    Apparently they got toilet ghosts

I thought this was a really interesting tour - maybe not for the reasons you'd expect. A friend of ours had done this tour recently and said it was good so we decided to check it out. This specific tour company has "ripper vision" which is essentially projecting some of the crime scene photos onto nearby buildings. That does help as much of the area has been modernized considerably. The tour lasts about 1.5 -2 hours and covers a few miles so it's not good for those who can't stand/walk for that amount of time. I'll also say our guide (who was interesting) walked REALLY, REALLY fast (seriously, like almost jogging) - at times he was way ahead of our rather large group which made it a challenge to hear things. I do appreciate that they talked a lot about living conditions and poverty at the time, as well as some of the political issues. You'll see an old workhouse, the parish church, atmospheric alleyways and even a haunted pub. (The ghost of one of the victims haunts the toilet the the Ten Bells so you might get the crap literally scared out of you) At the end, our guide shared his theory and reasoning behind it, but stressed all are welcome to disagree. (I definitely did!) For the most part, I thought the guide was pretty respectful but other tourists were not (what kind of person lays down on the actual murder site for pictures? Assholes, that's who). I really did enjoy the chance to explore an area of the city that many tourists don't see but still is very interesting.

Honestly..this was the highlight of my visit to london. Theres a bunch of different "ripper tours" but we chose the one with "ripper vision". Be forewarned ... it's a ton of walking and standing .... like two hours worth. The real measure of how interesting this tour was is that despite coming in on the red eye that morning, I was thoroughly fascinated with the whole thing and barely noticed all the walking. Our tour guide took us on a meandering tour of the east end...stopping at various places to use his projector for the aforementioned ripper vision. Note some of the images are kind of disturbing (I guess that goes without saying but anyhow.) At the end our tour guide hawks his book on jack the ripper for 12 pounds (I came close to purchasing.) He also offered to go for a curry and/or drink at a pub with any tour goers who were interested. We didn't take him up on it but I'm sure it would've been interesting. It's a great way to spend an evening in London!

    Spooky pictures from Ripper landmarks.

This was one of the highlights of my trip to London. I usually do ghost walk type activities in cities I visit because it is a great way to get your bearings and hear some entertaining stories. But this one was a bit different. It was really a history lesson wrapped in a murder mystery, and presented brilliantly. I forget the name of our tour guide, but I believe he is in charge of the company. He stated he made documentaries about the topic. He was so knowledgeable as well as entertaining and told a great story. He put the murders into historical context for us which added to the experience. He also brought pictures to pass around to enhance his stories as he told them. This was a fabulous way to explore the East End and learn more about the story of Jack the Ripper. I highly recommend it to anyone who may be interested. It is very well done and entertaining.

The Jack the Ripper Tour with 'Ripper Vision' was extremely interesting. The tour takes you to the areas where Jack the Ripper murdered his victims and tells the story of each. You walk through some alleys and streets that are almost exactly the same as they were back when this happened. It is creepy now in many of those areas, even with modern street lights. I can't imagine what it would have been like in the late 1800's! Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and a great story teller! Every part of the tour had great stories and background information for us to know about the Jack the Ripper case. One thing that I really enjoyed was the Ripper-Vision, where they project images related to the case on the wall of some of the local buildings. I only wish that there was a bit more of the ripper vision. I think that it added quite a bit to the experience, even though it was only used twice. Please keep in mind if taking this tour that it is a LOT of walking, some of it on cobblestone and non-flat road, so it would be a challenge for those who are unable to walk a lot. I highly recommend this tour!

The infamous serial killer, Jack the Ripper, got his name from a letter (aka "Dear Boss" letter) sent to Scotland Yard, supposedly, by the killer himself. "The canonical five", as the Ripper's victims have come to be known, were Mary Ann Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine Eddowes, and Mary Jane Kelly, prostitutes on London's East End and slaughtered, even dissected, on the streets between August 31st and November 9th 1888. The Jack the Ripper tour starts just a few blocks away from the first murder scene at exit 3 of the Aldgate East Station (77 Whitechapel High St, London E1 7QX - just west of Brick Lane and next to the Whitechapel Gallery). Note that there are at least three exits, hence "exit 3", so make sure you are at the right one at the appointed time or they will leave without you. We took the 7:30PM tour and the fee was £10 ($13.25) each. You need to book online at the website above. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the Jack the Ripper case, although impersonal, taking us on a 2-hour whirlwind tour (walking from site to site at a very brisk pace - if you are older, disabled, or have small children, this tour will be difficult for you) through the East End. The areas is much more modern and upscale now than it was at the turn of the century with a 50/50 mix of quaint Victorian buildings and recent eyesores. We visited a few of the crime scenes, but many were torn down long ago or "too far away" to visit during our two hour marathon. Honestly, you could read the history on Wikipedia and map out a walking tour of the area yourself on Google Maps. I did it for you in about 15 minutes (CLICK HERE FOR WALKING ROUTE) using information from Wikipedia on "Jack the Ripper" and "Whitechapel Murders" and the route, which is much longer than the one we took, takes less than an hour on foot. The tour would have been much more interesting and worthwhile had they used some theatrics, period costume(s), and playacting with a character or two, Jack the Ripper knife-in-hand and a bloody victim or two, along the way to provide some excitement. Our guide did have a handheld device from which some of the images you see (*) were projected onto walls and ceilings along the route, making it a little more realistic and gruesome. For £10, it was interesting and I got a good workout, so I cannot complain too much. If you take the tour, either this one, one of the others available or a self-guided tour (recommended), I suggest you do it during the day if you want better photos or at night if you prefer more realism and a dramatic feel. Before I do a break down let me sum this up in a few words. FUN, Educational and QUALITY ENTERTAINMENT! Tickets purchases. Obviously your on yelp so you can probably see they have a website where you can purchase tickets, but they also have a little store front you can get them at as well located just before the meet up point. I can't remember the name of it but if you call the number listed they'll tell you. The man running the store also has a little vape shop in there and some other type of side hustle too. He was super nice though and also gave me some info on other cool attractions to check out. I bought the Jack the Ripper book from him as well. Very friendly gentlemen, super welcoming and informative. While you wait. There's a nice little park across the street we sat at after we had dinner at a amazing Turkish restaurant called Efes highly recommend! Amazing service and amazing food! If you haven't had Turkish coffee get some! Anyways back to the topic. Sorry got a little distracted there. lol. The tour! Our guides name was Johnny he was amazing! Very entertaining, pashonet, well educated on the topic and friendly. He definitely keeps your attention the entire time. The tour was about 2 hours long, he'll take you through the old streets of London bring you on a journey back in time. He's very well at keeping your imagination going and giving you in depth detail. There were many questions I had going into the tour that I thought I'd have to ask about after but nothing was left out! If you have some time and want to go home with having had a cool, unique experience I highly recommend giving this a shot. P.S wear your walking shoes. lol. Hope this helps, enjoy.

He covered over 1000 years of history over the two hour walk. We started at Trafalgar Square, through Royal London (seeing the beginning and up close changing of the guard) then to St. James Park, on to Downing Street, Big Ben and so many other great historical locations. There is no cost for the tour, and the guides work solely on tips, but there was no pressure at all to do so. We tipped 20 pounds and it was worth every penny. You can tell Andrew loves what he does, and likes meeting new people. It was so good we went back for the 6:30 pm London's Ghostly Haunts Walk, but were 7 minutes late and missed it. However, after a brief search on Google I was dismayed at the price of these tours - approximately £40. As we were staying close to Camden (for the music of course!) I tried another search and soon found the Rock n Roll Camden Walking Tour. I couldn't believe it was only £10! We met Alison outside the Electric Ballroom which is very easy to find. Alison is warm and vivacious with a vast knowledge of Camden and its music scene. We were brought to many pubs and venues and Alison had something fascinating to say about each one. If you're not a fan of walking not to worry, Camden isn't that big and there are plenty of stops! My sister's into punk and ska and I'm an indie rock girl but both our tastes were accommodated as bands and musicians from all genres have lived and played in Camden. The tour is a great insight into the music history of Camden and I'd recommend it to anyone with an interest in alternative music. A really fun hour and a half!

Walks are the best way to get to know a place, and this is one of the best organised tours I have been on. I was a bit worried at first that Street Art London might be a big, almost corporate outfit with an aim to profit from the growing (and increasingly mainstream) interest in street art - what with the highly professional website and efficient paypal payment option. Very happy to find out that instead this is a project based on a man's personal interest in pictures on walls and those who create them. Griff is very knowledgeable and happy to share his wisdom, even recommending further sites too far to reach on the day. Street Art tours are available twice a week on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. I spontaneously booked a one-off this May Bank Holiday just gone. The group met at 11 o'clock near Old Street station with the tour then winding through streets and back alleys until it was time to take a little break at lunchtime, giving everyone a chance to refuel and get to know each other. I think we were on the road well over the promised four hours! And it didn't stop there; Griff takes the time to contact everyone personally after the tour with links to interviews he has conducted, locations and whatever else might have come up. One of the best days out to be had in London at the moment!
