pub was my local before I moved to Cardiff and it's got the best staff and atmosphere in any pub in Bridgend in my opinion. They always have stuff on, whether it's live music or pub quizzes or karaoke. It's mainly older people in here but it's never jam packed to the point that you become overwhelmed and depressed by the ravages of age as you're trying to enjoy a pint. The food here changes every day and they have curry days, carveries and other themed days on differing nights of the week. The food here is really well prepared and well priced too. One of the best pubs in Bridgend on a Friday and Saturday, it can get a little dead during the week. If you want a chat with a few friends it's ideal. If you're looking for a wild night out and you're under 40, perhaps head into town!
